  1. A belated happy birthday for Friday Lee - hope you had a great day mate!! Richard:happybday:
  2. Enjoy Paul.... ....And as Gaz says, don't forget to share a few pictures:thumbup:
  3. Thanks for your support Paul - I have upgraded your membership pending receipt of your payment.... I'm sure it will be fine mate:wink:
  4. ....And how many cars suffer premature turbo failure because the owners don't let their cars idle for a couple of minutes after a spirited drive...? I was talking to the service manager at my MB dealership when my car was last in. He was saying that he's seen MB replace a few failed turbos on the new A45amg for that very reason - in fact he believed it was down to the damn "start-stop" technology on today's "green" cars. Drivers are blasting up and down motorways - but as soon as they hit traffic and stop, the engine immediately shuts down, so no chance of that two minute idle idle! Naturally the engine start stop is not applicable to our cars - but the idle period is! For how long (before our careful ownership) did previous owners just switch off immediately after a high speed run?
  5. Me too. I went for 4300k, "normal" wattage (whatever that is); and mounted the ballasts under the nose panel, either side of the induction kit. They have been on the car for 7 years and are still going strong.... No issues with MOT either! Richard:cool:
  6. Ditto - subtle and nicely enhanced.....
  7. Damn - thought we'd got rid of him.....:rofl: Ahem, seriously though - welcome back to the fold Lee....:biggrin:
  8. Welcome to the club - and as echoed above, congratulations on your purchase, thus saving another Zed from the boneyard! As for turbo seals - they don't leak so easily, unless they are approaching the end of their economic life... Richard
  9. Hi all, We have a new joint REO in the London and SE region to work with Terry in organising meets and events! (adl) Phoenix - Ashley - has very kindly stepped up to the plate!! On behalf of the committee, please give Ashley a warm forum welcome - following Coventry 2016, I just know that he'll make a great contribution to the club. Good luck in your new role Ash!! Richard On behalf of the committee
  10. Yes........ ....Yes - I'm up to 105k miles on mine and (touching wood) have no issues...... ...And yes! Poor maintenance, lack of oil changes and J-spec cooling might have contributed to 'box failures. However these cars came with (old) Nissan reliability built in - and such serious failures are usually attributable to wear and tear from galactic mileages (which will affect any car in time), or the aforementioned neglect. Don't just condemn the 'box without exploring all other factors Ali - you might save yourself a lot of work, not to mention £££s. Richard:clover:
  11. Yup - and we all need days like that, once in a while.....
  12. Looks like a great show - and another good turnout....! They do indeed.....
  13. Hello and welcome to the club! Richard:cool:
  14. Hi and welcome to the club mate! Richard:cool:
  15. LOL - but let's get it on our stand at the NEC this year....... Hell, we could always show a true barn-find, to compare with the usual pristine examples we have exhibited the last couple of years.....
  16. Yup - it was Nissan's recommendation after all (including for the twin turbo)...... ....And yup, again.....
  17. I hope you get this sorted Chris - and I'm sure Garry will come good for you either way mate.... :clover: What would I do? Well, like you, part of me would want to just get the car registered and enjoy it; as I would plan to keep it for many years to come. So selling it on, might not be in my sights for some time. However circumstances change - and fate can also intervene. What if the car was written off; would your insurance company pay out anything near what you paid, if there was an issue with the VIN? Head vs heart, I'd probably play it safe and look for a refund. But before making any decision, see what DVLA say when you register the car. If there's no problem, and you do decide to keep the car, be sure to retain all correspondence, documents, paperwork etc. One day, you might rely on it, to prove the car's legitimacy to a future buyer or insurance assessor! Fingers crossed for you mate. Richard
  18. Very nice - sounding good Paul.... And yes - excellent news Ali.... Great to know you're mobile once more mate! Richard:cool:
  19. Perfect - thanks Lee, Gary and Andrew.... I did the driver's side one relatively easily enough - but the car is a little too close to the wall in my garage to comfortably reach the left side. I'll do that one another day:wink: And Russ, I nearly tried your suggestion at one point, when my temper almost got the better of me....
  20. Hi folks, I'm just about to change my windscreen trims for the nice ones I bought from Andy recently.... .....So before I blindly go tearing off the old ones, is there a procedure I should follow - in order that I don't damage fittings etc...? Thanks! Richard:cool:
  21. What a shame someone painted an apparently nice UK spec Zed in "highlighter-pen-yellow!".....:nono: I have, however, always liked that pearl yellow J-spec car. Wasn't it also owned by Sideshowbob?
  22. Not on the public roads I hope Gaz..... That would be just irresponsible - I mean which one of us would have done that....
  23. Many happy returns Richie - have a great day mate!! Richard:happybday:
  24. Many happy returns mate..... Richard:happybday:
