Flushing an auto box....
not all tts have drain plugs especially imports, (you have to drop the pan) as for having fluid draining out while running i would say bad idea, only way is to flush under pressure, or drop pan, drain, put all back together, run then repeat, and maybe repeat again, so £100 to have it done under pressure once is probably cheap

got some bovs to fit, but any advantage to removing the recircs' or leaving them in? they don't "goose honk" and is it easier to leave them in place ie i wouldn't have to cap the pipes off would i?? thanks:)

japan hpi
as i said m8 h reg it will not have had an sva, so no comeback there and sva does not pick up on those kind of things, you can actually have bald tyres as long as they meet european specs, an sva is more for safety of pedestrians than the condition of the car, ie sharp nuts will fail, if the radio buttons protrude to much it will fail, so best to forget the sva route as it wont help, i would be more inclined to get a metal expert to look and let you know when he thinks the work was done, then look towards suing the garage

japan hpi
depends what year/how old your car is to whether it had an sva test or not ie over 10 years old when imported then it won't have had an sva, just mot and registration, if it has had an sva, then vosa will be able to tell you some things, but NOT if its been in a smash, they only check if its legal to go a british road, and conform to european standards the only way you can properly check the history of an imported car, is by first having the deregistraion of the car from japan, so you then know which area in japan dealt with it, so you need to start tracking the car back from last keeper etc

Speed camera detectors to be banned
laser jammers ARE illegal, as they interfere with a police signal ie they fire the laser at you, the jammer stops their signal, gives you time to slow down with a warning message/tone, turns itself off (the new one does) so when they then retry to get a reading your within the speed limit if you have automatic garage doors/gates the jammer operates on the same system;) can't see how they will make any gps device illegal, as all you are doing is using information publicly known, a lot of sat navs now have a camera base in them, are they going to make them illegal?? the high court decided that the radar transmission was not communicating a 'message' and therefore equipment designed to detect the presence of the transmission could not decode any such message. It was further stated that section 1(1) of the Act, which requires a licence for the reception of radio signals, has been superseded by the Wireless Telegraphy Apparatus (Receivers)(Exemption) Regulations (SI 1989 No123) which exempts radar detectors and similar equipment from the need for such licences not sure how any goverment is going to overturn that

Increase of mobile speed cameras! FFS
even if it was entraptment it's not generally illegal, the only type which is illegal is when the police create a crime, plant the idea of that plan into an otherwise innocent person's mind, and then carry out the plan just to prosecute someone, and i wouldn't have thought a speeding case would hold up:(

insurance question
did anyone see the mess Ian Wright made of his ferrari? it seems not only did he have no tax, his insurance could now be looking into it as he switched off the traction control, i wonder if they could say the same if hicas is removed etc??? never mind his motor was a paltry £120,000

Nicked for my number plate
the ONLY way round it regarding imports is if the car doesnt have a European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval, which in the case of the zx doesnt apply as there is an equivilant uk model, and even then if there isnt one your number plate still must be certain size, you'll have to check dvla's site for the sizes, as the car didn't need a number plate for an sva test it's your responsibilty re you not getting another plate m8, if they get arsey they can remove your car from the road:(

Digging a pit. Info needed!
i wouldnt worry to much about drainage m8 you could have some raised wooden slats on the floor, which would make any spillage drop below your footing, and easy to clean up when you want the most important thing is the wall strengths, so any weight from cars is not bendng the walls and make it dangerous for you
-
Digging a pit. Info needed!
if your digging one inside, you wouldnt need any drain (a french drain is an old fashioned method for drainage lol) don't know about planning, i'd assume you would as your going deeper than the foundations, and if your gonna do one then do it properly, steps and deep enough so you aint gonna crick your neck;)

Greece

Lmfao!!!!!!!!
yep one letter out i THINK ive heard of a company called FKUC (yep wrong but swear filter won't allow it)?? 'dem germans would have been knackered if you had been able to ban their fokker :p you have a member with RAPER in his name, is he one?? im sure i could find some other "offensive" ones as i said m8 do what you have to do, i deffo won't lose any sleep over it stress aint a part of my life, if i wake up tomorrow and me car blows up then all the worrying in the world is not gonna fix it, i just offered an opionion as to some of the reasoning behind scoops removal, i also use many different sites, and don't use the same user name on them (ive know some daft people use the same name and password :nono: ) now if you had banned scoops for being an everton supporter i could understand THAT

Lmfao!!!!!!!!
2 things here that seriously undermine what you have done AEROTOP DAVE posted in that thread "Suggest you read other threads to get a more balanced view of what we're about. Does reading one thread and assuming the whole forum is bad fall into the 'guilty until proven innocent' approach you dislike" funny that 'cos you read one persons login name and decided he was gone???????????? and the most hypocritical part, you have made it clear if he paid he can then post using that name??? so for a couple of quid his name becomes less offensive does it?????? at the end of the day it's your forum, do as you will, but be men enough to admit your wrong

How much
yep i would advise anyone buying a freshly imported car to ask for the japanese de-registration document (and the translation) as they are quite easy to dechiper, a m8 actually altered his by 7 months to avoid the sva, but they sussed it, and told him to register again with the sva docs' we did warn him he risked getting done for fraud, for the sake of £160 and to make his car 7 months OLDER, but i'm sure there are a LOT of places who will TRY and do it the opposite way BUYER BEWARE and as kim34 has sensibly done ask advice first;)
-
How much
not sure how they do that m8? having registered a "few" imports, you have to have the original japanese year of registration document (and translation) the car is then assigned the matching year plate to this country, its even a nightmare to get a personal plate, it's easier to get it registered THEN re reg on a private plate but having said that did they make a zx in japan that would be a p reg????
