Having major issues in Portugal right now !!
Anyone ? Got plenty to post about but seems I have a leaky IP, don`t understand it ? I did a 60k service just weeks ago, replaced the circulation device and even a new cap, but the words keep disappearing? maybe a boost leak ? Jeff

Splitter over 5k rpm idle up and down
Have you done a boost leak check yet? or and set the throttle balance, TPS position and timing, all basic start points, then get it on a ConZult and check the air flow meter readings and injector readings and look for any codes. Jeff

Not me? you just did ! I said and quote "NGK PFR6b-11c, are the correct ones for European zeds " I then said "Need the 11c for the UK etc. " the etc. refers to the original poster as I had said European and he is in the Netherlands, which is close enough eh? The fuel in Japan has different ratings freely available 100 ron etc, the plugs fitted to non turbo in Japan with Jap spec ecu map end 11 with no C. If the cars are to be used outside of Japan and not the US then the C ones are correct........... wow need lie down now ! Jeff

NGK PFR6b-11c, are the correct ones for European zeds, the US guys always say the 11b are better but it is more to do with the petrol grading they use. Jeff

anyone eating popcorn tonight ?
Yes I would jump in but in this particular case feel it would detract from the point been made, my view is only based on a personal fb rant against me, his customers however have much more important tales to tell. Ah don`t worry buddy, now do you have any tech question I can help you with? Jeff

Gawd Dam Petrol Tank Straps
To remove the straps, you first undo the rear bolts near to the back bumper, then bend the strap down to get the front fixings. Be aware when doing them back up, getting the bolts in at the rear by the back bumper can be a bit of a challenge as the straps will be a bit out of shape. Jeff

Yes my response was a tad long but it was intended to explain your misunderstanding of how I look at some of the zx engine tuning methods, nothing more, nothing personal. Of course over the time the zed and the vg engine has been around tuning methods for the engine have evolved, but I must make a point about the "Generic" chip term and expand upon it > Genetic adjective general, common, collective, non-specific, inclusive, all-inclusive, all-encompassing, broad, comprehensive, blanket, umbrella, sweeping, universal, cross-disciplinary, interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary The chip that was written in the early Nineties was taken from the base of a standard 300zx map by John Wolf Technology in the US. the base map was genuine Nissan, the adjustments to the ignition, the fuelling, the variable valve timing, the rev limit, the speed limit were all written specifically for the vg engine. Generic is really a misnomer, it refers to a "non-specific", "broad" and "common" description, the JWT chip is non of them, and anyone who knows about the mapping and chips available over the past 20 years in the UK will know the JWT map has been copied over and over, even Superchips UK did their own version, making very, very slight changes to appear different, that said it remains the most popular inexpensive way to get real noticeable gains without clearing your bank account out. So given that the map is available still today and many, many zeds are running well and safe and have been for at least the last 20 years kind of negates your comment " a generic chip that only puts down about 30-40 extra hp and is probably wrong for your engine and fuel in the first place" There has been some notable players in the mapping scene that came out with the magic numbers in recent years, originally derided for the claims, 450bhp + 500 bhp + in the main from just a live remap. But in time the claims were looked at with interest and a good few zeds were remapped by the new comers, time however has not been kind to the mappers or the engines they worked on, and it must be mentioned that it has not gone unnoticed that the newcomers came and went, gone ! gone with the cash and left the black smoking vg engines that were created behind, some no longer usable. Anyhow, its up to you guys what you do, just my opinion, one that was formed over the many years working exclusively on zeds, and the fall out that big idea`s and battered wallets can cause, oh and buying a car that's more powerful from the factory is great fun, repeatable performance, no "what is that noise" to worry about and still exclusive enough to feel your car is special, is that not what we all want ? Turbo's Goosed
No not really, do not have a problem with it per-se , just seen so many zeds in particular having big money spent to chase the big power dream, only for owners to be disappointed and often out of pocket big time, often said expectations and idea`s come from billy bull shit down the pub or from the internet. Of course there is many who have taken a sensible route and ended up with modest and usable increases in power and general performance for very little outlay, its the 500 bhp + builds that are less clear in practical use, drive-ability, and long term reliability, often at the expense of getting a high rolling road figure and print off, most of them have no direct correlation to using the car to go shopping at Asda of course. Many big builds take too long and use so much of the owners spare cash that once complete the urge has been lost and often the car is sold to pay off the credit card bill. Non of my thoughts are to be taken personally, its each individuals choice, but my business view was not to over sell a customers expectation back them in order to just illicit more of their cash, that was a problem some years back with a good few places. Hence other than mild chip and boost upgrade I did not go much further, maybe bigger injectors at a push, now at 25+ years even rebuild the engine design is lacking now, they were and are still great cars, but if you want 500 bhp, do what I did and buy one that came like it from factory, way more reliable and cost effective. Ah sorry bud, was not referring to you wanting bigger turbo`s, but generally non standard one`s are seen as an "upgrade" what ever that is? keep looking sure you will find what your looking for. Jeff

Seat belt light on
Is it the belt feels loose when been worn that is the issue along with the light ?
-
Seat belt light on
Some confusion here, so to clarify, modern seat belt pre-tensioners fit on the seat base, they have a small charge in a tube shape unit and form part of the belt latch, see the example picture below. In the event the forward sensor detects a crash the charge is activated, this pulls the seat belt tighter, it also opens a circuit, that circuit forms parts of the air bag system, if the one time only pre-tensioner has activated the airbag light will be activated not the seat belt light, its also means the unit cannot be used again. Nissan seat belt latch above, as you can see no tensioner charge unit fitted The 300zx does not have these type of seat belt pre-tensioner, the seat belt latch only activates a switch, this controls the seat belt light just as a reminder to not drive without having the belt on, seems likely the circuit or switch in the belt latch is faulty Note : The reel in the door or B frame does have a system to keep the belt tight, however it ofyen fails and the belt hangs loosely when not worn. Hope that helps Jeff
