  1. although win 98 and xp were produced by mr slimey (gates) they are basically two different os, so as above m8 the hassle that will be caused is a nightmare, IF thats the way you want to go, then try this checker first, should tell you what drivers etc you maybe missing to work under xp http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/howtobuy/upgrading/advisor.asp then any your missing you can grab before attempting a full install
  2. actually it is also the garages who are screwing us check out the AA petrol price checker for your area i price checked a few garages in my area and there was 5p a difference per litre, scotland wales etc rural areas are being ripped big style, almost £1 a litre, one garage in chelsea is charging £1-12p :( there's no arguement petrol tax has always been a rip-off, as it is about 70%-75% depending on what you drive, back in 1998 tax was 83% heres the cruncher and one of the main reasons why the uk WANTS high oil prices, the uk amongst the other eu countries is THE major oil exporter and the pound at the moment is high against the euro, so high oil prices more cash for the uk, im sure i read that the oil industry in the uk employs about THIRTY FIVE THOUSAND people, so don't expect any uk goverment to try to hard to drive down oil prices, especially as north sea oil has a limited life now if you were in business selling say jeans and had bought your stock for a year, would you be lobbying the major suppliers to drop their prices, knowing it would mean you have to sell cheaper???? i'd still like to know why as we produce oil, why ours isn't cheaper?? and for those green party/friends of the earth lovers they want HIGHER fuel prices
  3. so you would rather they kept the 2p?? when i say applaud i mean give them credit for bowing under public pressure
  4. after all that m8, lol as far as i remember THAT WAS THE GOOD BITS :( yep thats the beauty of our country, democracy, and id be very surprised after all the bad things labour have supposed to have done if they are voted out, as to many people (in my opionion) are far better off today than under the tories, i also remember record numbers of house repossesions under the tories, as emero says i don't think voting these lot out will improve our lives the last petrol protest they reckon was a partial success, now i couldn't imagine the tories listening to peoples opinions, the miners were crushed because thatcher was determined they were going to be beaten, i think rather than getting the tories back we should try and change the things we don't like, i was scepticle when i heard blair today say the rise in petrol was under review, but i think he realises people can only be pushed so far, but i'll applaud them if do have a rethink (not enough but a start)
  5. most sensible post ive read yet, most of the things people are attacking this goverment for, were introduced by the tories just look round your house at the gadgets you have, look in your kids rooms and see what they have, no labour didn't supply them, but i'd be very sceptical if you could have afforded them under the tories thatcher the milk snatcher the poll tax privatisation destroying the coal and steel industry 3 day week cemetary strikes (do people remember bodies waiting to be buried??) power cuts means testing the genuine sick inner city riots unemployment doubled etc etc etc i also remember so well life under the tories, and i sincerley hope NEVER AGAIN
  6. i did mine on a 4 poster, and obviously you need a LARGE rectangular pan which you hold up under the box as you start to release the pan, (helps if two of you) if its just a change then you change the oil it drops, if your changing because its contaminated or burnt, then you need to change the oil about 3 times to try and make sure the torque converter gets changed as well, this means running the car between changes
  7. true to all the above, but third party is the only cover you will have so if you "break" your bruvs car, you won't be covered unless your a named driver
  8. hence my statement last week in the road angel etc thread, there is not a chance on this earth i would let some jumped up magistrates decide my guilt/innocence the closest most of them come to understanding the law is they watch the bill  as above i reckon he will win his appeal hands down, how can they ban him?? it is not a motoring related matter, it's a bit like banning you from keeping a dog 'cos you smashed a window
  9. yes plenty to be had on here, worth checking them first to be honest a car is one of the safest things you can buy on ebay no "sane" person is gonna bid 4-5k etc on a car without looking at it are they??????or if you do bid, and it's not as described then you walk away legally if it's not as described then you've every right on your side, and so what if the muppet gives you bad feedback, 1 bad feedback or you keep your dosh, no contest
  10. as above m8, easiest and best option is the stand alone dvd recorder ive done away with videos and now use only panasonic dmr's record thousands of times onto a ram disc no loss of quality recently came back from holiday and diggy camcorder stuff straight onto dvd-discs you can even put your photos on to them, and bore the shit out of everyone for hoursssssssssss lol
  11. yep once people arrive here they have already bought their motor so those who advertise are selling to very few, auto trader/ebay has the whole country to go at and many thousands as MikeGroves says some people know what they are worth and the work they have put into them, would be good if maybe you could get this site into a search engine somewhere when people are trying to source a zx, lol a weekly entry in the trader paid for by the sellers, the link would take 'em to a lovely collection:)
