  3. once the gearbox is removed, the engine will want to lean back against the bulkhead, just watch it doesn't crush/snap/break anything matey, i wedge a bit of wood there...
  4. this any help matey? http://www.zcar.com/forums/read/3/1257063/1257063#msg-1257063
  5. hahaha, yellow ALL DAY LONG! reminded me of a bad joke, here goes, brace yourselves... 3 blokes sat in a pub, talking non-sense, (as we do), 1st guy says, 'hmmmm, i wonder what the fastest thing in the world is?, i think it's sound, because as soon as you say something, ya can hear it'. 2nd bloke says, 'nah mate, i think it's electricity, because the instant you press the light switch, the light comes on'. 2rd bloke says, 'nah, your both wrong, it's diarohea, i was in bed last night with the runs, and before i could shout for help or switch the light on, I'd shat myself!'. hahahaha, appologies :) then a fourth bloke called Tudor said, 'nah, it's a yellow Zed, because i got in it the other day, switched my lghts on and floored it, was doin 170 before i shat myself, haha'
  6. a little tip, something i did, might not be as usueful for a swap, but i got a big box of small tie-wraps, lots of different colours, and each pipe, plug etc, i put for eg. a red one on each end, then another pipe, a green one on each end, and if i ran out of colours or might have been confusion, then a red and green, or two reds etc. bit different doing a swap, but atleast you could copy them onto your other engine, and ya snip the tails off em, and they are still there should you need to take it out again... I've always split the box first, the most annoying part i found was removing the ancillaries, other than that, lots of double checking and patience, and when you come to lift it, just a little at a time, check round make sure you haven't missed anything, up a bit more, check again etc... best of luck mate, it's a bit of a joyess moment once its free and you can jack away, and the lump is swinging there infront of you! have fun mate... i've got a hoist, but it's a bit of mooch for ya!
  7. cheers paul, had the engine out a couple of times, so i'm clued up with where it all is, cheers for the offer tho matey! thats what i was thinking, cut all the pipes off, and if i can tilt the engine forward a bit more than usual, no gearbox so should move easier, get the bolts out... i'll make some blanking plates for the plenum, but anyone know the spec of the manifold bung? and i'm thinking that could be a ball ache to get too aswell, ain't gonna come out without a fight...
  8. aaaaaargh, stop it, i'm on the wagon for a bit! very sad looking fridge at the mo, just useless shit like milk and eggs, bad times :(
  9. would the problem be the length of the 2 bolts touching the bulkhead? should be able to chop the other 3 pipes, then just them bolts i'm thinking?
  10. was thinking of just cutting everything i could, removing it bit by bit... will weigh it up next time i get it on the lifter...
  11. the autobox has a seperate ECU... i've got a mines in mine too after conversion, nay probs, just had to adjust the timing, summet to with the neutral switch not telling the ECU it's in neutral...
  12. can it be removed with the engine in situ, but the gearbox, clutch and flywheel removed? Gotta fit a new rear oil seal, and would like to junk the EGR really...
  13. Now this is unlucky!!!! http://www.theprovince.com/Travel/Sister+hits+moose+visit+sister+moose/3184606/story.html
  14. hahahaha, very funny all be it a bit sick! the joys of bein young eh? haha... Slightly similar story, 60 mph in a mk1 punto, pigeon came out and hit the drivers side headlight square on (was accidental, not like you mate :) and it quite literally exploded, and i mean exploded, blood and guts up the bonnet, windscreen and and a bit of entrails on the roof, all covered in feathers, instant death, slightly disturbing as i am an animal lover, but it's demise was rather cartoon-ish!
  15. good question mate, got a slight crunch going 1st to 2nd, and a noise in neutral without the cluch depressed, gonna do mine soon too, unless i can get another one for cheap to do...
  16. will do mate, but theres deffo play in them, didn't notice owt else, but will double check... cheers.
  17. she's not on the road yet, so only done test drives, so haven't been able to notice it, but got her on the lifter and had a good mess with everything and picked it up, cheers matey...
  18. after getting her on a lifter for the first time, have got very slight play in both sides on the back wheels, it's these... Are they the outer ball joints? I'm guessing a slight bit of play is not normal....
  19. it does say 'Easy DIY installation' :) keep us posted matey....
  20. i would say the mechanical boost gauge is easiest to install, and accurate, just tap into a vac line on the plenum and job done...
