  1. Hi Jeff, I too am so sorry to hear this - especially after all the conversations we have had this year regarding your future plans. I really feel for you and Lynda as I know you had done so much to set yourselves up out in Portugal; and to lose £000s on a deposit based on firm commitments from the buyers, not to mention your legal fees regarding the sale etc, is just unacceptable in my eyes. Did you have any clauses in the sale agreement for recovery of costs in the event of it being aborted? My thoughts are with you both my friend - and we must have that chat we promised each other a couple of weeks ago.... I wish you both the best of luck in whatever direction things go; and someone has to say it - so it might as well be me - at least the 300zx community can benefit from Jeff Turner's expertise for a little while longer:flowers: Richard:clover:
  2. Congratulations mate!! Richard:thumbup:
  3. A lot of work has gone into that - but like most so-called replicas, it just looks like a kit-car and a cheap knock off of the real thing that would not fool anyone!! These things have to be done properly to be convincing - and thus better than the donor car on which they are built - take a look back at Daz's MR2-Ferrari build; and you'll know what I mean:bow: Richard:chef:
  4. Sad to see - but at least some of it has helped to keep finer examples on the road.... .....And as Steve says, once those cars that are only good for fodder have gone, the good ones will hopefully be worth more.... He says, not holding breath for too long.... Richard:sad:
  5. Oooh, messy!! I'd go with WD40 or methylated spirits - neither will harm the paint and, as Mikey says, give the area a polish afterwards. I'd use Autoglym SRP, followed by a coat of wax.... Richard:cool:
  6. Happy birthday mate!! Richard:happybday:
  7. Many happy returns Mikey - have a great day mate!! Richard:happybday:
  8. Hi Dan, You could really go for wider rear wheels mate - either 9 or 9.5 would be fine; some folk even go wider!! But to answer your question - based on the sizes you have, I'd go with 235/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear.... You might just get away with 265/35/18 on the rear; but I'm not so sure on only 8.5 wide.... Richard:cool:
  9. Nice one Mikey - I heard how valued your pit-lane contribution was and would be only too pleased to see you back there helping out in future mate!!! Richard:thumbup:
  10. Thing is mate, had I hit the child, that would have been said no matter what car I had been driving. Sadly these days, the motorist is always the target; and any pedestrian witnesses are sooo quick to denounce the motorist as speeding... Despite the fact that most people on the pavement have no idea how fast a car is really travelling when it passes them...:nono:
  11. A great idea mate - and as Gary says, we must try and promote more motorsport events as a club in future...
  12. Nice work Steve - the VS is a tasty exhaust indeed; and certainly looks/sounds good on Si's car!! Richard:thumbup:
  13. Well done fellas - good to see you had a great time out there; and you did the 300zx proud.....!!! Richard:bow:
  14. There is a control box for the aerial; just inside the inner right hand rear wing - behind the boot trim. It is a white-ish box about the same size as a cigarette packet!
  15. I seem to remember that to check the operation of the electric fan, you should disconnect the ECU temperature sender wire, from the sensor itself on the front metal coolant hose.... .....The fan should them come on! As said in a previous thread, the fan stops the a/c gas from overheating and building up excessive pressure. I had this happen and the pressure popped the seal on the a/c compressor; leaving me needing a new one plus a re-gas.... Richard:sorcerer:
  16. Hahahahahaha..... Richard:rofl:
  17. Looking good Allan......
  18. It does that mate - it's one of those situations that, fortunately, seldom occurs; and if I had been driving Julia's Rav I wonder if I'd have managed to stop in time - not to mention how much worse an injury I'd have inflicted on the child in a 4x4... And the kid must have been young as he was pretty small in comparison to the height of the ZX bonnet - too young to be out on his own IMO, I saw no adult with him once he got to the pavement. He just ran from the park on the right hand side, straight across the road to the corner shop on my left; without looking in the direction I was approaching from....:sweatdrop:
  19. Agreed - that one is much more my bag....
  20. Agreed...... .....Nice one Jason - you deserve it mate!! Richard:bow:
  21. Well done Chris - another one for the collection then!!! Richard:bow:
  22. Today, I took my ZX on a 200 mile jaunt - up to Baddesley Clinton in Warwickshire; then after visiting the house and gardens, around some of the rural parts of the county..... Then back down to London to meet up with one of Julia's friends for late afternoon tea; and then home..... Nice one Andy - I guess that most have come unstuck or been removed over the years when taking the doorcards off. Another great tip that I'm going to steal.... Richard:thumbup:
  23. Yup - Jim is dead right...... .....My electric fan stopped working last year and I left it as the car did not over-heat without it. Although it did run a little warmer when stuck in traffic for a long time - until after a few months my a/c stopped working. I took it to JeffTT and the result was that the a/c fluid had overheated and the increased pressure popped the rear seal on the compressor - causing all the gas to escape. So, as well as a new electric fan, it cost me a replacement compressor and an a/c re-gas.... Richard:sweatdrop:
  24. Yup - you heard it right..... Credit to Mikey Bean (although he won't be getting a prize or anything....) for a pretty good suggestion!! Cheers Mikey - and thanks to Lee for setting up the new section for everyone!! Richard:thumbup:
