Im sure my choice of oil and filter wont go down well with many of you but it works for me.

10-40 semi is more than good enough for a non turbo engine.. I burn a bit on track days so need to top up regularly.

It will be changed again after 3000 miles so in my view its all good.

Cue an oil debate..........

Im prepared for a long list of reasons why Im wrong:biggrin:

10w 40 semi synth all ok in my book. Changing at 3000k its hardly started to break down so happy days. No grief from me pete

I too use 10-40w semi, use Mobil or another brand of that type, what ever is on offer. The filters I buy OEM, they're on the shelf pretty cheap in the grand scheme and I buy a few at a time. The horror stories put me off the cheapies, as I say there not expensive. I've basically got all the consumables sat there at any given time. Change it each spring.

Costs a bit more than £15 probably about £30 odd quod each change as you get like one and a half changes out the bottle. Unless it's one of those stupid 4L cans that's around more these days

Out of interest whilst talking oil Pete, I've always wondered if the full flow of oil picked up by the oil pump gets put through the filter or does some of it bypass?

looks fine to me Pete:yes:

Yup - it was Nissan's recommendation after all (including for the twin turbo)......

At least you have a service schedule, I'm sure many don't!

....And yup, again.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I think it only bypasses thru the relief valve if the filter gets blocked??

Thats how it works on the L6 240/260/280Z engines anyway.

Im sure someone who knows more than me will let you know..

I believe your right, in the case of twin turbo models though the oil cooler also bypasses the filter. Oh and if your oil tree o ring hasn't been changed this century a bit will be seeping by but we're talking gnats piss.
