  1. Thanks for the offer mate. I'm not a terrible distance away from midhurst. Nice pub there actually. Spread Eagle I think its called. Anyway, I am new to all this so would not say no to a hand when I get the bits and pieces. Justin
  2. Thanks for that John, I will contact you soon for a bot of help. Have a good week away:) Justin
  3. Thanks Andy, I will get in touch with John when my car appives in Southampton and see what he can do for me. Sounds like he knows what he is doing. Justin
  4. Thanks Nigel, I think I will leave the soldering to an expert. These "copy" chips, are they any good and do you know where I can get them from? I only know of two available so far, the JWT which I notice you have on your car and the SE which I have heard alot about. I think unless the copy chips are any good then I will probably go with the JWT. Cheers, Jusin
  5. Thanks Andy, that has cleared up a few things for me. I would still like to know howq much this whole chipping of the ECU will cost me including fitting. I know it depends on many factors but just a rough ball park figure. Will I actually gain any power from this or is it only done to enable a rise in boost with the fitment of some kind of boost controller? Many thanks, Justin
  6. It may well have had the cats ditched. I will see in about 7 weeks time when it arrives. Also, can someone have a whip around for Paul C's turbo's so he can continue experimenting for us!
  7. I guess I should try one of these dancing bananas
  8. Thanks for the advise then guys, I will probably get the air filter and chip done then consider the Cat bypass then. Cheers Justin
  9. Poor PaulC, he seems to be the Guinea Pig on here! Well I will wait and see what happens with his car anyway! Cheers Mike:)
  10. Hi again, I should think all you lot on here are getting fed up of me now! My car hasn't even been loaded on the boat in Japan and I'm posting questions like a mad thing! Anyway, I have noticed alot of you on here have said goodby to the cats on your car. What are the gains roughly? Is the best way to bypass it with a proper pipe or is smashing it through just as good? Will it cause me problems with emissions come MOT time? My car is a 1990 so I know it does not legally need a cat. It has, by the looks of things on the photo I have seen of my car that it has a huge single exit exhaust, probably and HKS Drager or somthing like that. Would that effect the disposal of the cat in anyway? Thanks for your replies in advance, Justin:)
  11. Thats wicked, cheers for all that Dave. I will have a little browse in a minute. See what the best deals are:) Justin
  12. Thanks Dave, I think TDI are expensive anyway. Do you know how much this chip I need is, also a link to a site I can buy one from? Justin:)
  13. Everyone seems to be talking about a chip that you solder into the ecu which anables you to up the boost with an electronic or manual controller. Does this seem about right? Thanks Justin
  14. Should all that be done before I do the chip then?
  15. Cheers Simmo. I think I might leave it to the experts. I take it that they won't charge much to fit it then? How much did you pay for yours and how much did it cost ya if you don't mind me asking? Justin
  16. Hi Dave, apparently so, but only if you wanna play about with the boost on your turbo's. I just wanna know how much they cost, gotta keep an eye on my spending when it comes to cars!
  17. I have done minor electrical things but nothing major. Used to solder things alot in the days when I used to be into Radio Controlled cars, hardly the same I know but its something!
  18. Hi, Does anyone have any recommendations for the best place to get an overboost chip for my ZX, so afr the cheapest I can find one is £95.00 plus VAT from Torque developments. Will it be possibe for me to fit this myself? Thanks, Justin
  19. Thanks for that, looks like I might save a few pennies then if I can have a crack myself :) Justin
  20. Hi Mike, Cheers for that:) I will mail you some pics in a minute. Thanks for your help. Are you doing this Apexi AVR-C group buy thing? Justin
  21. Ok, Starting to get these ZX's now. I sit easy enough to fit yourself? Justin
  22. Hi all, Have read on a previous thread about a group buy going on for these Apexi AVC-R's. Any info about the group buy would be most appreciated. Cheers Justin
  23. Cheers for that. I guess you are talking about a fuel cut defencer chip? I have a MR2 turbo and have a ZX on the way from Japan. Alot of Mr2 owners use a Unichip which takes care of upping the boost and sorting the feul cut etc. Is there anything like that available for the Zx and if so are they any good or should I just stay with the idea of an Electronic boost controller? Justin
  24. Is anyone able to tell me how much it is likely to cost to fit an electronic boost controller, I know it does differ from place to place? They all seem to cost similar amounts to buy but can anyone recommend one inparticular? I guess this is the best thing to do once an exhaust and filter have been sorted? Thanks, Justin :)
  25. Hi Steve, I live in Camberley. I still have to pay up for the car at the moment then it will go on the next boat across. Should be expecting my new baby around mid-November. Thanks Simmo for the tip-off. I will take a look on Ebay in a mo :) Justin
