What did you do to your zed today?
Just to clarify there, the first one is 2 wheel drive, the second one the Sapphire is 4 wheel drive, both are RS Cosworths, both are making huge money these days, not sure why but that is the market at the moment, both have the same DNA in their structure, always preferred the slightly less lairy looking sapphire so I could take the family out in it as well as the wife used it to go to work. Now a genuine three door RS500 now that is a whole different angle on the Cosworth spin, as is the Escort Cosworth, not that they did it for me to be honest. Jeff

Yes at the time having a Cosworth was so good, no internet in those days so shows were where you met all of the traders, the RS club was super fine for all of that. My engine >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> My sound system, all self built !! Jeff

Timing belt help
To be honest it is the wrong car for your finances, not the car is a nightmare, seen this time and time again, budget blown buying the car leaves little cash to maintain it. Had a good few very young University owners bring zeds to my workshop to find they had blown their entire government grant on buying the car !!! and then were using the credit the bank gives you as a new student to lower it, fit new wheels and bodykits, eventually turning up at the workshop with only pennies left to do engine or brake maintenance...... road to ruin. Headlights
No your talking about half power dim dip which some UK cars had, the op was talking about solenoid operated dimming utilising light sensors. Jeff
-
Headlights
Self dimming headlights, the 300zx are headlights are poor enough without dimming them, never seen or heard of that. Those are level actuators as fitted to some European models, not dimming. Jeff

Meters not working well
The odometer issue is caused by a low energy motor that drives it and the unit been too tight for smooth operation, the cluster needs removing and the odometer removing as a whole part, blow it clean with an air line if possible to remove all dust and lint, then with a very sparing amount of WD40 or similar sprayed on the cogs its should come back to life. The speedo problem itself can be caused by a faulty speedo sensor although that is less likely if it works ok sometimes, as said above the most likely is a poor solder joint, follow my link below I did some years back should help, remembering the solder joints may also effect the odometer at times. If you remove the cluster again you can either change over the odometer as one or its is simple to change the mileage on the UK one. Jeff

How to remove targa weatherstrips
I have done those many times by simply drilling a hole through the plastic and it reveals the screw head, once the trim has been swapped over fill the gap with some silicon sealant, saves dismantling the glass from the steel section. Jeff

Ok shown some of the pics from other meets in Armacao du Pera, but this one a little different... a brand new first a Nissan 300zx and a stunningly stock one albeit exhaust and coil overs, the finish and trim quality along with the paint for such a hot country was amazing, and yes was our very own forum member here João !! nice to meet you and chat about your zed, nice purchase buddy...enjoy the pics guys >> Jeff- Electric Drivers seat, Problem.
Glad your getting sorted. Jeff- Master and Slave clutch cylinder, HELP
Slave is ok, but the master cylinder is for a non turbo, thing yours is turbo? Jeff- Electric Drivers seat, Problem.
It may well pass a continuity check when using a low current pass meter, but the motor draws a good amount of power so that connection may not be good enough, anyhow if the motor works one way it will work the other way, have you tried connecting the power reversed yet? Jeff- Electric Drivers seat, Problem.
Ok seen this many times and always the switch is the fault, you can if you find a doner seat unplug all of the electrical harness and switch in one piece and swap them over. To get the seat out you need to power the seat forward in your case which is very easy. Unplug the seat power supply, get a battery charger or a spare battery and make a temporary connection to the seat ( easy if you have a spare plug from a breaker ) but ensure the new supply is reversed in live and earth the reverse way around. Now the seat will move forward when you do the switch backwards..... simples!! Raise the seat to its highest position at the back and front, this is needed to access the loom with the seat out.
