  1. I agree it does look better without - it certainly updates the car a bit; especially with the roof-mount aerial like Si has fitted..... ......And as for the lack of wiper, most modern saloons and (high-end German) coupes don't have a rear wiper anyway! Just coat the rear window with Rain-Ex on a regular basis; or apply car wax to it, and the water will run off anyway!! Richard:cool:
  2. Many happy returns John!!! Richard:happybday:
  3. Cheers Tony - thank you for your support mate!! Richard:thumbup:
  4. This question has come up a few times - and is always of interest - but to save me typing the whole lot once again, I found my reply from back in 2008 and have revised it with the cars I have owned since then...... Way back in 1987 at the tender age of 17: 1976 Mk1 Cavalier 1.6GL saloon 1978 version of the above 1977 Mk1 Cavalier 1.9GLS sports hatch Then in 1988: 1979 Opel Manta Berlinetta - twin Webbers, Janspeed etc. Excellent car! 1984 Cavalier Mk2 1.8 SRi 1986 Cavalier Mk2 1.8 SRi Another year later: 1988 Astra 2.0 GTE 8v (fook knows how I afforded it at the time) 1988 Mk3 cavalier 2.0 CDi 1961 Rover 100 P4 (classic car - was my dad's, he gave it to me when he stopped driving) Then from the 1990s onwards: 1989 Mk3 Cavalier 2.0 CDi auto 1991 Mk3 Cav 2.0 CDi auto 1992 Ford Scorpio 2.0 saloon (crappiest car ever. 6 months old and back to Ford every week) 1992 Mk3 Cav 2.0 CDi manwell 1994 Toyota Carina E GTi 2.0 173 bhp. Fast, under-rated saloon car 1974 Jaguar XJ6 4.2 - kept it as a classic car for 5 years until it broke 1991 Toyota Supra Mk3 turbo auto 1992 Mk3 Supra turbo 3.0 targa GT (Import special edition - it was KITT!) 1991 300zx turbo auto UK spec (my first 300zx) 1999 Toyota Rav-4 2.0 GX 3-door 1999 Mercedes SLK 230 kompressor auto 2002 Toyota Rav-4 2.0 NRG 2006 Mercedes SLK 350 auto with paddle shift Then since 2008...... 1994 300zx twin turbo auto UK spec (my current blue ZX; owned since August 2009 - and probably the best of my lot!!) 2006 Toyota Rav-4 2.0 XTR 3 door (Bought in August 2010 - Julia mainly uses it; quite fun!) 2009 Mercedes SLK 350 tip auto with AMG Sport upgrade package (current daily driver for last 3 years - superb car; I love it!!) Richard:)
  5. Ditto - I had a great childhood just like that too. No pressures, no league tables and no obligation to conform with whatever....... Just the fun of being a kid - which is something I think is sorely lacking in the lives of today's children!! Mind how you go... Richard:wheelchair:
  6. Yup - but they always remind me of "Santa's Little Helper" in The Simpsons..... Richard:thumbup:
  7. I agree.... .....for a 2+2 it has to be the original 89-spec of the latest 99-spec. Either is good, but neither is bad IMO... Richard:cool:
  8. Why not - but again I'd go for 18s on the front and 19s on the rear..... .....Although 17s are not so bad if you get the choice of wheel correct. I had 17 inch Azev A wheels on my old red ZX and they did not actually look too out of place - they would suit 17s on the front and 18s on the rear.... Richard:cool:
  9. Hi Jeff, Yup - it was good to catch up yesterday - thanks for the chat mate!! Richard:cool:
  10. Well, more like yesterday, as today has not long since begun..... .....But I polished my new driver's side targa panel (cheers Baz, it's spot on matey:thumbup:) and fitted it; which was very taxing... I then installed some nice new Hertz rear speakers to replace the tired JBLs I previously had in there (which are up for grabs for peanuts if anyone wants to replace their factory 6x4s); and I also treated the leather with some conditioner. Which made it smell very nice and leathery.... And as it was sunny, I went for a little drive....!! Richard:)
  11. LOL - so true..... .....Not to mention that as children, we were not chubby little lardsters either - whilst we may have liked our sweets and occasional junk food, we were fit and healthy. Because we had real friends - and played outside from dawn until dusk; working off the energy. Not sitting on our fat arses at the PC or playstation.. Thank you for sharing that!!! Richard:bow:
  12. ......So do I...... .......But I'd prefer the "few good Zeds" though....
  13. Good luck with your new project Neil.... Richard:clover:
  14. Many happy returns Nick - have a great day mate!! Richard:happybday:
  15. LOL - although not as it would seem....
  16. Yup - another well deserved thanks indeed.... Jeff is the 300zx guru; make no mistake!!! Richard:thumbup:
  17. Ditto - I was just about to type exactly the same thing!!! Fantastic to watch...... Richard:bow:
  18. Well, for starters the thread is (almost) a year old..... ......And, whilst I would imagine, many 21 year olds today (male and female) might actually speak or write (or - shudder - text) in an American vernacular; I suspect this article was not written by a "21 year old female" but more like a journalist, desperate for some exposure. Be it in the press or online... Nonetheless as a UK tax payer, even though I fully acknowledge there are those genuine cases that need the support of the state, I still agree with what she/he/they have implied!! Sorry to offend those who might not agree; but the silent majority in this country have taken it up the proverbial catflap from the left leaning "so-called social reformers" for too long now and things have to change, if the country is going to get back on its feet. Richard:mad2:
  19. That's the spirit my friend... And we really must have that chat we promised ourselves Jeff... Be in touch soon!! Richard:clover:
  20. Seems like sound advice there...... .....Hopefully that's all you need to do. Good luck mate... Richard:clover:
  21. I know Andy... And I wasn't moaning about it BTW, hell it was my stupid fault for using a motorway service station, but the light was on and the needle was just below the empty line!! And I cannot be bothered to put a little fuel in, then have to fill up again so soon:biggrin: I was just putting it into perspective that 02pmal paying £1.37 was not so bad...
  22. LOL - that's not bad for super.... .....I filled the ZX at Warwick services on the M40 last Sunday - there was no regular u/l at the pumps I pulled up next to; so I had to use BP Ultimate...... at £1.57 per litre!!! It cost £100.98 to fill the car.....:1eye:
  23. Good luck in your quest to buy your old car back mate. And if you can't, then here's a nice tidy UK spec car I found whilst browsing the 'net.... http://www.kgfclassiccars.co.uk/details.php?cid=248 Richard:flowers:
  24. Hello and welcome to the club!! Richard:thumbup:
  25. Many happy returns mate! Richard:happybday:
