  1. Well looky here, there is now. (Oh the power, the power :))
  2. Pedants corner - standard boost is 7psi, only then if the ECU is happy with conditions such as engine temp (>59 degC) and knock sensor etc will it allow the Boost Solenoid Control Valves (BSCV) to be enabled allowing boost to be raised to 9 or 9.5psi (can't remember which exactly) However, presumably if you have a boost controller then the BSCV's will be disabled enabling you to blow your engine up when it's stone cold. ;)
  3. 'Spose you'll all want '99 spec fronts too ! LOL Not many calls for red I see, probably because it's the most common colour already (oops, should I have said popular!) :D
  4. The Jap leather isn't fantastic quality and many of them are pretty badly worn by now, so it's not worth paying a premium for something that needs repairing. Get cloth and replace it with good leather if that's what you want. A few people here have had nice leather interiors done. Have a look here for a great example :- http://www.300zx.co.uk/rides/lack300
  5. It's probably awaiting resurection when Craig gets some spare time (yeah right!). the other links probably cover most of the important points.

non aspirated !!!! - that sounds like Duffers ... LOL :D (sorry)
  7. Mark, I'm not that far away from you, near Great Dunmow, so if you drop in then we might be able to work out the cause of your problem.
  8. Hmmm, well I've just looked at the working of both and I'm afraid I'm just not prepared to punch that large a hole in my firewall. :(
  9. So how much Spyware is in all these dodgy products. btw just read the Kazaa T's & C's - it's pretty clear who they're intending to be in court for copyright infringement !
  10. The O2 sensor test only 'fails' if they are completely Donald Ducked or if the wiring to them is broken. What tends to happen is that they fail slowely and become 'sticky' in that they report a lean figure more than they should, the ECU then compensates by chucking more fuel in, still reports lean etc .... you get the idea. A more reliable way to tell is by using a Consult/ConZult/Techtom and monitoring the voltage. I had exactly the same happen to one of mine and the only give away was that fuel consumption dropped from about 21 to 17mpg.
  11. Surely everyone should be voting for Brunel - now he really achieved stuff and the majority of it is still in use today (boats and trains excepted!)

Well an ammeter is arguably one of the most useful devices you can have and gives a far more accurate view of how the battery and charging system are performing, as long as you know how to interpret what it's telling you. However, they typically have to be wired in line such that all the current flows through them, rather than like a voltmeter which is connect across the powersource. This means that they are effectively a weak link in the system, so unless someone has made one of the no doubt super expensive inductive ones for a car yet, then I would probably avoid it. As far as the range goes, well larger is not automatically the best scale to have, that will depend upon the current drawn. Obviously on startup it's gonna hit the end stop, but after a few miles it should be pretty close to zero all the time once the battery has recharged. What it will tell you is whether the alternator is producing enough current to drive that massive stereo and four 130w bulbs (patio heaters lol) that you installed last week ! All IMHO of course :D
  13. So all that blurb about original, reliability, 150,000 miles etc was all bull then ? :D
  14. Not a Primary School teacher, not even a Junior School teacher or even an Infant School teacher IIRC. Wasn't it a child minder, creche, under school age type thing ??? What do they call those, playgroups ?
  15. 3.4l with filter, 3.0 without - it's in the manual - it'sofficial.

If I was a very clever person and a gambler I'd say there's pics of two different cars there.
  17. Glad to hear it's fixed. Will send you my address.
  18. Not a sausage ...... Tumbleweed time !
  19. In that case it's probably either the handbrake adjustment or the brake fluid level.
  20. Ho hum ! Well I thought about that but it didn't seem right ..... could be through ...
  21. Got my past 3 emmission test results to hand so here goes :- -------Limit -- 2000 --- 2001 --- 2002 CO ---- 3.5 --- 0.4 ---- 0.02 --- 0.79 --------- %age HC --- 1200 --- 148 ---- 104 ---- 127 ---------- ppm = parts per million Each of these are non-cat tests (as they should be) done at the same garage on the same machine and for the 2002 test the car had actually been de-catted. Also, I have no precats, never have, but I some cars will have them. So the conclusions that can be drawn are :- 1) I lost the piece of paper for 1999 test 2) Removing the cats does appear to increase the amount of carbon monoxide 3) Removing the cats makes naff all difference to the HC reading 4) I've forgotton what HC stands for (Doh!) - Paul C ???
  22. The XP firewall is functional but not impressive, I won't bore you with the details. My feeling is that it will roll along for a while and then Micro$haft will buy one of the competition (company and all like they have in the past) and include it in the product at a later date. I have only used one other product on an MS platform and it's ZoneAlarm. The free version is great, the Pro version is better but costs you $49 for 2 years use.
  23. So that's how you found it ! ;)
  24. Ha ha, my mate owns that. Look at the window title as well. :)
  25. Yes they are but not by Nissan - they will tell you that they are non rebuildable. You will need to go to a place like RecoProp, who I think live in Luton.
