Top Gear in Bath?
Nice one, mate! I may well be loitering around town (sadly, I may be working - Although the loitering is nothing to do with my work!) on Sunday, so I'll keep my eyes open - I only ever see a couple of other 300's around town on an occasional basis! Enjoy your trip down ;)

Top Gear in Bath?
Just driving into Bath this morning, and coming out was a silver Mercedes saloon with Top Gear on the number plate. 100 metres further on, in a field next to a recycling centre, there was a Gazelle parked. Then, in the centre of Bath I saw what I'm about 95% sure was Clarkson driving a black 59 plate SLK AMG! I know he had one of these a few years ago, but anyone know if he's bought a newer one? Reckon there'll be a bit of action around Bath for the Christmas episode! ;)

my zed rebuild
Ahhh........Thanks for the heads up, mate! Yep - It's a 4.3 Mercruiser LX - The carb version, in a Sealine 195 (sports cruiser). I'll send you a pm, as Lee's thread is getting a little diverted ;)

my zed rebuild
I'll never forget the zed - She's my baby! ;) Fancied a boat for years, but the zed sucked up the funds - I'll ge some pics up at some point - She's a beaut (At least I reckon!) I can't wait to hit that sea - Especially when the summer comes around again (one day!) I feel I have acheived something by finding vehicle thirstier than the 300 - With a 4.3 litre engine and the equivalent to 3-4mpg!! That's the reason I won't be going to the zed bash - It's going to be expensive for me until about March. I'm definitely planning on JAE next year, though - When d'you think you'll have the car ready? I'm really looking forward to the completed project!

my zed rebuild
I'm good thanks, mate! Bought myself a boat a couple of montha ago, so have neglected the poor zed (well, not taken the old girl out!) since then whilst I'm getting it ready for the mooring. I thought those coilovers were looking much more than just cleaned - Excellent job! I bet you can't wait to get her finished (although it helps that the crappy winter weather is here, now!) and onto that tarmac for her maiden run..........

my zed rebuild
Hey - I recognise those coilovers! ;) Good to see it still coming along nicely, mate! Looks a top-notch job you're doing there - Good to see our cars getting some TLC.........

9/10/11 Standerwick, Somerset 1pm.
Apologies for not making it, folks - I had some problems working on the boat, and still have plenty to do, but I'm hopeful I'll actually be able to make the next one - For once! Glad a good time was had by all :)

anyone fancy meeting this weekend at cheddar gorge ?
Sorry mate! I was so busy working on the boat, I clean forgot to give you a shout - It was about 8 by the time I'd got cleaned up last night! It's a Sealine 195 sports cruiser (4.3l ;)) - I had to re-do a fibreglass patch and antifoul it. Still got to service the stern drive and replace the bellows and hydraulic lines, which should be a bit of fun............Will have it moored in Uphill by the end of the month - I'll give you a shout! I hear you're into the boats, as well, still...............

anyone fancy meeting this weekend at cheddar gorge ?
I may be up for this, mate ;) Bizarrely, I was supposed to be in Croyde coasteering this weekend, but am now working on the boat! If I get everything I need to get done, I'll give you a bell and see what's happenin'!

Speedo repair
Cheers guys - I'll certainly have another bash (not too hard though!) at removing/replacing the needle and see if I can get it working. Will let you know the results ;)
-
Speedo repair
Just thinking - I have my old set of jap clocks - Perhaps I can swap the needle unit parts over? I'll have to strip 'em (and risk ruining my jap needle - Think I'll just go for the 'gentle tugging' approach :)) and see if they're the same part no.........
-
Speedo repair
Cheers for that Vodkashots - Much obliged to you - Some excellent research there! Vodkashots/Rich I think the problem has come from when I read an online guide recommending alternately turning the needle fully clockwise/counterclockwise and gently pulling to remove - It seemed to shift the 'finishing point' of the needle on each turn. I removed it fine without pulling the spline out, and only placed it back on carefully - Perhaps a little too carefully (I'll have a look!) I'm thinking that the turning fully one way then the other has damaged something?

Speedo repair
Anyone know of someone/somewhere which will repair the speedo on the 300zx? I seem to have b@llsed mine up by removing the needle - Oops! Gave Speedy Cables a call, but they weren't sure without looking at it and quoted £80-£120 plus vat and delivery anyway.........

these coilovers any good
Save up and get a set of Meister R's mate ;) I've messed around with suspension enough to know not to bother taking a chance on anything that isn't tried and tested - Could end up costing you a lot more in the long run............ I can't recommend the Meister R's highly enough - Ask around the forum(s!) - Plenty of 300 boys have bought them. I'm sure you'll find most are very happy. They'd definitely be my first stop for aftermarket suspension on any car............. HTH :)

300zx vert twin turbo nurburgring lap
Was that a result of the 'ring causing you trouble?!! just been replacing the handbrake on mine - Got a new fan blade, an overhaul of the electric windows and tweaking of the passenger central locking and then she'll be ready to hit tarmac again! Still got that warm-up issue, but runs beautifully when warmed-up.......

300zx vert twin turbo nurburgring lap
Excellent video mate! Not seen you for ages - How's it going? Is the vert running sweet now?
-
my new truck
That's one fine looking truck, mate! Interior does look sweet too - Are you gonna get some picks up of all the goodies in the back? Or is that where Clarkson recommends you store all those bodies?!!

Tax advice
Probably should add you'll get a refund as long as they haven't c@cked up your PAYE code! ;)
-
Tax advice
Yes, mate - You can claim your accommodation, subsistence and travel costs (45p per mile since April 6th of this year, 40p previously, would probably be the best way for you) incurred for the time when you are working away. As long as there is no compensation from your employer for any of these. Keep receipts and fill in a tax return (you'll need your P60 details to complete the employment section) and you'll get a small refund. You can also claim any entertainment costs as long as these are essential for your work.............
