  1. Ok, just wanted to be clear that the compression test was carried out with the compression test plug done up (wouldn't be the first time that has happened). If the engine is a write-off (beyond economical repair) are you prepared to do an engine swap on this car? Is the rest of the car mechanically sound? On the body work, apart from the areas you have described previously, how does the rest of the car look, have you had her up on a ramp for inspection?
  2. What do you mean?
  3. Here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOILER-CASING-FOAM-SINGLE-SIDED-4MTR-HAYES-BRAND-NEW-/151255570525?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Hearing_Cooling_Air&hash=item233788d85d There are other vendors on ebay selling the same. I actually did mine with 12mm foam sheet cut into 12mm strips.
  4. Very neat job! Did you reapply the foam strip to the metal cone that is spot welded to the front of the bracket? It completes the acoustic seal between the door itself and the door card. You can see it here:
  5. Its best to think of the soundstage you are trying to recreate in the car. Normally when you listen to live music the soundstage is in front of you. What comes from the behind you is reflected sound and/or audience noise. So the rear speakers just need to to do the job of "filling" in. Simple mid range speakers will do the job, no treble is needed as it just spreads the front soundstage behind you. Set them up so that you are just aware of sound coming from behind you as you adjust the F/R fader.
  6. Well I hope you stick with it and get her sorted, that way you will end up with a desirable UK spec car (and in a lovely colour).
  7. Why don't you just use the side lights?
  8. Nicely polished plenum! Did you do that yourself?
  9. This site is useful: http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/house Try out the interactive house.
  10. It is? I must be colour blind then, I always thought it was blue! I would also vote for the *green* car if was in the COM competition.
  11. An explanation: http://s95014253.onlinehome.us/63104/138229.html
  12. Very nice indeed, you must be chuffed to bits owning her.
  13. Actually he is a New Zealander...
  14. Best wishes on your Birthday Joel!
  15. Not often you see a Type III Rear Wing on a 2+2. Suits the 2+0 better I feel.
  16. I've not taken one apart so I don't know if that is posssible, but as you will need to find a pod to get the cc switch I would have thought you might just as well replace the entire pod. For the tell-tale light when the fogs are on you could use the "Cruise" light position in the dash.
  17. Well if that is the case, get hold of a pod with the cc switch and reuse that with a relay to control the rear fog lights.
  18. Have you got crusie control? The cc switch position looks like a blank or have the legends worn off?
  19. Good, that will save spending more money on Office then.

  21. With the XP support cutoff approaching and the system drive on my desktop giving up today with terminal h/w failures I will make the switch to W7 64bit (I'm not interested in W8). Fortunately I have an XP laptop to get onto the Internet with. I need to be able to run lagacy XP apps (Word, Excel etc) so I am looking at the W7 Pro with 32bit support. Where can I get genuine MS copies of W7 64bit for the lowest cost? I will need two copies. I'm happy to pay, but would like try and avoid the sort of prices I'm seeing advertised if that is possible. The system itself is based on a Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 Rev 1.0 motherboard and Intel E6600 overclocked to 3GHz. I've checked that it will support W7 64bit with updated Gigabyte drivers which I can download. It has 4Gb of RAM. There are two additional data drives (all SATA). I'm not interested in RAID. Is there anything that springs to mind in making this move which will help me in making as painless as possible? Many thanks!
