  1. I have only had my Zed for a few days and it all seems to run lovely apart from a suspect wheel bearing. I thought I should have a look at the buyers guide on this site (link below) and according to it I have compession problems:( http://www.300zx.co.uk/tech/BuyingZ.htm On the buying guide it mentions that if the needle on the boost guage is not on the far right of the guage on idle then I have problems with the compression. The needle on my guage is in about the same position as the bad guage in the buyers guide. Mine for some reason is only showing -7 and +7 psi whilst the one in the guide is showing 14. Is this because mine is an import? Can anyone help? Thanks, Justin
  2. Thats great Jeff, I will get someone to stick it on a ramp and have a look for me. Cheers, Justin
  3. I have done a search on this and what I have found seems to be very vague. I really don't want my new pride and joy rusting with all this salt on the road so I really need to know if they are undersealed or not. My mum bought an FTO once and was told that it was as automatic a thing to do with imports as sticking a fog light on. Does anyone know for certain? Thanks, Justin:)
  4. Thanks Mark, I will be out hunting for fast sweeping corners today then! :D
  5. I do have really fat tyres on mine they are 245/40/18 on the front and 275/35/18 on the rears. They are Dunlop sports. Maybe this could be the problem then. My tracking is also out at the front very slightly. Could this be a cause? If so to get it put right will I have to track all 4 wheels? Cheers Justin
  6. LOL :D :D Cheers for the reply scoops but I don't really notice it when I pull away, it seems to be worst at normal cruising speeds. It does seem to be coming from behind though. Justin
  7. Hi, I finaly picked up my first ever Zed on Saturday and I love it. It goes like poo off a shovel! I have one thing annoying me though and that is this wurring (if that is how you spell it!) sound. It is not very apparent when going slow or when you really put your foot down but for normal driving it is getting on my nerves. My mate who was with me reckons it is worn wheel bearings. Could it be anything else? Justin
  8. Thanks mate but luckily I had the standard shocks as well with the car so they were put on. Still not sure about uprated front and standard rears combo though. If I do lower it and it has not already been done on the car will I need to adjust the toe-in and camber? Justin
  9. Looks like I might have to keep with the Z centre then. I don't wanna blow my whole mod budget on a spoiler!
  10. That SE spoiler is well nice, kind of looks like a slightly larger FTO spoiler. Any idea on how much they cost, anyone? Justin
  11. Thanks Mark, I will take a look in a minute, I am up for anything if it saves me money! Justin
  12. Hi, I am in need of some of your opinions on which style of rear spoiler I should put on my car. The two I like the most are the high level one and the low level one being sold at the Z centre. http://www.zcentre.co.uk/spoilers/spoilers.shtml I do like the high level but can't decide if it is too over the top! Pun not intended! I am told though that the low level spoiler hides the blue lights on the Rozzer mobiles. Surely that is potentialy risky! Anyway, what do you guys think, low or high level? Cheers, Justin :p
  13. Good work Mark, I have just been ringing round a few places to find a decent quote for a full service and cambelt change for my fisrt Zed which I am picking up from Southampton tomorrow. Good to see someone who know's his stuff in the South East :D Justin
  14. If I do lower my car a bit will I not also need to get the toe-in and camber sorted otherwise I will get bad tyre wear? Justin
  15. Scoops, where did you gte the AGX KYB's and if you don't mind me asking how much did they set you back? Also what springs are you running with them? I would imagine they sort the handling out quite nicely? Justin
  16. Yeah, that guide would be well handy to get a good view of the aftermath once the spoiler is removed. Justin
  17. Would there not still be bad marks on the paintwork though where the spoiler was even if the holes are filled in? Justin
  18. Hi, I went down to Southampton to have a peek at my Zed just before I pick it up on Saturday and found that I am gonna need a new rear spoiler as the standard one is all cracked as I know they are prone to do with age. I have looked at the spoliers on the Zcentre website and have decidedf to go for one of those Supra style ones. What I would like to know is what else is needed apart from the spolier. I know I will need the perspex cover along the back but do I also need the tailgate skin to cover the mess along the top of the bootlid? Also any idea how much the total project usually costs including fitting and spraying Thanks, Justin
  19. Hi Jon, Glad you have had Trust shocks, I was starting to think that mine were wrongly labelled as I can't find Trust shocks advertised anywhere. Are your Trust ones coilovers? I don't suppose you kept the good rear shock by any chance did ya! ;) Justin
  20. Right, after a bit of thought on this matter I have decided to bite the bullet and fit some new coilovers all round. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to go for. I really don't want to pay silly money for them. A link to some decent sites that sell them would be appreciated. Also, is there a FAQ on fitting these to Zeds? Cheers, Justin
  21. Hi, I am in need of some advice from some of you more technically minded lot please. I am due to pick my car up from the docks in Southampton on Saturday all being well. The car went through the MOT in the end but had one problem with one of the rear shocks. It seems that the shock is leaking oil because of the seal and perhaps the shaft being worn. They are apparently made by a company called Trust which I believe means that they are very expensive. Does anyone know if it is possible to get it fixed and where? I really need to get this sorted as the guys in Southampton have fitted 2 of the original standard units (that the last owner in Japan was good enough to sell with the car) on the rear. Therefore it has passed the MOT okay. I am really not sure if this will be any good for the handling of my car at all having uprated suspension on the front and standard on the rear. I guess my only option if the faulty shock cannot be repaired is to buy a pair (or 1 if they sell em like that) of either the same Trust shocks already fitted on my car or another decent brand like Bilstein or Koni etc. I guess I could just put the standard shocks on all round but that would be a real shame seeing I have 3 perfectly good Trust ones:( Any ideas out there as to what I can do? Cheers, Justin
  22. Cheers for the reply John, Would like to chat to you about socketing my ECU at some point soon if that is ok. Thanks, Justin
  23. I get ya, Thanks Paul, Don't think I will worry about them for the moment then. I need to gte other things sorted first I guess. Justin Justin
  24. Hi, I am thinking about getting some larger injectors but know nothing much about them. Does the different stages of tuning have anything to do with what size you go for. If I say just had a boost upgrade, zorst and induction would 720cc be pointless? Would 550cc make more sense? Also, how difficult are they to fit? Is it a garage job and in which case tehn how much are they likely to want to put them in for me? Cheers, Justin
