Well after the 'incident' in the Bug followed by being scared witless on the bike (and she hated bikes) that was it.
  3. Sorted - thanks to Craig !

Fortunately I didn't bang anything. Although whilst on that subject I was giving my girlfriend a lift home at the time. Next day we had to complete the journey on my Ducati and that officially ended the relationship ! No great loss, she was usually referred to as "The Garston Strangler" behind her back ! LOL :D

  12. I know a bit about TV but nothing about Xbox (or any games console). But you are far more likley to get a decent picture by using an RGB, SCART or S-Video connection than a co-ax aerial connection.
  13. Dave, BTconnect (BT Satellite) have just released a utility which modifies the network config of your machine (increases the MTU to 1498 bytes) which may be useful to anyone with a fast AND reliable connection. You can either faff about through the network config or get ahold of the .exe which does it, or un-does it, for you. If you want to have a go let me know and I'll email it to you.
  14. I have Satellite and it is no panacea believe me. However, it may be better than some of the cheap and nasty broadband options, of couse if you live in the middle of nowhere then there is currently no other option. Talk to me or Gio before splashing out piles of cash.
  15. The one previously hosted on this site is currently AWOL but there are a few more linked from here :- http://www.300zx.org.uk/tech_20.htm
  16. If you have a suitable towing vehicle then you can hire trailers from places like GT Towing (http://www.gttowing.co.uk/). Alternatively most people who are into rallying/racing have trailers. I know a few but they're all around my way, not Bedfordshire.
  17. Whilst I personally disagree with the use of spacers, I don't think they will do too much damage as long as, they are not too large (wide), not too heavy (ally has to be better than steel), and fit correctly. Most, most, most important is that enough of the stud is available to properly fit the wheel nuts. In many cases longer studs would be required. Spacers are fairly common in Japan where the 7.5" wheels are fitted to the rears and they want it to look like the 8.5" wheels have been used.
  18. Rob, I just emailed you the text of the message (no attachment).

You may be able to get one that fits in place of the standard digital clock.
  20. Take a look under the Turbo section on this page :- http://www.300zx.org.uk/tech_18.htm
  21. Probably this one http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/2617991.stm
  22. Err, yeah they are kinda dark. Reminds me of a bit of the Hitch Hikers Guide when they stole the Disaster Area spaceship :- ``It's the wild colour scheme that freaks me,'' said Zaphod whose love affair with this ship had lasted almost three minutes into the flight, ``Every time you try to operate on of these weird black controls that are labelled in black on a black background, a little black light lights up black to let you know you've done it. What is this? Some kind of galactic hyperhearse?'' The walls of the swaying cabin were also black, the ceiling was black, the seats --- which were rudimentary since the only important trip this ship was designed for was supposed to be unmanned --- were black, the control panel was black, the instruments were black, the little screws that held them in place were black, the thin tufted nylon floor covering was black, and when they had lifted up a corner of it they had discovered that the foam underlay also was black.
  23. I never considered the 'crossflow' design a problem. I presume it just makes the engine a more compact unit. I also asked many people about why intercoolers were left in shiny ally rather than painted black and the only sensible answer I got was from PeteR. He maintained that in the work they had done at Ford the black coatings made little or no diifference and in fact it was so close that they felt that the extra coating of black paint was acting as a sort of insulator and negating the minimal benefit. (Plus people like buying shiny parts for their cars:D)
  24. There is an easier way :- http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnetfaq/FAQpages/ECUdiagnostics.html
  25. Yeah, why do people install shiny stainless steel pipes when matt black finish ones would dissipate the heat more effectively. Won't make much difference of course, but evey little helps.
