  1. Not sure about Japan, but they definitely use volcanic ash or something similar in New Zealand.

http://www.lifesure.co.uk were good for me, but I'm over 30 :( They also do classic policies on imports and will take mods into account.
  3. You're typically looking at around £70-ish. Contact AndyZ in the For Sale area.
  4. Two points :- The cat temp sensors do nothing except light up the warning light on the dash, there's no need to cut the wires, you can just unscrew them from the cats and threadle them back through the hole in the floorpan from whence they came - don't forget to put a rubber bung in place to stop water getting in. Secondly, IMHO just gutting the cats effectively creates an expansion chamber partway down the exhaust. No technical background to this but I don't think this will be ideal for gas flow. Therefore, getting de-cat pipes will probably improve gas flow, but neither will affect back pressure. You can also get de-cat pipes with small straight thru silencers approximately where the cats were. Once again, no difference to back pressure but it may take a little more of the noise out. Much of the really harsh exhaust noise is damped by the turbo, so de-catting a turbo car has a less dramatic effect on volume than on a non-turbo car.
  5. That's good info, if anyone knows of any others then let me know and I'll add them to the page. Remember the bible is the Nissan FAST cd - I have a copy and can accurately date up until 2002.
  6. martin, I think Az's logic escaped him there, what he actually meant to say was pretty sure I remember reading that from the CAT's forward, the exhausts are the same.. From the cats back they are definitely different.
  7. But, seatbelts are often replaced after an accident so it's no guarantee, they are also the best well known and most obvious of the manufacturing dates on the car, and so would be the first to be altered if someone was trying to mask the actual date of the car. Worth a look here :- http://www.300zx.org.uk/import_dating.htm
  8. Assuming the car has an MOT/SVA there should be nothing that you have to do to ensure the car is running OK. If you are going to start some mods then for an import some will be better than others. If you can get the full chassis number then I can confirm for you the actual manufacturing date of the car. Best thing to do is get a digi photo of the plate, but understandably they may be a little reticent for you to do that - tell them you want it for an HPI check or something. Thay way at least you can be sure that the car with an L plate is not an '89 model etc.
  9. GPS will be able to get you some Iridiums.

I got one of the super cool Blitz stepping motor jobbies like Warren. Peak hold, delayed response functions etc. Not cheap but an excellent piece of kit. Also once you've bought the driver module thingy you can (fairly) cheaply add other gauges for oil temp, water temp, etc. Have a word with Johnny/Latz at GPS.
  11. My one is just like a small pipette with 4 small balls in it. The number that float tell you the approx percentage concentration. I presume that yours must give a more direct specific gravity reading. (RTFM - LOL)
  12. Git ! Anyway, mine is in the garage in bits .... :-(
  13. If it was OK before you fitted the i/c's then I think you should be looking in that direction. Is there a boost leak ?
  14. Cos three exhausts makes it go faster right !!!! LOL I was on my way to Trax in Sept and I saw a Fiesta (I think) with TWO banks of 3 or 4 exhausts ! Looked crazy, think they were square tail pipes too.
  15. Mine idles at about 1300-1500 for say 20 secs then sorts itself out to pretty much normal.
  16. Mr T, get up early - don't make me laugh !!!! Even when he stayed at my gaff and I made him go to bed early (before 2am) he still didn't surface until about midday !!! LOL :D
  17. I think only gif jpg png txt zip bmp jpeg are permitted. You could zip up the file and attach that, or just change the filename to a .gif (for example) and then tell people to change it back once they've downloaded it.
  18. oil

Well Duffer managed to turn one of his off ! LOL :D
  21. I feel obliged to invite you into pedants corner just to remind you that these are not gull wing doors, as they are not hinged in the middle of the roof. Lambo refer to them as horizontally hinged doors. I also have to admit to distant hankerings for a DeLorean (which does have gull wing doors), but I managed to resist when I discovered the feeble engine.
  22. It means it's about 0.4 second quicker to the tyre shop ! :D
  23. Some movement is allowed. Here is the Nissan tech bulletin on my site :- http://www.300zx.org.uk/nissan_bulletin.htm
  24. Yup twice !!! No really obvious signs except MOT failure and uneven front tyre wear when it got really bad.
