  1. You can strongly bond the riveted metal brackets to the doorcard fibre material by treating the area with Ronseal wood hardener and then using epoxy adhesive (or similar). The wood hardener soaks into the fibre rather like fiberglass resin and mat and dries to provide a stable surface for the adhesive to bond to.
  2. Along with applying a light grade oil, you can also adjust the set screw - correct tension is necessary for the fan to work without squealing. http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/FAQ/FAQpages/tempfan.html
  3. Best wishes on your Birthday Tom!
  4. My way of dealing with the problem (now two for the dual maf setup), is have the HKS filters mounted as high as possible behind the '89 spec bumper and the upper slot in the bumper covered by the number plate.
  5. Much the better course of action and I look forward to your "What did you do to your zed today?" post to say that you have carried out the cambelt change.
  6. Having read the "for sale" post, I think you are going to have lots of fun with your new project - well done!
  7. No need to drill holes: When you are using cavity wax in the sill sections (I used Dinitrol aerosol cavity wax with 60cm lance) it helps to know where you are trying to get to with the product. This photo shows the complex sill structure in cross section. You can get at the various sections from inside the car, the plastic door sill plate fixings and the hole at the front of the sill located behind each front plastic wheel arch liner. 8. Best wishes for the rebuild and it will be great to see your car join the band of Blues Brothers!
  9. Congratulations on your purchase and great to see a Euro spec car back in good hands! All three pumps (2 for front and rear windscreens and 1 for headlights) are mounted on the washer reservoir. Item 7 is the headlight washer pump.
  10. Surprisingly it has been done to a slicktop in the US.
  11. The correct torque setting for the pulley bolt is 159-174 ft-lb. I've attached the FSM page showing this for you. I always follow Nissan's recommended torque settings when working on the car and would urge you to do the same - it is good engineering practice. em-12.pdf
  12. The chart shows 5W/30 is OK to use between -30C and +15C whist 10W/30 is OK between -20C and +40C. They have shown the 10W30 in the same group as 10W/40 and 10W/50 which to me is pushing the upper limits of a 10W/30 oil in a VG30DETT and to me makes that chart somewhat confusing. I feel that Nissan was limited in the viscosity range (?W to /??) and performance of multigrade oils available circa '90. So they are showing owners what was generally available at the time and their suitability in a range of conditions. Since I have owned the car (18 years and 45K miles) I have allways used Mobil 1 5W/40 and more recently Mobil 1 0W/40 oils. I don't use the car on the track and have had no problems with that grade of oil. The car doesn't use oil between changes.
  13. It does? If you mean the 5W/20 and 5W/30 for turbos, then the /20 and /30 bits are the parts of interest (in the chart you posted). 5W/20 is too thin under any circumstances and 5W/30 unless in very cold environments.
  14. Not sure which bit you mean is too thin. The viscosity performance at 100°C is the the /30 and /40 bits and normally /40 (and up) are suitable for use in the UK. The winter values (5/, 10/) are all in the range suitable for use in the UK.
  15. I'd love to see a photo of the car when you have a minute, not many UK spec cars around now.
  16. Thanks, I'll buy a copy tomorrow. I'm sure Joel is chuffed to bits to have his car featured, well done!
  17. According to the Diablo owner I meet at the NEC Classic car show Lamborghini have their own stock of new Z32 headlights. He also mentioned that the carbon fiber strip added by Lamborghini to hide the Nissan logo cost £300 a pair to buy!
  18. I went with replacing the stock bushes with ones from Nismo. This link covers the details (the first pic with the eight bushes are the ones 54541-RS580 and 54545-RS580): http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?180283-Stock-tension-rods-and-upper-control-arms-(front)&p=1858071&viewfull=1#post1858071
  19. Yes, for service access to the ABS unit's bleed nipples. Although yours looks to be the type that Nissan used which didn't come with them. The insulation on mine is the same. You should have a plastic trim cover that hides all that.
  20. What is wrong with it? Looks stock to me.
  21. Best wishes on your Birthday Jason!
  22. Wishing you all a jingly, jolly Christmas!
