Speedo conversion question
Hi, I'm afraid its another speedo question! I have had my zed since January now and this issue has bothered me ever since. When I imported the car my agents took care of all the Uk conversions for me. All has been satisfactory apart from the odometer conversion. What they did was fit one of these electronic boxes so the speedo is all correctly calibrated to use the JDM dials. All they did was black out the "k" on the "kmh". The thing that bugs me is that the odometer is clocking up in miles now and not in kilometers. I mean it all looks a bit dodgy when I eventually come to sell it and I have to tell them that some of the odometer reading was run up in kilometers and the rest in miles! Is this just how everyones car is when the electronic box is used or has my car been sorted by cowboys? Justin

I have the same set up on mine on the rears and have 245's on the front. No problems atall with anything. I feel I could do with going even wider on the rears though! They are still spinning up in fourth gear in the wet! :D Justin

Headlight bulb code???
In need of someones expertise again. My headlight bulb has blown on my import Zed. I am going to have a go at converting it to take the UK bulbs. Can't believe the price of the Jap spec ones (£18 each! ) so feel it will be worth it. I just need to know what the bulb code is in Halfords. I looked in the little booklet and it said it was 448. the thing is its only a single prong bulb and I though the ones I needed were 2 prong. Its also only 55 watt. Seems a bit low to me. Any ideas? Cheers, Justin

aircon gas
Jay, If his car is more than 10 years old then this might help. I had to regas my aircon before I sold my MR2 last year. I went to two aircon specialists. the first one told me I would have to fork out about £300 because I needed to convert the system to run the new tree hugging gas (can't remember the exact name for it. R21?) I then tried the second place and tghey told me that a new gas had just been released that enables it to be used with an old R12 setup. cost be £50 all in:) Just thought I better tell you about this incase a dodgy aircon place tries to con him with all this conversion crap. For the sake of £50 he might as well get someone to do it for him! Hope this helps, Justin

Anyone ordered from Z1?
Hi Mac, I got my KYB shocks and a prop centre bearing from them. Very good prices and service, e.g. bet nobody can beat $75 for a prop bearing! Justin

what mpg???
- what mpg???
I am trying to work out my MPG but to make things easier can someone please tell me how many litres the Zed fuel tank as I can't remember how many litres I usually out in when I fill her up from empty? Justin- interesting idea!!
LOL!!! What a plonker!- Radar detectors
Jon, As with pretty much all detectors it sits around the window area. It shouldn't matter anyway as they are not illegal anymore. Only jammers are likely to annoy the plod. If you really don't want one on top of your dash then the Blue eye is the way to go. You can mount it anywhere as it has a small antenna that you can hide away to pick up the GPS. It won't pick up mobile sites though. Justin- Radar detectors
If you want the ultimate detector then you will want to get yourself a Snooper S4 Neo. I got one a couple of months back and its awsome. Like the Road Angel it is a GPS unit, but where it is superior is that it also has a built in 360 degree laser detector so you are safe guarded from all the mobile sites aswell. The only think it wont pick up is radar but seeing the only things that uses radar nowadays is traffic signal cameras then you don't really need to worry about that. Pop down to Halfords and take a look at it. It's a must have in a car like a Zed! Justin- Fairlady Badge
I've got one of these on my car, had it about 2 months. I got mine from Chris@GetGreddy. Think it cost me about £35. Give him a shout and see if he has any in stock, think he is back from his holls now. Justin- Got me prop-shaft bush
Wow! your shipping was cheap. I had to pay $160 for mine. I did get a full set of KYB shocks aswell though. Good luck with the bearing mate. Justin- Got me prop-shaft bush
Hi mate, I did this the other day with a little (or rather alot really) of help from someone on here. It was not a bad job to do. You do have room to work on it with teh car on axle stands. You have to drop the zorst down a bit first. You have to watch the bolts though. Mine were stuck solid so ended up snapping them off and drilling the remainder out. That was a frustrating setback. I am sure there is a FAQ on doing this somewhere. It is easy enough to do. Just gotta be patient with some of the things. Removing the heatshild can be a right pain! You will probably need to have access to a vice as well to remove the old and fit the new bearing. Also a decent Puller is a great help. Where abouts did you get your bearing from? I got mine from Z1 motorsport in the US. It cost me $75.00. Thought that was very good. It is official Nissan too! Justin- What front shocks?
I got my KYB's from Z1 motorsport in the States (http://www.300zx.com) They cost me $375 for the 4. Shipping was $160 and I paid £80 duty. It would be a bit less for you though as I got a prop bearing at the same time. Justin- Good Insurance Deal ??
John, I have noticed in a few other posts that Houghtons do seem to prefer insuring people south of the border, would be interesting to know why though. Justin- Good Insurance Deal ??
Ibran, I'm 27. I pay £230 fully comp with a 3000 mile limit. Mods declared and as a second car on a classic policy. Tel:01582 867763 Good luck, Justin- Good Insurance Deal ??
If you are not with them already then Houghtons will beat that. Do a search, lots of good stuff about them on here. Cheers, Justin - what mpg???
