  1. Now read the post again, SOME insurances if you think insurance companies won't do their best to wriggle out of a claim for whatever reason they can find, i suggest you give up driving cars and get a bike;) so a wooden garage will stop a smackhead will it?? they don't go through roofs or panels?? once in a garage they are far safer to spend time doing whatever than in an open street as i said theres no hard and fast rules with insurances, if there was most of us wouldnt be paying through the nose every time we renew ive actually got a unit, where i park me jag all winter and believe me ive studied ALL the small print and the wormy clauses insurances use, its great getting this insurance and that, the BIG test is the claim btw at the moment i pay £440 a year for a fully comp' traders policy which covers me and the wife for any of our vehicles ive known people claiming they have a garage or park their motors in the drive, and when the claim assesor comes out, they want to see the mythical garage, or the non-existent drive, and result, claim denied as i said m8, read all the small print don't just think great im insured as the insurance is a minefield;)
  2. most of the shops etc say FROM, and the from is usually 15" then seem to go up by £200-£300 per inch
  3. you will actually find some insurance companies charge more when the car is garaged, as it is double hazard, fire in the garage cars gone, roof caves in cars gone, a cat' 1 alarm reduces insurance a LOT more than where you park it ;)
  4. for 3k m8, id go the import auction route, but get to know the car your after read this forum, check out the signs of clocking etc you can get some good cars through the import auctions, but visit a few times before deciding to buy, as you can also get some dogs, on the whole i'd say, they're better quality than the run of the mill auctions i know a few people from the north east who travel to the north west jap auction every week, ive so far bought 7 vehicles from there, 3 sports, and touch wood nothing to regret so far, i was down there wed' and a 1990 zx black/leathered/tt went for 2.5k but was a dog (bodywise) yet ive seen others mint for a few hundred more, after buying you have to pay for registration and tax (£128) and within a week your on the road, (more if its under 10 years, but not for 3k) i can't honestly see you getting a car for 3k via the trader/ebay etc and be happy with it, as most have said you get what you pay for, and generally 3k will buy you someone elses heartache :(
  5. no they have to take you, if you were onroute to m/c as long as your over 1/4 mile from home as Andyp says, make sure they don't get the car running when you say the car has been in a garage some time, does that mean its not t+t ?? as technically they have a get out there, BUT i cant see an A.A. bloke asking for evidence of mot, but if the car looks like it has been parked up for some time, and no tax in the window
  6. Relay – if we can't arrange a prompt repair, we'll transport you, your car and up to seven passengers home, or to any mainland destination you deffo won't break down on a saturday and get them to transport you on a sunday m8, as above the safest thing is to be on the motorway even if its the start of it, sat in aside street in london, theres no rush to get you shifted, on the motorway they HAVE TO move you
  7. lol they have an interesting addy looks like you can get tea while you get fleeced http://www.kroad.co.nz/kroad/listings/results.asp?c=Cafes
  8. reply that "i do acknowledge this offer and i will forward my car to your customer when i receive the £5200, as I DO have an obligation to my family and my bank, if these terms are not acceptable, please do not waste my time, your time and fill up my inbox with diarrhea of the text variety, i look forward to receiving your customers payment for the ashtray and other bits you require"
  9. as plenty have said its all down to personal preference BUT if you were really interested in our opinions, you would have asked these questions BEFORE you bought a gto, its a bit like asking a tony blair what he thinks of the tories, i did have thoughts of a gto BEFORE i bought the zx, and weighed up all the factors, most important for me, was the smile factor, and the zx certainly gives me that PLUS if your a bit dyslexic people may think you own a FTO now SOD THAT lol
  10. "and yes the engine was turnning but not firing, that's what the problem was." lmao your having an early april fools joke arn't you?? cos in your first posts in this thread the car wasn't turning over if you had told us it was, you could have saved yourself a bundle of cash and had the car running a week ago lol
  11. im sure they'll be able to suss it by the number m8;)
  12. this might help m8? http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=29437&highlight=paypal
  13. according to my lad, its street cred to pick him up from school if the cars on gran turismo 4 lol, and mines pretty standard to some of the nice machines, some of you have
  14. yep the offset between those number BUT i THINK the offset fot the z is offset-- 35...42
  15. a compression test would not really tell you if the head gasket is gone, but it should show any "noticable" difference between cylinders, also You will not see the oil in water symptom if the gasket is just broken between two adjacent cylinders, not really an expert on tt, but best to start at the cheapest option first i guess
  16. mailed you m8, let me know any problems ;)
  17. yes m8, its a guy salmon built job only 250 ever made, and i doubt many if any are left in this country took me a longggggggggggggg time to find one in this nick its been garaged all its lfe, last few years done about 500 miles between mot's, i got it with FULL service history every mot, like the zx makes me smile every time i drive it, although its 5.3 cc i wouldn't say theres much diiference in mpg than the zx deffo not the punch the zx has got, but horses for courses AND it cost me a lot more than the zx (and the xjs on the reg plate IS part of the number that came with it ;) )
  18. the guy is based in northampton m8, but does travel the country yes i think the remote start is a grey area, but who's gonna tell 'um lol IF anyone did manage to get in the car, as it stays locked, the minute a pedal is touched it cuts the engine, if the key is not inserted and you will get a certificate i can post the phone number, but i don't want to be treading on anyones toes?? then you can ring them for options i have a camera down my drive way, and the remote start/panic bit is just the job for stray cats etc lol
  19. kwik fit/national tyres etc are a big no no would you let an 18 year old kid mess with your engine?? potentially your letting someone who aint got a clue, apart from hes probaly been taught on a fiesta, mess with your pride and joy, and maybe your life funny some people will fix a split wiper blade, yet ignore a bubble/split worn tyre which your gonna take to over 100mph for all you guys in nottingham i'd steer clear of the above and follow dixonjohns link
  20. ive actually got a jag cabriolet, which gets looks all the time i bought the zx as im sure you all know what the british winter does to jags, anyway i was surprised when i got in the nissan that it gets the same amount of attention, and with throaty exhausts it gets them looking from further away lol heres me jag, which im sure a lot will hate it lol, but believe me its gorgeous to drive, BUT im having so much fun with the zx, the jag may stay away most of the summer (especially if i can find some wheels a spoiler) as you maybe able to see its also a targa top ;)
  21. here i think http://www.angelfire.com/geek/vg30dett/Cluster/Fix_Cluster.htm
  22. did you receive ok m8?? no rush as i know you have to wait for it to clear etc wanted to just check it landed
  23. i wouldn't have thought there is an easy way apart from via the starter motor m8 as mtl said and if it's a diy job, your gonna have to be careful, it doesn't short out while your working under there, would make picking your nose in future a pain with shortened fingers lol
  24. http://www.justoffbase-tools.co.uk/tools.asp?parent=1I4160P1839M0
  25. i think 95% of people think the same m8 ;) i only know cos my m8 is an m.o.t. tester also i've recently sva'd/mot'd a couple of cars, and the laws are a joke where import cars are concerned
