grrr ebay seller
Bad luck, some ebayers set out to be bad some are just crap at it, looking through the guys feedback dannyzx from this forum bought something from him and had no issue? Slightly different but I had an issue with a seller before Xmas and started an ebay complaint which has only been sorted last week, now ebay keep sending me requests to fill in a survey to say how great they dealt with it?? 7 weeks and 20 + emails the answer is not very well. A new symptom reveals the cause?
Try running the engine with the maf disconnected, although it will not run above 2.5k revs it will run in a default mode, what this will do though is take away any issues with the maf and any complications caused by air/boost leaks. So use this as a test and see how the engine runs, if it runs markedly different it points to air / maf issues, if it makes little difference then it has at least eliminated the maf and air leaks as the issue, let is know how you get on. Hi matey you have a return pm. Jeff TT

Gah! Wipers, clock and pod dead
The problem you had was part of the aux 1 or key position one power supply, this can be the ignition switch or faulty fuse box but not in any way connected to the ecu, guess the problem has sorted itself for now, will most likely return, if it does when wet its the fuse box for sure. Jeff

fast idle
Did you test with it connected or disconnected? Jeff

Memories! haaaaa
Trust me Tony you would not want it back now, it was a very different car then, since your ownership it has been tracked and was in a major crash into the barrier and the the owner had a bodyshop recover and repair it. However they did not tell or notice that the sump had been holed in the crash by the subframe pushing back, which caused one of the steering rack fixing bolts to pop a hole through the pan. Unfortunately when the owner collected the car he drove home unaware the oil was making a very sharp exit out of the sump!! So engine soon went bang big time!! much worse was to come, when we removed the engine the chassis leg on one side was well hammered, the bodyshop repair was a cosmestic one only:no: So the engine was replaced, swapping various bits over and the owner sold it quick time, since then it has been through a few hands both in and out of the trade....sad end to a major zed. Front Calipers Ali v steel
The garage I assume are talking about the dust rubbers as they cannot see the piston seals unless they have removed the pistons from the calipers. The dust shield are easy to replace with out removing the calipers ( just the pads) and come part of a seal kit with new ring retainers. Personally I prefer the alloy calipers, the steel ones seem to suffer more from seizing, and the brake pedal always feel more wooden than the alloy ones, which is odd as you would expect it the other way around if anything. No Power after Cam Belt Change
Peronally do not like Dayco belts, the profile of the teeth does not match the sprockets well and are very undefined, also very cheap, last time I checked with a supplier they were £8 !! If I can be of help to your mechanic tell him to call me at the workshop no worries. Jeff Tel 01827 311190

No Power after Cam Belt Change
Could well be connected to the belt change, ask the garage if they checked the timing with a timing light after they changed the belt, reason why is that as the timing may have been set previously with an old (streched belt) and now is retarded, or they have made a mistake with the belt installation. This is more likely than you would thing, from my own experience I have seen many belts wrongly installed by all manor of garages and mobile mechanics, have no idea why its a very simple operation, also ask what make of belt was fitted. Maybe a coincidence that a bad connection on the temp sensor or ptu has some bearing on it too. Back to who changed the belt I think Jeff

16bit ecu`s cracked
Ok to those in the know the 16 bit ecu presents problems when an owner wants to chip his zed that has a later car with a 16 bit ecu, mostly retrofitting an earlier ecu is the easiest course. However here how it is done using a 16 bit unit, the first couple of pics show a standard 16 bit ecu before modification the last showns the modified unit with a sister board added in, by interfacing via the board edge connector the second board can use duel 28 pin eproms. Simples:wink:

After market springs warning
Ok we were was surprised to find a broken rear spring on a zed the other day but even more so that the springs are Eibachs, these are one of those names we all feel happy to trust, not sure if this was a failure due to manufacturer error or wear and tear, incidently the shock although old looking was perfectly servicable, Will be speaking to Eibach to see what they think, of course I have no idea how old they are or what mileage thay have done but really should not have broken.:( Jeff TT

Nissan dealer service
The crank and cam sprocket markings should line up every two full turns of the engine, the belt markings however will be about 10 thousand turns!!! no seriously I have no idea how many actual turns you would never want to turn the engine by hand that many times. When fitting a new belt both the belt, sprockets, and crank are all lined up, once turned you use the sprocket markings and crank as reference not the belt marking. Hope that makes sense, if not will post some pics to explain. Cheers Jeff TT

Nissan dealer service
Once you have done a basic static set up you will need a timing light to get it bang on. Jeff TT

Auto to manual coversion
Also keep the gearbox/alternator loom from the auto, so much less work than changing to the manual one, one single cable for the starter solenoid and two pairs of cables one is the original circuit for the gearbox interlock to prevent the engine starting when in drive, this will need to be linked out and the other pair is for the speed sensor, run a new pair from the box reverse switch to the connectors on the o/s inner wing, finally run another new pair from the gearbox neutral switch to the ecu in the passenger side footwell. Hello all, new member looking for Advice??
Hello Dan, Just for your information provided the only issue is the n/s turbo then its a relatively easy fix. If your on a budget the turbo can be replaced with a good tested used one and without the need to remove the engine its just a day and a bits work. One word of advice, the reason why the turbo failed needs establishing once it is removed otherwise there is a possibility the replacement one will go the same way, the most common issue is with the oil feed and this needs removing and cleaning thoroughly or replacing. It is possible to do the job on a diy basis, but unless you have good tools/ jack/ramp access and mechanical knowledge it could turn into a nightmare. However there is so much help available here you may well still fancy doing it, either way good luck. Jeff TT Zedworld
