  1. Hello & welcome. Nice S13, I do miss blasting around in mine!
  2. I evaluated the Chinese Z32 MAFs years ago on a modified 200SX. They were no good at all then. Voltage output when quickly opening the throttle was a long way off, made the car bog down due to overfuelling. Not every time though, which made them even more useless... I tested one on my Zed last year, and it was an accurate replica with regards to voltage output. Ran it for a few months. That particular one was from one of my suppliers of various items in the States. Sold it to another trader as a snide and it's been running fine on some Skyline somewhere. Unless you're able to properly evaluate the MAF you receive, you will have no idea if that particular one works correctly. I deal a fair bit with Chinese suppliers for various things. The trick is not to automatically go for the cheapest option you find, but put in weeks of research to find the Tier 1 sellers, or if you're really industrious, the factories themselves. 99% of sellers have absolutely no idea of what they're selling. They are based in a single apartment building and are simple drop-shippers, never holding the product or even seeing it, dealing in iphones, MAFs, computer chips, turbos etc. Forget about any warranty, you pay your money, you take your chance. Be wary on Ali as there is less protection than eBay. Always pay via Paypal. If you need to return something, you're better off fixing it yourself or binning it. Expect it not to work, and you'll be fine. Not something I would risk when it comes to important sensors or anything that keeps me on the black stuff!
  3. The gasket actually failed on the way back after the majority of the mapping had been completed :( I saw issues with Cometics many years ago in CA18DET engines. That's 3 Zeds I know of with failed Cometic HGs. I know of plenty more without issues, but it's too big a risk to take IMO. It's definitely a power-related issue, up to 500bhp they seem to be fine. Much more than that, and their design simply can't withstand the elevated cylinder pressures. That's my take on it, anyway :) Indeed, the stock headgaskets are perfectly good for high power levels.
  4. Brand new Genuine AEM 320lph fuel pumps available. Limited quantity, eta 10 days. Direct fitment. £90 delivered. Thanks.
  5. Car performed faultlessly. Very strong engine and great results for minimal modifications. 449lb·ft torque as well I think.
  6. Have the manifolds & downpipes ceramic coated. Less energy dissipation prior to the the turbine (aids spool), plus a hot gas travels more quickly than a cool gas (faster removal of exhaust gasses). Doubt you will find blankets small enough for stock fitment Zed turbos  Some people say ceramic coating the turbine housing or using a blanket can contribute to bearing failure. All above methods will reduce under-bonnet temps, which prolongs electrical connections and will help contribute to more power if the difference is enough to lower intake charge temps.
  7. Yeah... Me :wack: You need to have your board reprogrammed with the updated firmware. Let me know if you need me to do this for you.
  8. You'd need to either use a standalone ECU or a HKS VPC programmed for the Z32. The upside is removing the MAF from the system. The downside is cost and the additional components required. The blow-through method is as close in operation to a speed-density set up as possible with the stock ECU system.
  9. My current set up was simply to test the stock MAF in a blow-through configuration. The one I'm testing shortly will be suitable for ALL Zeds :)
  10. All a MAF does is measure air flow, there is no performance difference to be gained from one set up to the other. Same principle that applies to larger injectors flowing more fuel, they simply offer larger scope for measuring air flow. I expect that the MAF inserts are exactly the same as the one I have got ready for testing. Blow-through MAF setups have been in use for a few years already.
  11. Already running a blow-through MAF set up on mine with a standard MAF, without the need for a Selin. Upgrading to the new slot-style MAF in the next few days, once I find a realiable tig welder!
  12. Hello & welcome :)
  13. Hello & welcome :)
  14. Where will you fit the subs wth the rear-mounted rad in the way? I don't think you've thought this one through, captain.
  15. It doesn't matter if you're on boost or off, the injectors will be supplying 50% too much fuel. You run the risk of bore wash. Replied to your a message via FB :)
  16. I might be going if I can find time and the weather is good.
  17. EGT can tell you quite a lot about how the engine is running. I could be interested in them if you're looking to sell :)
  18. Not because of compressing them, but from a quality point of view. Reusing MHGs a couple of times is not normally a problem.
  19. Yeah, you can use the Cometic head gaskets. Whether or not you should, is a matter of debate...
  20. My educated guess is that they are EX.TEMP gauges :wack:
  21. I have provided running in maps for Power Zed built engines for a wide range of fuel injector sizes. In the case of two different cars, I had to go down to Bristol to get them up & running as the injectors were out of spec for what they were supposed to be. Same with Mark Derby's car, but that was for an ECU firmware issue. What injectors do you have?
  22. I've got all the gear for radio & immobilizer decoding, never had to do a Nissan 300ZX though. I'll look into it for you.
  23. That is likely what has caused your issues.
  24. When they give up, the engine runs lean and you melt a piston  They're reliable at mid 500s. Reached the limit of one running twin GT2871Rs. For the cost, 1hr fitting time and peace of mind through renewing a 25yr old item, it's a bit of a no-brainer IMO. Walbros are noisy, way too many fakes out there to be sure you're getting the genuine article.
  25. Thought as much since it's low across the board. Glazed bores, rings will never seal properly. What you can do is follow the instructions in post 4 regarding snapping the throttle shut. But if it's very rich every time on start up, it won't matter at all. I doubt it will do much, but it's the only thing you can try to improve things. Then: 1. Get it mapped properly. 2. Pull it all apart and start again. 3. Run it in properly using base boost levels. Why wasn't the boost controller switched off for running in?
