Who has the most powerful Zed on this Forum?
Hi Stu, I got this off the rides section but was probably not reading things right. Oh well, 1000 brake is possible and I get mine Zed on Saturday so I think I best go and buy a tent to live in and put my house on the market! Justin

Cheers Pete, I might well pop along on Saturday and meet a few of you. As long as my bloody car is available for me to pick it up from the docks by then! Justin

Who has the most powerful Zed on this Forum?
I was just wondering who has the most powerful beat on here. I have heard that 51X is running 1000 bhp, is this true? If so then I wonder what all that must have cost! More than my life is worth I would imagine! Justin :)

Good place to give my Zed a good service in the South East/South?
Thanks Paul, I think he may be my man to sort the cambelt out etc on my Zed and can't get too much more local. I will give him a call soon and see what he can do for me. PAUL C So you think all the fluids should be fine in my motor then? I really don't wanna take it a few miles down the road and start seeing the thing fall apart! Cheers, Justin:)

Good place to give my Zed a good service in the South East/South?
Raz, I think the Japanese specialist you might be talking about is Cooksley and Cobb. I had my MR2 tubs cambelt servive done there about 3 years ago. They were OK I guess without being anything amazing. Not really any cheaper than anyone else. Still hopefully we will find somewhere soon enough. Matt, I have certainly decided that I will do my own small services. Although like Raz I have to say am not that experienced in doing that much. Your help would be greatly appreciated at some point though I am sure. Very good of you to offer:) I really do think a cambelt service might be too much for me to take on though but maybe it is not as hard as I think it is? Cheers, Justin

Good place to give my Zed a good service in the South East/South?
Cheers for tha Raz, I will have to keep an eye out for you in the future. I think the company you are talking about is called SAS in Aldershot. Bloody expensive though. I asked them about doing some stuff on my MR2 turbo and they wanted £90 per hour to do it! Think the website is http://www.tuningjapanese.co.uk Cheers, Justin

Good place to give my Zed a good service in the South East/South?
Hi, My Zed is due to be collected from docks at Southampton after laying stagment for the past 4 months due to shipping delays back in Japan etc. I have been told by someone that it would be really bad to drive the car too much after all this time. Somthing about the coolant going stale etc. Therefore I am in need of a decent place to take my new pride and joy to for a bloody good service. I will may also need a cambelt done depending on what the service history (if I have any) says. Anyone know a decent place in the South East or surrounding areas. I live in Camberley in Surrey so somewhere near there would be great:) Cheers, Justin

Oil Change Question
In my MR2 I always used Shell Ultra Helix fully synthetic. I know someone who works in the service department at Ferrari and he told me thats what they put in Ferrari's. I would imagine if that oil is good enough for the prancing horse then it should suit the Zed very nicely:) Justin

DIY Oil Change?
Thanks again for all your replies:) I better get down to Halfords and get some axle stands etc! Next I will be wanting to know how to do the cambelt! LOL Justin
-
DIY Oil Change?
Thanks Vijay, So its easy basically then. I don't think I will be paying the local garage over a ton to do things like that any more then:D Justin
-
DIY Oil Change?
Thanks guys, Sounds easy enough. I guess it would be possible to do the whole small service myself. Apart from changing the oil, what else would need to be changed and topped up etc? Justin

DIY Oil Change?
Hi, I would just like to know how easy it is to change the oil in the Zed. I am fed up of paying through the nose for oil changes from my local garage and it would surely save a load of cash if I was to do it myself. Is the filter in a tricky place baring in mind I would have to be under the car on my back as I only have axle stands? Cheers, Justin

What should you do when you think you've just written off your Z?
Sorry to hear about that mate, I'm sure the insurance will do there stuff. At least you did not go into anyone else so the insurance won't have to foot any personal injury claim. Should help next years premium a bit. I reckon the price would be way to silly to even contemplate going it alone. Who knows what you might find when the car goes up on the ramp. I would doubt if it is written off though. As for the farmer....... What an insensitive *******!!! Hedges do grow back. It probably needed a good cutting back anyway. He should be paying you for the trim! Hope you get things sorted out to your satisfaction mate:) Justin

