As far as I am concerned richly deserved Tom - well done and a big thank you from me for all you do for the Club.
  2. Have you checked the PTU connections for corrosion? Common problem. The earlier PTU's are also prone to failure. This is the wiring diagram for the ignition system if you need to trace back to the ECU. Also check that the ECU plug is properly seated, take it off and carefully plug back in.
  3. Alex, sorry to read about the reason for the sale of your lovely Z - my best wishes to you.
  4. Was the odometer still working after the speedometer failed? The speedo gauge itself has a signal processing function from the speed sensor (analogue wave form) to the electronics for the ECU/HICAS/Power Steering/Cruise Control and the odometer. Knowing either way will help to narrow down the fault.
  5. Before you move on to trace the circuit back to the speedo. You might want to be aware of this intermitent fault condition with the sensor and the fix. The end cap on your sensor has moved out of its original position (arrowed). I've attached the document which gives more details: Speed Sensor - Visual Inspection.pdf
  6. Dielectric silicone grease will help to prevent the ingress of moisture and oxidation/corrosion of the injector connectors.
  7. Geat to see the workmanship in those repairs Alex.
  8. Running extremely rich is also a symptom of failed damper (FD). It's worth replacing the FPR and FD as a matter of course as they can fail with age. Details in link. http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/forums/general/view/2610744/Here-is-how-it-works.html
  9. Best wishes on your Birthday Lee!
  10. I removed the UK specific oil cooler support brace to get the single and then dual HKS filters to fit. I fabricated a small bracket to support the oil cooler fixed to the auxilary fan plastic cage (arrowed below). Its been in place for years without problem.
  11. You have the invertor for the EL panels? Black box below.
  12. Thanks for taking the time to write up an amazingly detailed blog Adam - all credit to you.
  13. Best wishes Joel.
  14. Best wishes Andy...
  15. That should have bedded in your new '99 spec box!
  16. There is Steve: https://www.300zx-owners.club/forums/topic/139080-what-did-you-do-to-your-zed-today/?do=findComment&comment=1769500
  17. Google lens translate agrees! On a stock ECU that is the ECU diagnostics pot to get the red LED to the right of it to flash error codes. The FSM has the details. Japanese aftermarket ECUs tend to be mapped for the higher octane fuel that is available in Japan (~100 ron) and are usually more agressive in the fueling and timings as a result. This can cause issues with detonation when the using lower grades of fuel in the UK. It all depends on the mapping Impul did.
  18. Best wishes on your Birthday Richard!
  19. Welcome to the Club Dan and the start of your Z32 adventure!
  20. You might also want to check the targa drains for free flow.
  21. Merry Christmas to one and all and best wishes for 2024!
  22. Stock low beam bulbs are H3 (UK spec) and H3C (JDM). The base plate is the same for both types. Aftermarket LED types will need to have the same "H3" baseplate to fit.
