96 Z Front Bumper and front indicator where to buy? Help..car wreck.pic attached
We have the same bumper in good used condition in stock, can be painted the correct colour before sending if you prefer and can ship to Spain no problem, email jeff@zedworld.co.uk me your shipping address and can get a cost for sending it. If you need for it to be brand new it would be worth considering the later 99 spec bumper as it is less expensive from Nissan than the earlier one. Jeff TT

Turbo timer & key lock problem.
There is a small solenoid fitted on the top of the barrel as a default this prevents the key been removed whilst the power is on, normally when you turn the key off the solenoid is deactivated and so allows the key to be removed. So when using a turbo timer it keeps the power onto the solenoid and hence the key will not come out, the fact you were previously able to pull it out with the turbo timer on suggests the solenoid was playing up ( jamming) and has now started working again, so best all round cure is to remove it. Remove the steering cowlings to access the key barrel, you will see the solenoid attached to the top of the barrel, it can be literally prised off and the cable connector disconneted and job done will not be a problem again. Thermostats
That does normally suggest an air lock. Agreed in 99% cases the thermostat fails open, air locks can be troublesome but not in anyway an unsolveable problem, loosing water then refilling then loosing water then refilling just keeps adding air as well trapped within the water. Jeff TT

power light
The flashes at start up have is not a fault reference but a warning to inform you that there is a stored code, the above method can be used to access these. Jeff TT

Cambelt heads up
Cambelt schedule change is or was from new 60k or 5 years, in the real world they do probably last longer, however when purchasing a new zed that has little or no history the sensible thing to do is to change it anyway and you then have a base to work from. Case in point last week, new owner and despite been advised by the previous owner it had been done and had little mileage on it he decided to get get it done anyway as there was no proof. When the front was stipped down the belt did look from a quick look in good order, but the belt pulleys told a different story, the imprinted material is a mix of belt fibre and general dirt pounded onto the surface of the pulleys by the rolling action of the belt. To be fair this is not too unusual but given the belt had been changed ( along with a water pump too ) suggests the imprinted material was from the previous belt and had not been cleaned off! as it was the pulley was toast anyway (noisey) so was changed along with a new belt, not a biggy I know but does show some lack of care by who ever changed the belt. Just because it is an area not seen once the covers are on there is no reason to not be as keen to clean it up when in there as anywhere else, in fact we always blow out the area with an air line and the amount of fine black dust that comes from in and benhind the top sprockets is surprising. targa drains........
All you need to know below: Electrical problems and water ingress go hand in hand on any car and no less the zed especially with targa roofs. Many owners have experience some level of water leak from the targa / door seals but in the vast majority of cases it is obvious as it shows up on the seats or your leg if your unlucky enough to be driving through big rain and it lets in. So when we saw a zed with some odd electrical issues and a very wet passenger carpet the taga was an obvious suspect. But when pulling the carpet back the area below the ecu was very dry. So with everything initially looking ok we checked out the targa drain points Now what your really want to see is a puddle of water appear on the floor just under the front sill area But what we got was very different, , a very wet set of relay and loom connectors We removed the A post trim and set about checking the drain tubing for any pin holes Pic.5,6,7, With no issues higher up we took more panels out and eventually found the culprit here, the final stage sill drain pipe disconnected Quite how this had come detached from the connector to the sill drain is a mystery, however athough a real neck and wrist breaker to get in the deed was done and tested, now all the targa drain water stays where its is supposed to OUTSIDE. Water leak into passenger footwell
Just to advise: the above is using a Genuine Nissan matrix unit which comes with new copper pipes, foam insulator and water valve, using non Nissan part is less expensive. Jeff TT

My speedo don't work
Check the connections screws are all in place, the 4 in the lower red circle are obvious but the top single screw can easily be missed. Jeff

hesitation, and backfire
So as I said no real time boost cut. afm derived cut is prone to variation that cannot be relied on and hence is relegated to a sub level determination, taking into account the standard high setting that was written into the stock map suggests the lack of trust in this method, absolute pressure sensing is the only true descriptive boost cut that works in real world situation with all the variables that can take place and do under the bonnet when on the road, most zed owners will never encounter this as a direct problem one of the many variables is the cause. Cheers Tony. Jeff

hesitation, and backfire
With no real time manifold boost level then no input exists for acitve boost cut, turn the boost up on a zed with a standard ecu and it will boost to destruction if you let it, no boost cut. seen the results of this in the past. Jeff

How much for a changing the brake fluid?
Should be around £55 + vat, make sure they bleed to ABS unit in the boot as well all four calipers. Jeff TT

Electric window failure
Remember no need to remove the door panel to get to the window relay unit, unclip the lower part of the trim and get your hand up half way in the middle and you will be able to pull it off the bracket, there is enough cable to pull it down lower than the panel edge to unplug, when fixed just pop it back in and all done.
