Is this repairable?
Sure it can be fixed as the fingers are replacable on most covers cannot see why they would not be, depends on if a clutch company would want to do it rather than selling a new unit, if your interested I could ask our clutch manufacturer, I expect they would want to see it first though. Jeff TT

What appears to be blowing here?
Just had a thought, while the dpf goes through a regeneration it needs all heater plugs working correctly to help with the regen, so a faulty heater plug could stop it fully auto regenerating, check them first as it could be an easier and less costly fix. You may also want to check your ELOYS tank which is the addative used as part of the regen cycle, this can be refilled but care is needed to fully bleed the air out or it will not work. As Mikey said failure to deal with the problem will very likely cause turbo damage, once you have sorted the issue out make sure that at least once a month you take the car for a good exciting drive, its lumping around town that is causing early failure. What appears to be blowing here?
See the Euro 4 emmision regulation for lorries in London is to be extended to passenger carring vehicles in the new year, will effect coaches and mini buses etc. failure to comply means a £200 per day charge to drive through central London for a coach and £100 for a mini bus, remember this is on top of the congestion charge. You know the day is close that cars will be included in this so no Euro4 and means you cannot drive your own car in central London without paying a Kings ransom, my thought is what if you live in central London.......madness and most of this is due to regulation pressures from Brussel....argh!!!! Maybe time to invest in a company manufacturing exhaust particulate filters? Jeff

What appears to be blowing here?
The error code most likely referes to the particulate filter (takes the soot out) there is a set proceedure for regenerating this, however if its not been done correctly it may need replacing or you could remove it and attempt a manual clean. The soot in your pic could be caused by the extra back pressure and / or a faulty gasket. Particulate filters are going to be the next big thing to drive used diesel car prices down, the replacement cost on some of the prestige marques is going to write them off! Also a reason why some previous owners will sell them on without revealing the issue and pass the problem on to the new owner. Jeff TT

Heater temperature
Coolq Could be thermostat jammed open or water level too low. ConZult check would prove thermostat one way or the other. Jeff TT

front fogs
Yes an easy conversion, you will need the spots and side indicators from Jap spec, a small amount of cable connector mod is required thats all for the indicators and the fogs can be wired to the rear fog relay on the passenger side inner wing or a seperate switch if you wish. Jeff TT

MOT Failiure :(
Your best bet is to take it somewhere that work on zeds have used parts to fit, and do MOT`s, one stop fix. Jeff TT

turbo problem
Ok its very likely the mechanic is correct, this is a more common problem than you may think, however for technical reasons its usually the passenger side that seizes. As one turbo is now stopped, all of the boost from the working turbo is lost past the stalled turbo as it recirc`s through the connected intakes. An easy test is to remove the large pipes into the throttles one at a time, start the engine and place your hand over the metal pipe from the intercooler, rev the engine and you should feel air pressure /boost, trying both sides will tell you which one is at fault, the dump valves will not work as there is no captive boost. Time for turbo replacement Jeff

Oil pressure woes........
Can only be Fair-lady tea eh? Jeff

Swapping over.
The gearbox is the same between UK and Jap spec, the extra power and hold controls will work with either box, so best leave your ecu as is. Jeff Could fit the UK ecu but will loose the hold control function. Jeff

Oil pressure woes........
Your very welcome. Jeff Well defo has all of the Nissan markings on.....doubt it would be fake from where it came from, well hope not. Jeff Yes difficult one, especially when dealing with a supplier in another country, also the parts were bought a long time ago. Jeff

Oil pressure woes........
One of those times when doing a job just right was not enough well at least when relying on certain parts quality that should be unquestionable. So here we have a build using all new bearing, pistons, rebuilt heads, all new gaskets, brand new turbo`s, and full 60k service. oh and a manual conversion at the same time. All parts were supplied by the owner and a simply case of stripping down and rebuilding up, the engine was not damaged but the owner wanted to edge his bets a little. Following a text book fit up and the normal pre-start precautions ( priming turbo`s etc) the engine started and ran!!! but that initial "a job well done" feeling later evaporated away when the oil gauge reported a pressure issue! as a new sensor had been fitted we earthed the sensor cable and this confirmed the gauge was working fine........... so what next? Good oil pressure is essential of course and why when doing this build many new parts were fitted including the oil pump all replaced with brand new Nissan items from Z1 Motorsport (owner supplied) So with this in mind we were able to discount the new parts as the problem and so that left another area to suspect and the main one was some sort of blockage in the main gallery.....argh!!! Either way removing the engine and stripping down again brings its very own level of disapointment that can kills your enthusiasm there and then. So after another obligatory cup of tea to refresh the mind we came up with an in car test, a pain still but far less than a full strip down. The engine was supported from above and the subframe completely removed, then the sump was removed and now we could see what was happening. Sub frame removed Sump Removed Unfortunately this told us less than we had hoped, the pick up tube was clear, the pick up tube O ring was correct and new, the oil filter ( Nissan ) was fine and had been changed anyway early into the checking. So with heavy heart I knew we needed to remove the oil pump to check the gallery to the oil filter from the oil pump, so the front of the engine was stripped again! this then gives enough access to then remove the oil pump. Very quickly it was established that the gallery was clear as it should be and the pump registration onto the crank was fine..... time for another cup of tea! So here we have an old pump and the brand new item along side each other, Based on a hunch and a damm fine cup of tea we removed the new oil pump back plate and also removed the old pump back plate for comparison. The old pump was checked for tolerances between the pumping gears and between the outer gear and body..and was remarkably in good nick, in fact well within tolerance and actually re-usable if you wished too. The new pump was also checked and the gear to gear and gear to body tolerances were found to be ok, note I said ok not as new? however when the gear edge levels were checked they were found to be under spec by quite a margin too?? we removed the gears and found them to be undersized, not worn ( new remember) the fault had been found and was actually a manufacturing fault! So a replacement pump and rebuild back up and problem gone! I can say I have never seen this before and even spoke with Jimmer ( thanks matey) and its well unheard of to have a faulty oil pump from brand new. I would love to end this thread with a "and the moral of the story is "..... but I don`t know what it would be, except when dealing with engine faults don`t close your eyes to possible causes just because new parts have been fitted. Have fun. Jeff TT

Should this unplug?
If you unplug the fan multiplug you are also unplugging the sensor, this will cause a fault with the cabin climate control, best to identify the fan cable and snip just that one. Jeff TT

New MOT certificate...not
Exactly! Yes! Jeff

New MOT certificate...not
Sure you some of your MOT guys have already seen these but we saw the new MOT certificate last week and was very surprised by the low tech look of them, in fact not just low tech but low security also, no actual official water marked paper just normal pc paper and printed using a small ministry programme....! Exhaust popping on the overrun
On overrun with no accellerator all injectors stop so no fuel going in, I guess you mean overrun with a little throttle on, assuming no leaks either intake or exhaust you have some unburnt fuel getting into the exhaust somehow. Jeff TT
