  1. No help to you what-so-ever, but just thought I'd share it, when I took my drivers side door card off for the first time, to repair the power window module, I found a siren in there, no longer wired up... (and also, every nut and bolt was loose, after tightening everything up, the car is far quieter when driving, no more annoying rattles...)
  2. Unfortunately not mate... I remember it well tho, even remember my Mam, merry on champagne, nearly dropping one of the targas, I can still hear a thousand people going 'Ooooooohhhhhhhhh', haha.
  3. I went to the launch party in '89, I was 6, my dad was playing in the band for the big ceremony do, I loved it, and that day I said I was gonna get one, took a while, but I have :)
  4. This is mine, he's my great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great Grandad. Probably.....
  5. Before I go out and most likely get rather merry, I just wanted to wish everyone on here, a happy new year, and many thanks to all of you for all the help over the years, I hope you all have a trouble free year of Zedding (unlikely, but you never know!) All the best y'all.... Tudor.
  6. Hahaha, I'm with ya there mate! Being polite and talking to them, always smack bang in the middle of a crucial part of the job, and as they are being nice and interested, all you can think of, in the nicest possible way, is piss off, please, hahaha...
  7. Other than the drive shaft nuts, it's dead straight forward and easy, just have to take pictures of the handbrake shoe assembly before taking apart. Give the grinding method a go, I did try it my self, but like I said, I was hitting the hub with a lump hammer, and I just didn't like it, cast (can be) quite brittle, and I have broke a couple of cast things in the past being heavy handed, so after a few proper whacks and no movement, I just removed it (as I said, it was coming off anyways, but thought it would be more solid to work on whilst on the car, then my mate bought a hydraulic press, so off it came)... Also, a little tip, I think it is also in the walkthrough to this, but I welded an old socket the right size to drift it out, onto a length of thin metal dowel, just so I could hold it in place without my hand being near the hammer, no chance of whacking your hand then.... Either way mate, persist and you will achieve :)
  8. As said, removing the hub isn't bad at all really, UNTIL you get to the drive shaft end nut, (which you should tackle first) you'll probably find one side is ridiculously tight, and the other is 10 times worse, I snapped everything I had (good stuff too), impact wrench no use, so I bought a 3/4" 5 foot breaker bar, and that sorted it out. But, I had to borrow a humongous puller, and I mean crazy big, 3 foot long, like something out of a sci-fi film just to seperate the drive shaft from one of the hubs (had to remove the drive shaft with hub, but I wanted to do that anyways). Once off, would be easier to take the hub to your local garage, see if they'll press in/out for a few beer tokens, gives you a chance to cleans things up too. Me personally, I was removing the subframe for clean up/renewal/paint anyways, but I would still remove the hub as I'm not keen on whacking cast things with big hammers...
  9. 20 quid? Can't go wrong... It'll take a while as there's so many of them, but it'll be worth it, maybe get a mate who could help, twice as quick then!
  10. Should be pretty easy to drill and tap tho, it's ony alloy, just don't over tighten, and as said, a bit of threadlock too...
  11. Easier solution, but not as good, you could just remove the plastic bolts, cut the heads off some stainless bolts and glue them in the holes with some reet good glue, that's all mine has from standard, I tried unscrewing one when I first got the car 5 years ago, superglued it back in, still there!
  12. that wasn't directed at you matey at all, was covering my own back :)
  13. And the car is also far too intact to have removed three bodies from and investigated, but, as said, that's not the point...
  14. no, this one  but yeah that looks like it, really is lovely in the flesh, if i ever do a colour change it will be that... Also, something like that with a silver base coat done right would look epic, so the silver shines through just a teeny tiny bit, aka house of kolor stylee
  15. Back to the future (of course) Can't believe you said DARYL, vods, data analysing robotic youth lifeform, haha, had forgot all about that... Labyrinth Drop dead fred Space Jocks (I think? Giant massive robots with pilots inside) Tremors War of the worlds (original) Charlie's Anals Shaving Private Ryan
  16. Women can't drive??? (ooohhhhh :hang:) on a serious note, yep, terrible crash, speeding is bad, using a phone is bad, I'm a smoker, and I will wait till I'm stopped and safe before I'll light a cig, all too often you see people looking down their nose at the end of a cig with a lit lighter in their hand instead of the road.
  17. I keep seeing a pretty new toyota yaris near me in a really fantastic blue, pretty sure it's an OEM colour, not sure what colour it is tho (apart from blue)...
  18. That's what I'm gonna do... Although, whenever I wash my car, I always soapy sponge the engine bay and then jet wash from a distance, and always have the engine running, doesn't get the oily grime off tho, it is designed to get wet, ok it has a bonnet over it, but it's still designed to be ok a with reasonable wetness, just use common sense. I keep meaning to try some of that spay on foaming engine bay cleaner, looks pretty effective on viedoes on pootube...
  19. have to ask this mate, it's not frozen is it?
  20. some rear light 'ferrari' styles :) use fiat coupe lights.... http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=fiat+coupe+rear+light&hl=en&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&ei=VuDtTsmHG4OP8gPb_oGbCg&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=2&ved=0CDwQ_AUoAQ&biw=1280&bih=675
  21. Worn inner/outer ball joints......
  22. If it is still smoking, could it be burning oil off in the elbow/exhaust from your old kafuffled turbo?
  23. I've done it 4 or 5 times, both auto and manual, had the box out from the car and then back under each time, and I'm as skinny as a rake, but I AM hard, hahaha...... (nearly killed my self each time tho, but got the job done, grrrrrrr, well 'ard)
  24. haha, it actually might mate!
  25. Glad your Ok pal, I've had the same happen before, slip then grip. I've been in the Yaris today, might as well be driving on brake discs!
