Stretching tyres
I'd say they affect the handling - not to mention that they look a bit crap too......:whistling: Just my opinion of course - I thought the stretched tyre look was part of the European VW scene; and even then just for shows and not proper road use.... Richard:confused1:

green shield stamp books
LOL - those were the days!! I can just about remember them from the 1970s....... ......and to think a food mixer was worth almost as much as a Longines watch in those days......:winkiss: Richard :chef:

Opinions: '89 or smooth rear on SWB?
I'm with Baz on that one..... ......but as much as I like the 89-spec, the smooth look does actually suit the SWB (the LWB just doesn't look right without the spoiler) so to save you the hassle and cost, I voted leave it be! Richard:cool2:

anybody no this zed ??
Welcome back Paul..... .......I would not bother with that car either. There are nicer examples out there for not much more money than the estimated repair costs to that one at the moment.... Richard:winkiss:

Jimmy Carr
LOL - true; his head is a bit too big for his body! A bit like a puppet of some kind..... ....I have a couple of his DVDs too - Julia bought me the last one for Christmas and the whole thing had me in tears as I watched it!!! Richard:cool3:

Jimmy Carr
LOL - true mate but I can live with that when he deals with hecklers by saying "........if you want my come-back you'll have to wipe it off your mum's teeth first......" Brilliant!!! Richard:wink:

Jimmy Carr
Jimmy Carr was performing in Aylesbury last night and my friend managed to get us tickets..... ......and he was, as ever, incredibly funny!! It's the third time I've seen him live now and he still brings out fresh material each performance. I'm still in pain from laughing so much - he's definitely one of the best current comedians out there at the moment. Go see him if you can, you won't be disappointed!! Unless you're easily offended or have no sense of humour that is.......:whistling: Richard:winkiss:

Selling Advice wanted.
Hi Dave, I am shocked that you are thinking of selling a fine example..... .....but if you must then as a subbed member you have nothing to lose by advertising it on here as it's free! You're right about the general help/advice/banter thing but there are always newbies who come on looking for a ZX; plus the odd ZX owner is somtimes looking to move on to another ZX..... As for more coverage, forget Fleabay as their buyers only want something for nothing. I'd also whack it on Pistonheads or Auto Trader (not necessarily in that order) and see how it goes. Making it "perfect" depends on the price you're looking for. If you're asking top money (and I'm comparing it to what one sees for sale at the mo) like £6-7k+ then yes, refurb that wheel. Otherwise leave it - considering the age of the car, one or two parking "rubs" are acceptable. Thirdly - no. Advertise the car as it is; any potential buyer might well change a few cosmetic items to suit their own tastes so let them do that at their own expense once they've bought it. It will cost you far more to change things for someone else than you would recoup from the sale (plus they might pull out of buying at the last minute), so don't waste your time and money! Finally, if you have ZX bits that you never got round to fitting, then you have 2 options: 1 - offer to include them with the sale at an extra cost 2 - advertise them for sale on here separately Good luck in whatever you decide mate - and what "retractable roofed" car are you looking at.....? purple petrol eater
LOL - there's always one..... .....and I should have read on before posting myself, as I didn't realize you were a lady before referring to you as "mate"..... (although I never use that term in actual speech)....:blushing: But back to your car though and that is a mighty fine example you have there. One of the finest I reckon....... Richard:cool2:

That's what I'd do as well - if the dealer has a reasonable reputation to protect then for the sum of money in question, it's probably less hassle for him to take the car back and refund your money. You have certainly gotten through a few cars this year Jane; and law of averages/probability etc suggests one would turn out bad. Live and learn I guess - that's what teaches us to be wiser next time. Still with all this experience, maybe you should take up car trading to see you through college....... Good luck, Richard:cool2:
