  1. Not sure if you've seen it recently, Matt's just welded in his cage and it looks pretty good, with a contrasting Takata green interior and white exterior

  5. I think a large part of it is down to the fact of how difficult it is to carry out simple maintainance and component changes compared to that of an SR or JZ and heat/venting If I remember correctly the suspension/steering setup is effectively the sama as a GTS-t so there are certain 'bits' available but nowhere near as much as 'S' bodies and the like I bet the Volvo was a hoot to drive

  7. Cowpatmatt is drifting his Z32 in BDC this year I believe, and I'm trying to haggle a place for the licensing day in March to get my BDC licence anyone who says that a Z32 or Z31 can't be drifted is talking complete theoretical bullshit The Z31 is a heavy underpowered beast; both my NA's were weak (probably about 150 brake tops) but they skidded as well as other big heavy cars with more punch. Balanced weight saving is essential when power is low If you can get access to a skid pan that'll save on tyres until you can source a good supplier of part worns and even better if you can get use of an old RAF airfield or driver training area Don't listen to some of the lifestyler BS'ers on driftworks, mostly guys who talk drift but don't do it, what I'd call cone heads 'cos that's the extent of their drift experience, skidding around cones in a car park An old Beemer 325/328 is a good start, or even an old Volvo Cowpatmatt is probably the best person to talk to right now as he's current, but if you really want to drift a zed I would recommend starting off by getting an old manual Z31 NA!!! not turbo and build up your skill base in that rather than starting out in a Z32; nothing to do with power and handling, purely from a cost perspective because they will break. My old Z32 didn't even come out to play and never will (the SWB is a different story) but be under no illusion, they will break and they will need looking after. I had two NA's (of which I blew the engine in one) and I had a tank of an NA that just kept on going. I had a turbo breaker that I robbed for spares and that was a Godsend in the end though, rust got the better of them all in I clocked up 17 days of solid skill honing on military training areas, police training areas, old airfields and the skid pan. Admin was a bit of a ball ache, as they had to be trailored everywhere (as both were sorn'd) and of course spare fuel is a must. I have attended absolutely zero organised 'drift days' so no skidding around cones in Chepstow race courses gravelly car park big timing it for me, but I can honestly say that I learnt a hell of a lot more from just getting on with it, getting some seat time and asking the right people the right questions. One of which is an ex-copper of all people, now working down Weathersfield training the MDP coppers. We had a few days at Millbrook just getting to grips with handling characteristics, it was priceless knowledge. I had free part worns from work, 16's and 17's which wasn't ideal as the handling does vary slightly (obviously never two different sizes at any one time!) but I had fun, more to the point and it cost me near as dam it nada! Get on driftworks mate, make sure that you 'search' for your answers before asking and take the big timing attitude of some with a pinch of salt, as the DW keyboard warriors truth be told, can't even drive yet so don't worry it can be done cheap but you need to do the ground work first don't go spending big $ on a pro spec/pre built S14a or something daft like that because it'll cost you a fortune just getting to a level where you can keep it going in the right direction (and I've had plenty of moments where my cockiness/confidence level far exceeded my skill level) but on an open airfield it doesn't matter ***DON't STREETO!!!*** if you do then you're a cnut! if you don't welcome to drifting! and if you already drift then you know all this anyway bud...

  9. Now that is true, they are stunning to look at and pull like a futher mucker' but they're just so fragile We travelled up to the midlands a few years ago to test drive a Noble and the guy who owned the place also had a few TVR's up for sale. My wife really like the Cerberra, it was stunning in a candy apple red flip paint, but was also considered to be the 'practical' option due to the number of seats and it's funky doors. It was a lot quicker than the Noble but surprisingly less than half the price We didn't buy the Noble in the end because the TVR was so much more car for the money, but we didn't buy the TVR either as a quick google highlighted some real running issues but yeah, I agree TVR have/had some genuine artistic design genious
  10. Yeah I've seen this mate ^^^ on the left hand side as you head up the M5 north bound I think it was; we followed the shat-nav to Exmouth and we missed our turning, next thing we see is exactly that....a bloody giraffe in a field???
  11. You could always help yourself out by dropping a Jun VG in there (3.2ltr) I believe and a bargain at only £25k
  12. But reality is you'll make no more than 56mph....as that's what the AA lorry is restricted to!
  13. Now I'm not really a bike fan but that is a beautiful looking machine, and definately needs to be ridden rather than just put on display so who is this customer, Jay Leno, Bruce Wayne or that other guy off Iron Man?
  14. I'll measure it tomorrow mate, I know the old one off my red zed was 58" and this one is wider I'm just giving the bumper and skirts another coat, and I'm waiting on vented fenders to turn up and rear bumper arch roller is en-route ready for the Volks to be fitted as soon as they turn up from Germany This build has got my wifes approval already, which go's to show the amount of progress made in such a short time compared to the other project, and best of all by using mostly modified parts/swapped parts from several other builds like I said previously, it won't be to most peoples taste but it's definately to mine
  15. Yeah, will do 'once it's ready' and it can't be wider than the width of the cars body, so in that regard it's mm perfect
  16. ***EDIT: I've just checked on an old thread and this wing is ORIGIN not URAS! Crap pic but just wanted to say that this wing is stunning I'll get some proper pics up of the whole build in the not too distant future
  17. but for track use it's ideal then
  18. you've gotta' love surprises like that!
  19. same questions as above mate? cheers
  20. How do you find it generally, is it quite clunky and heavy or pretty easy to live with not really interested in how it launches but more so wear and tear, and slippage during clutch kicking etc? also purchased in UK or imported mate?
  21. not yet, a few more days and most of the body work will have been painted and fitted by then, but here's an update on the front bumper, and the seat is in now I painted one of the skirts satin black last night, the other is a job for later on tonight the wing mirrors are spot on and really work with the lines rather than against them and I'm working on the main decal/graphics designs now, and have 4 decals being shipped from the US now Once the vented fenders have arrived and have been painted and fitted, I'll start a build thread Progress is fast and I'm loving every minute of this one Oh yeah, and my Sparco lid turned up in the post today....good times! :punk:
  22. Welcome mate what part of Sydney mate, your not Jeremy, married to Liza are you?
  23. I'll get it on the ramps and see which direction it heads in. I just spotted it yesterday and couldn't recall seeing one on the LWB when I stripped it
  24. Could anybody tell me what this braided line is running underneath the car? thanks
  25. a tad more than 'a little work' involved there though if I remember correctly
