Your problem doesn't sound like a ptu prob to me, but it would be worth swapping one over with someone for a quick comparision. If you can't find anyone local to help you then I do have a spare that I could post.

I'm sure someone will expand on this, but I have collected together most of the buyers guides here :-http://www.300zx.org.uk/tech_20.htm - worth a read if you're a newbie.
  3. If you ignore the fact that they eat the synchros ! ;)
  4. You could start by cleaning the throttle bodies, resetting the ECU, checking the TPS voltage abd then cleaning the AAC valve. Good details available at http://www.z-car.net
  5. I presume that you mean the black coating (rather than rubber) which tends to get an odd sort of crazed finish over the years. I suspect that the metal underneath will go rusty if you remove it. And of course rust on a silver car will show up beautifully, never notice it on a red one though .... ;)
  6. So either you have more than 1Mb cable, .... or ... you have caching that confuses the throughput testing ????
  7. Status: Test completed... Bandwidth = 467.2 Kbps Plus that was while listening to Virgin and having my VPN into work running. BTconnect Satellite Broadband.
  8. I think Maceij has done this. Check his web site at http://www.z-car.net
  9. Judging by the langauge and grammar I'd say he's from England !

Well that's stock (UK) sized tyres, do you also have UK spec rear wheels. They're easy to spot because you can clearly see the bracing in the casting through the slots.

Have to concur with Hairsy, my car has now done 30,000 with boost jets and only the last 10,000 or so with an SE chip. Like him it was also enough extra power to trash the autobox ! ;)

It seems odd that an import would have four 8.5" rims - I'd double check that if I were you. Incidentally, one of the tricks they often use is to space out the rear 7.5" rims to make them look like the 8.5" from the outside. Never seen a car get over here like that, so maybe those parts are sold on in Japan before export.
  14. I know times may be hard etc but I really find it difficult to understand why people would want to buy secondhard parts that wear out so quickly, like shock absorbers (and brake disks etc) Peace
  15. The only part of the Z32 that I've never really liked much was the rear lights downwards. The std spoiler is fine, but the lights I'm just not sure of, but I haven't seen any of the mods I like better, but the big fat bumber - never really been a fan of that. It would be interesting to see a photoshop mock-up of a more modern TVR-style undercut rear end (Griff style perhaps) grafted onto a Zed. Anyone ?
  16. I'd be happy to host stuff that does not violate other peoples intellectual property or copyright, generally my site is just an index or directory so I don't have to worry about that, but I'd be happy to discuss it in more detail if you're interested.
  17. What about the flat panel speakers made by NXT, do they provide any decent bass ?
  18. Nope, definitely not. The SE chip is based on a late model Nissan map, I think Pete said it was something like a '94. And for the mysterious 51x: By offsetting the maps I mean that sometimes the parameters that are changed in the engine would take the map off the edge of the data space available. So what they do is offset the map such that, for example the area that would cover the rev range between 500 and 1500 is not used and the whole lot is shifted up to enable mode detail in the 6500-8000 range. Not a good example, but I guess you get the idea. Also, was just thinking about this earlier today whilst seeing a Boxter disappear in my mirrors at an indicated 165 (!) - what is the purpose of the high and low octane maps ? Could the low octane one be used after knock has been detected, as a safeguard to prevent engine damage ?
  19. Yup ! One of the tricks they use is to offset the maps, don't ask me how though. Also there are several different SE maps, plus the true custom stuff obviously. Do you know which one you have ?
  20. I agree, 5th Gear is definiteky the best of the current bunch.
