  1. Hi Mike! Thought you might like to se the new home the engine I bought from you has finally found - Since Jimmer and Darrell got their hands on it and wove their magic! There's still some final 'fettling' - as Jimmer puts it - before she makes her journey to the bodyshop....... That is one sweet engine you and your dad built mate - Sounds absolutely fabulous - I'm pleased as punch that i was able to get my hands on it! :) In the first clip, the car is running without the exhaut (as you may guess!) The second, with the exhaust fitted....... And the last one is her first movements under her own power for the first time in 2 years! I could have cried!! :D And that wasn't because of the whine from the gearbox - Hopefully just a result of over 3 1/2 years of inactivity.......
  2. Okay mate - I'll investigate this! In my best Hercule Poirot way!! There's nothing left in the box of bits I had - I'll check again to make sure they didn't end up hiding in my boot somewhere (I did have a good look when I brought them back to be honest!). When I see Jimmer next (I've just heard he's on the ferry, so it won't be today), I'll double check there as well. Sorry about that - my mistake - I thought all oil line bits were present. We'll get something sorted between us if you need to get any new bits, mate :)
  3. Yeah - That sounds familiar, mate, now you mention it! Paul might be coming down to the Red Cow near Berrow for curry night, later, if you're interested? Should be there about 8 or so - 5 quid a head, so can't really argue wth that! Rich'll be there too - And our mate Justin who's sadly got a modded mx5; so there'll be plenty of ammunition for pi$$ taking!! Sorry to divert your thread, Jimmy! :)
  4. I will do, if I get a chance, mate! I'm hoping that the manifolds are actually on the car - I'm pretty sure that Paul said he'd put them on after they arrived, but I'm a little worried after Dave said they hadn't been fitted the last he knew! Mind you, it might be that long ago the last time I saw you, Dave, that you may not have been around since they turned up?!!
  5. Ahhh....I was going to ask you what mine were, when I saw Jimmy's thread about manifolds the other day! I've never actually seen mine up close - They had a bit of rust on them last time I got even near, and I never actually asked anyone! Well, that's good to know Dave - At least I have got a set of decent ones!! Glad they arrived Jimmy - I checked earlier on the web and it did say they'd gone out for delivery at 8 this morning, so I thought the chances were good! Excellent service there from DHL. Looking forward to seeing and hearing about your build mate - Great stuff!
  6. In the research I did, the general consensus was that the recircs were the best option all the way up to about 600bhp, mate, and that they only really needed uprating after about this level! That equates to plenty of money you can chuck at the car first, methinks!! HTH, Simon
  7. You'll need 4mm, 6mm and 8mm mate. Personally I'd order from DTA or SFS Performance If I were you. Paul@SWZ was showing me what happens with some of the Ebay vac hose - Discolours and goes almost clear! Looks really cheap and tacky mate, unless you can find a reputable manufacturer on there!
  8. Looks like it's all coming together nicely, John! I bet you can't wait for that first key turn!!
  9. No probs, mate! Glad it works, and glad it's helped sort your problem - It must feel like a new car!! I had a look at the state of your intercooler when I was down Pauls earlier - I can certainly see why you were getting a leak!
  10. The boost leak detector did the job then, mate? :) Excellent stuff! You've got to be happy the gals running right now.......!
  11. Really sorry to hear this mate. I was over with Jimmer earlier and he showed me the picture of the damage and I was in shock myself - Such a shame that something like this has happened to such a lovely looking and well looked after car. I really hope the gal can be saved - You must be gutted, but it really sounds like one of those stupid, like you say, things that was completely out of your control, and you can never make allowances for. Fingers crossed that she will rise again! Simon
  12. Sounds good to me, Dave! Nice part of the country down thata' way! And a damned fine drive from up here normally :) I'm hoping to have my car finished sometime next month, so will be swapping the suspension when I get it back and will then be up for some inaugural runs; and Swanage way sounds like a good little outing to me!!
  13. Where in Dorset are you mate? Me and my mate quite often find ourselves going for a zx trip that way - We can always do a mini gathering sometime - Or even a zx one!! :) Simon
  14. Welcome to the club, mate! I expect the silver streak is happy going from one Stu(ew) to another!
  15. Ouch! That's got to be paaiinful - Get well soon, mate!
  16. Happy Birthday mate! You can have a nice red swb from me ;) Have a great day!
  17. I've seen that one a few times myself in the Southdown area of Bath - Has a set nice set of aftermarket 5 spokes on it. I don't think it's anyone on here, as I'm sure I posted up about it before and didn't get any replies! Unless he just doesn't look in the Was It You section, naturally!
  18. I've not changed one of these on the zed before, but I have changed similar ball joints, and I have to say I would always plan for the worst case scenario, Lisa! It's definitely going to be a tight push fit in and out, so, personally, I'd take the whole lower arm off and get it to a garage and get the old one pressed out and the new pushed in - Trust me when I say these things can really bite you on the arse if you don't have the equipment to handle the worst case scenario!! It could cost you a lot more time and be a lot more hassle in the long run. Personally I've promised myself I'm going o invest in a nice 20ton Ebay press at some point int the future - At £130, it shouldn't take too many ball joint, bushing or bearing changes to make up its' cost. Especially when you're running 3 cars like myself!! ;) Simon
  19. Well, I know a driver factor is involved, but Rich was able to get his U.K. spec car - completely standard apart from Stillen arb's - around Castle Combe in under 1min 27. Now, that's not bad - Especially when I was timing modified Evo's at only slightly better than that! They can't handle too badly then, methinks!!
  20. I'm no comic book geek (I swear!) but that's where the predator/alien link began - Sometime after Predator was released in 1987, the comic bookers decided that a bit of predator v alien would be interesting - hence the appearance of the alien skull at the end of p2 - it was a nod to this, and no doubt an attempt to start the ball moving for some alien v predator action on celluloid!
  21. HAPPY BIRTHDAY matey!!
  22. Make sure my stuff is nicely hidden away mate! ;)
  23. Happy Birthday, mate!
