  1. Speaking with DVLA is a good idea but be are of raising markers against your car, once informed of the shell swap they will act on it, you really dont want a Q reg if avoidable, a good way to ask is... "if I was going to do a shell change ....." nothing underhand of course, but in the first instance make it a general enquiry only. Jeff TT
  2. Brake fade can be caused by other parts of the system such as underperfoming rear brakes, and brake fluid properties can also change from repeated overheating. Jeff TT
  3. This is a DIY job but given the apparent dangers highlighted by Terry and the speed it can be done on a ramp ( 2 hours ) do yourself a favour and get it done on a ramp,a while you wait job under around £225 and the work is then warranted. Jeff TT
  4. Doh! I should not worry too much as the general consensus appears to be you will be ok after draining and refilling, if your stuck for getting the fuel out there is a guy just outside Kingsbury 10 mins from you who runs a mobile service for this very event, seen his van around a lot lately, might be worth a call at least. Jeff
  5. No engine fault or mil light will occur on your zed as it the more basic OBC 1 and as such has no ability to report back a real time fault except in the error memory. If the det sensor code is an active code and not just an old one that is no longer active then not only will boost be limited but the ignition timing will be retarded, this means no amount if tuning / rolling roads will have the engine running correctly, the det sensor fault could be cable, connections, or mixed up cable connectors between the det sensor and the variable timing solenoid. You need a full set up check and rectify before any more rolling road time, and a remap will not cure faults such as det sensor circuit issues or boost leaks, only once its set up correctly should you make any decision about more tuning work. Jeff TT
  6. There are many versions of front mount intercoolers and the one on trademe is a common one on the zed and seems to fit ok, the one on trademe pic is upside down, ironic really if you think about it. Jeff TT
  7. Well as far as taking your zed to a nissan dealer do not waste your time! Most likely will not have fully compatible diagnostic knowledge  anyway if it is air leak related it needs different checks. All well documented in the search system look for boost or air leak checks. jeff tt
  8. Perfect place here... or Jeff TT
  9. Have you checked the clutch pedal rod adjustment, if over adjusted it will be preloading the pressure plate. Jeff TT
  10. Yes no worries, and yes have a complete na we have not started breaking yet. Jeff
  11. Yes can do any combination. Jeff
  12. All you need to know is here.... Due to increased enquires, we are now making available the one piece propshafts we normally fit when undertaking manual conversions. So we can supply a newly fabricated single piece propshaft for both the TT and N/A auto or manual for £225 + vat this with your prop in part exchange. The new units are fully balanced and are super smooth in operation, no more centre bearing issues to worry about and at a cost similar if not less expensive than having a new bearing fitted. All of the work is done by our own fabricator so no waiting for delivery from the US and no import duty, and fully warranted. Jeff TT
  13. There are eight types, non directly interchangable as whole units, front and back sections can be moved around though. Auto twin Turbo 2+2 Manual twin turbo 2+2 Auto non turbo 2+2 Manual non turbo 2+2 Auto twin turbo 2+0 (swb) Manul twin turbo 2+0 (swb) Auto non turbo 2+0 (swb) Manual non turbo 2+0 (swb) More info here http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=140401&highlight=single+piece+prop The one piece propshaft advantages is reduced rotational weight, makes a real difference from the moment you pull away, so much smoother and no center bearing to worry about, and overall cheaper than a genuine Nissan bearing! Jeff TT
  14. Terry this engine you presently have, did you install it as is or did you use bits from the other engines in particular any of the cam sprockets? and what year engine was it? Jeff
  15. The water flow scematic show shows the matrix circuit a bit simplistically but correct in its ability to be shut off by the heater valve and have NO effect on a correctly running engine. Jeff TT
  16. The heater matrix been blocked will have no bearing on the overheating, the matrix is fed by a secondry water circuit, and in any case when the heater is switched to cold under normal circumstances it shuts the valve and this closes the circuit. If your worried about the heater been blocked making it harder to get the air out just loosen one of the heater pipes and run the engine at idle and when water comes out its bled. In fact the whole air bleed debate I have seen here and numerous times is not fact, remember we change cambelts regularly and whilst owners wait in the shop, bleeding the air out is never a problem, it is simply a case of filling as much as possible then running the engine ( heater on 40 if working) and adding coolant as required, after 10 mins or so switch it off and wait 5 mins, do this three times and its done, a run around the block and check the water level again, this is applicable to twin turbo`s as non turbo`s have a different rad design that aids bleeding to a point that you can practically fil lit up from cold. Jeff TT
  17. As I am sure you have become a dab hand at changing the thermostat and for a test of flow rate remove the stat completely, should not take long and although not a fix may render the car usable in the short term. Jeff
  18. Some more Oh and over £100 collected via the raffle to be donated to Great Ormand Street Childrens Hospital thanks for your generosity, the posters too and the nice comments for the kids to read at Christmas. Jeff
  19. What a wicked day yesterday and in a major parts made by you guys and gals because whatever we do it comes to nothing if nobody attends so a big thanks from all at Zedworld to you, and whilst on the back slapping subject I personally would like to thank my “team” the kids first Jamie and Danni for their sterling work ensuring tech question and sales were dealt with and the drinks and food were served to all., and of course Lynda who with her super culinary skills keeping the masses fed. Lynda for JAE 2012 catering eh? ( Vote now !) So some pics for those who were unable to attend, I started at the bottom end of the line of zeds and walked backwards taking a new shot and by the time I got to the end the I was in the next part of the industrial estate!! Oh and yes to many who asked a summer 2012 bash is a definate! Jeff TT
  20. Thanks all, and a Happy Birthday to your too Gary!! Jeff
  21. Tony you been drinking? is Jan coming with you Saturday? Jeff
  22. Agreed on them been interchangeable have seen no issues with swapping these around, the coil values are the same as they are the same part, nicely answered Yowser. Jeff TT
  23. Do they now? since when? having bought bumpers over the past few years I am suprised they now come painted as the available colours of zeds are from the old Nissan colours charts and would have thought they are not on the current Nissan colour scheme, remember some years back they stopped the the touch in paints for the 300zx colours. Jeff TT
  24. Exhaust fumes in the cabin that become worse when opening the window whilst driving is often due to leaking boot rubber seal. An easy way to check this is to trap a piece of paper in the boot rubber and see if it can be pulled out, try in several places to check the bottom and side edges. If it is easy to pull out anwhere along the lower section then try pulling the tailgate down with the lock adjustment. Jeff TT
  25. Very straight forward swap, simply unplug the old one and remove it ( 2 x 10mm fixings) and replace and connect the new one, no need to disconnect the battery or reset the engine ecu. Jeff TT
