  1. The Halfords ones dont fit very good at all. I bought the one with the hinged front from Luke at ZCentre, about £23 or £24 if I remember, he also had one without the front for about £12 or £13 . They are Nissan, and fit perfect. John
  2. Is it possible to see from underneath the condition and whether the centre bearing needs replacement ? Can you get to it to give a close inspection and determination ? I replaced the transmission rear mount, but still have the vibration 30-50 mph. Thanks John
  3. How much oil does your zed's burn ? What is considered average for a good conditioned engine ? John
  4. Yes, you could lighten them up a bit I guess, I calculate their weight at about 50lbs each. But I will only be dragging them about 25 ft out of the garage. (garage too small to fit the car in, and anyway, driveway between houses too narrow. Why do they build these "garages" so small, they are not garages, just toolsheds. John
  5. I plan to make them out of something like engineering board, its like shavings of wood compacted together, unlike chipboard (which would probably do, as its a solid structure) Get 2 4ft x 8ft sheets, have B & Q cut them (stacked one on top of the other - to save money for the cuts) into 12" wide strips running in the 4ft direction. You now end up with 16 strips of 3/4" x 12" wide x 4ft long. (will fit in the back of the 2+2 zed) Glue and screw them together, as in the attached drawing.
  6. A pit would be great, (it would also trap some of the local ankle biters too!) Yes, when you slide standard car ramps up to the front of the zed they touch the bumper and are still a mile away from the front wheel. John
  7. Yes, they are the pukka Nissan ones, I imagine they have the steel sleeves to press in to the rod. (I have not got them in the post yet) The manual does say something about lining up with the mark. I will let you know once I get them fitted. John
  8. Anyone got the part number for a 1992 300zx import fuel pump ? Thanks John
  9. No, I was thinking of a simple wooden one you can build for about £40 worth of wood. John
  10. Thats right Stuart, Thats why you have to make your own with a very shallow angle - about 10 degrees. John
  11. Where can you buy a 2 ton set for £16 ? All the car ramps I have seen (£29) have too steep an angle and will not clear the 300zx's body ??? John
  12. Jeff, I got it from Mike at MJP, he stocks them. John
  13. Willie, I was planning to replace just one side of the bushes, as its only the drivers side that is starting to leak. As I am only replacing one side, I opted for the new Nissan bushing. I was unsure about replacing just one side with a poly bush, and yes, the sticky about poly bushes put me off. I had though of making wooden drifts on a wood lathe to replace the bushes. Thanks John
  14. Thanks Willie, I am putting back the Nissan bushes, so I may have to make up a wooden drift, I dont know if they can take the abuse when driving them in, I doubt it. I will be fitting it this weekend (after I build my wooden ramps) John
  15. This may be a long shot, but does anyone know the diameters of drifts that I should make up in advance in order to press out the old tension rod bushes. Thanks John
  16. Thanks both of you. Those look interesting Andy, looks strong enough. Cheers John
  17. Has anyone built a set of long low slope car ramps that work with a zed ? If so, do you have sketches with dimensions and material list. Thanks John
  18. On Ebay, (assuming USA site) do the American bulbs fit the jap imports ? Also, I see all this discussion about the dipped beam bulbs, what about the high beam bulbs ? Is it the same problem of 1 terminal versus 2 terminals ? Thanks John
  19. You may have the Blaster virus........ You can get the blaster removal file ( I think its called "fixblaster) free from http://www.symantec.com and it does not require that you have norton antivirus installed You then need the patch from microsoft site to fix your windows Regards John
  20. Yes, I did it a couple of months ago, sanded them down with smooth emery cloth, primed with spray PlastiKote primer and sprayed with PlastiKote. I did mine in black, looks good. Like all spraying out of a can, the finished article scratches easy, be carefull fitting John
  21. Pete, There are lots of good choices on tyres out there, you will get loads of different opinions. One thing no one can deny, the Goodyear F1 Eagle is a fantastic tyre. I needed tyres for the rear a month or so ago, so I shopped around. The big dealers on the internet quoted me as high as £350 for a pair of F1's. I found a small tyre place in Heanor, Derbyshire that got me a pair of F1's for £210, including fitting, balancing, valve etc. He even balanced the 2 fronts. The grip is excellent, wet or dry, and from what I have seen on the forum, tyre wear is pretty good. Regards John
  22. I think you should find everthing you need here: http://www.z32.org/html/windowmotor.shtml
  23. I ordered just the tension rod bush from Mike Feeney, Nissan would have you believe that you have to buy the whole thing but you dont. £35 plus vat. Are they easy to fit ? I imagine fitting is similar to that of the poly bushes. Thanks John
  24. Jezz, Who is Nismo ? where do I find them? Thanks John
  25. and.......are they easy to install John