  12. try starting here m8, not neccesarily the cheapest, but give you an idea http://www.confused.com/
  13. sorry but sad to say i have to agree with goit, (not about clarkey's car but prices) you only have to look at the selling forum, how many are selling at the moment? advertised, a week later price drops, check out the auto trader at the minute, type in minimum price, and national you could buy 3 for what the z was going for a year ago, and its ok saying the dealer maybe selling a shed, if the engine and box is sound, it's worth that in spares AND IT'S LEATHERED 3 adverts down theres a 1990 uk manual tt leathered, service history £2.995 the imports ARE NOT going to stop coming, the real new ones may do, and only then if they need a model report as for it's only zx's prices dropping, i think you'll find all jap' sports are taking a nose dive, my m8 has recently sold a mint mr2 fully specced for £2750 cost him more than that at an auction and regged it, only had it 6 months another has an rx7, and looks like he's gonna take a serious hit on it, as they have dropped badly i think the only way to look at it is if youve got one and not selling, *****cks to what the market says, your happy the cars a piece of class, the days of buying one as an investment are well gone
  14. not unless its a big claim m8, and the insurers then start asking for their own reports, its enough to have her doctor/hospital stating that she has what she claims, unless you do the donkey work ie witnesses, i doubt the insurance would contest it, for a small amount, not worth the grief for them
  15. basically your word against hers m8:( and the insurers won't push it unless they can prove she is lying i know a woman who had an accident, no problem one guy in the car, when she got the details he was claiming 4 OF THEM IN THE CAR, guess what all whiplash, she phoned the insurers, who said "unless she can prove it, then the claim would go ahead" so don't wonder why so many companies up insurance:(
  16. i agree with you there m8 back to the previous post, re my wifes pajero, they sent her a new quote as its due for renewal 9th june, sorted it with houghtons to transfer to them, so rang my brokers and cancelled the insurance, she told me to cancel the direct debit, went online to do it, and even though the policy doesn't start until the 9th the arses have already took the payment PLUS the new 20% downpayment:( rang them back and it will take 7 days to reimburse by cheque, i wonder how many people cancel an insurance and get stiffed by not checking properly whats being taken out:(
  17. don't think you would have that hassle with Houghtons m8 as they deal in imports, , deffo not got that problem with her pajero as that is an import model only, ive got a jag parked up for the winter and last time i asked them to quote me on that, as insurance is due in august, their quote was A QUARTER of what im paying now, fully comp, same value etc so deffo going with them in august:)
  18. i saw this post and for some reason thought mine was bang on £300 just got the docs out to retax the zx and my insurance is £205-40p with houghtons:) ive just rung them as the wifes pajero is due, and they have halved the quote i got from norwich union, so needless to say another car insured with them:)
  19. http://www.meanstreetcruise.com/index.php
  20. he hasn't gone m8, so may well have been him
  21. i think you must have got a right pleb on the phone m8 norwich union are one of the few who have no quibbles about insuring imports, my first insurance on the z was with them, and have insured two different pajeros with them
  22. as i said m8 not a banker it's gonna cure the problem but for the sake of about £10 for fluid got to worth a go at short notice i guess your gonna struggle to get a gasket from a motofactors place a nissan dealer  probably would be the best lol but i wouldn't hold your breathe, as i did mine at short notice i didnt change mine and luckily got away with it:)
  23. i know a few are thinking about getting one, so just a warning for those who like the newest toys lol, ive just rang them as i saw a new version advertised and they put me in touch with a supplier of theirs, as i wanted to know if they would trade my old one in, so they're giving me £200 against the old version the old one still works exactly the same, just a few mods to the new one the laser alert is now part of the new one, not an add on, it has the option of voice warnings a more compact unit, now also warns for schools BUT the old version memebrship was free for 12 months, then £49 per year, £79 for two years or £99 for life the new one is £50 per year £99 for 3 but it's unclear yet if it's going to have a lifetime subscription, check here for the looks, im hoping to have the new one delivered tomorrow, (royal mail permitting lol) so will let you know i just thought it would look a lot tidier in the car than the old one with one less unit http://www.blackspot.com
  24. yep schools etc ive no problem siting cameras how many times have you seen the local knobheads roaring past schools or high streets to get their jollys off, cos all the kids will look at them? and i'll bet even the kids say DICKHEADDDDDDDDDDDD what makes me laugh is the road angel has a blackspot detector, and NOT ONCE when it's bleeped in one of those areas has there been a camera?? HULLO accident areas should = camera