Dilemma!
The best place to read up about MR2 turbos is here: http://www.mr2dc.com/ If you click on the weblinks you will find owners personal websites. They have all the information you could possibly need about MR2's. I seem to remember your budget being about £5000 so I would suggest probably looking at a good Rev 1 or 2 tbar. You will have a job to find a decent Rev 3 for that sort of money unless you are willing to buy one without a tbar. Plus rev3 tbar are very rare. I know all this will be a hard decision for you, both Zed and MR2 tubs arte fine cars, having said that, anything in the performance Japanese line is! As for the insurance, the company is called Houghtons. They are on the web. http://www.houghtoninsurance.co.uk Hope this helps. Justin

NZR Mr2 Turbo help needed
Is your car a Rev 3? If so the it could not be the airflow meter as the Rev 3 models had a map sensor instead. Justin

Dilemma!
I know you are leaning towards a Zed at the moment which is a good choice, I can't wait to get mine! Anyway, to answer your MR2 Rev 1,2 and 3 question. They were basically just improveemenst through the years (revolutions). They started life with 220 ish bhp, slightly twitchy handling and the oblong rear lights and by the time the Rev 3 came along they had almot 250bhp, much improved handling due to the engine being moved a little forward over the rear axle, the rounder rear lights and a bit more colour coding on the bodywork. I do think though if money really is no object then the Zed would be a little more of an impressive choice, just make sure its a good'n though. As for insurance being more expensive for imports? Don't believe the hype, I'm 27, 4 years NCB, 1990 ZX TT import, 3000 mile classic policy and I have been quoted under £200 flly comp! Beat that UK guys! (and yes I have checked it over 3 times!LOL):D I have also heard from a couple of ppl that there is gonna be a new law bought in very soon to stop owners of imported cars paying more than those owning official UK cars. Not although I have noticed any real difference in premiums anyway but does anyone know anything further about this? Cheers, Justin:)

Dilemma!
Mike, I agree very much so, although my MR2 turbo was a Rev 1 but had sorted suspension and the bigger 15 inch rims on it so handled pretty sweet. The Rev 3 is definetly the one to go for though if one was to choose one of these. Just try to find one with a T-bar for sensible money. Justin.
-
Dilemma!
If you are talking about 0-60 times then they certainly are. Infact the later Rev 3 models with the revised rear lights are probably a bit quicker. I do however think that thge nearer they got to 100 mph then the Zed would have the upper hand due to the superior grunt form the 3 litre lump. I am not trying to start a Zed versus MR2 tubs thing here though. I think they are both fine cars, but as I was saying earlier, if you are a younger driver then due to insurance etc, the MR2 is probably a better choice. Cheers, Justin

Dilemma!
Hi Mate, I would personally look at a decent MR2 turbo for the moment. I had one up to about a month ago. I now am awaiting the arrival of my Zed from Japan. The MR2 tubs are as fast as a Zed, cheaper to insure and although they love a drink, will not kill your bank balance like a Zeds thirst will, and at 21 you will need all the dollar you can find for insurance anyway! They are about as relaiable as cars this quick get also. And lets not forget, it looks like a baby Ferrari! I better add this now as I don't wanna be bombarded by ppl claiming I am saying the MR2 is a better car, I certainly am not, but I think you must all agree it would be a better option than a Zed if you are under 25. I found for myself that the Zed was a the obvious car to progress up to from the MR2, especially seeing you can pick a good'un up for half the price of a Supra. I just can't wait to get behind the wheel for the fisrt time and experience what all you lot on here say about the joy of driving a Zed:D Good luck in your car hunting and I am sure which ever of these cars you choose you will have a blast in them. Justin:)

Loophole in insuring a car with NOS???
Yeah, it does sound very dodgy, maybe to dodgy to even be worth it. Think I will stick to conventional modding!
