  1. http://www.metasystem.co.uk/ They are quite quick with replies to you, and where very helpful when I was enquiring about where to get one and what to get. But once I wanted to complain they kept handing me off. I sent 3 emails of complaint and I go no reply to them. Stuart
  2. META ARE SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT! I bought my car with a Meta immobiliser installed so I thougt I would get the alarm to go with it and make it a CAT1. Fine it opens the doors and locks it and I have only had 4 or 5 false alarms. However, my alarm did not go off on the 2 attempts at breaking into my car. I got in the boot and climbed into the back seats before the alarm went off. I was charged £220 for the alarm + £50 for the motor for the other door to lock costing £270 in total then I found I could have got a Taod 606I CAT 1 System which is a lot better than the META for less than what it cost me for the META CAT 2 Alarm. The boot sensor stopped working after 3 months, I dont know if my bonnet sensor has ever worked. The car is suppoesed to lock itsself after 5 mins and it doesnt. But to top it all off, META head office dont seem to give a shit about it. Stuart
  3. On is drive! LOL
  4. You use the red steering fluid stuff. Dont know what type but ask your local car shop they will know. The steering fluid is located near the HICAS electrics and pump, which is on the left hand side a green resovour near the suspention turret. Open the lid and you can see the fluid. There is a level measuring thing on the inside of the lid which never works, so just add some fluid into it and dont let the level rise too much. Stuart
  5. £200 - £250 Chris. I have looked everywhere and two big the local computer parts specialists (Scan and Dabs) have ran out. Stuart
  6. I thought rattling noise with the clutch out that goes when the clutch is in is the thrust bearing. £536 is not bad for a clutch change, however that is a stock clutch. My cost for a recent clutch change where. £377 for the clutch. (It is uprated though) £100+VAT for fitting. £70+VAT for skimming the flywheel. £576. However, looking at the costs now, its OK. I dont think the cost of skimming the flywheel would be incuded in that price. Ask them. I thing that price is a standard price for a Z clutch change. I have invoices for its last clutch change which cost around teh £550 mark. Stuart
  7. Easy. yes Cheap NO The sender unit from Nissan is £80. Most people go for an aftermarket oil pressure gauge when the stock on plays up. I have one the gauge and senderunit cost £36, and if the senderunit packs in its £7 for a new one. Better than £80. Glad you are enjoying your car though. Stuart
  8. YES! Do you know anywhere where I man be able to buy a DVD writer? Scan and Dabs dont have any. :( Stuart
  9. HICAS is on all Twin Turbos and hence all UK cars cos all UK Z's are Twin Turbo, 2+2. The cats can be removed, mine where done today:D, which done make very nice difference, but you run the risk of causing the oil seals to leak due to the increased back pressure. Some change the turbos with the engine in the car from underneath and some take the engine out. It takes about the same amount of time to do either way. Some dont like taking the engine out of an old car because of the wiring loam is frail after 10 years under a hot bonnet. Any more questions? Stuart
  10. You seem to be spending a little too much attention on that Supra Ajay. You turning on us? ;)
  11. £536 for what? Just to change the bearing or the clutch? I got a clutch change for £100 + VAT which included changing the thrust bearing.
  12. http://www.300zx.co.uk/rides/srrae/wheels.jpg Print out of my tracking, and it has the values the wheels should be between. Inside balding I think is toe out. Stuart
  13. Had them gutted. Take them off and open them up and take them out and seem wheld it back. Not the thing with the long drill bit
  14. Its the biggest waste of time. There is no difference in the car, its not deeper and the turbos dont spool up. Waste of money........... NOT! Pulled out of the garage doing 20 or so in 2nd, thought I would have a go and floor it and I didnt accelerate too much becuase of the wheel spin I was doing. You can see by the rev needle that the engine is breathing better, not only does it go up quicker when you rev it but it also falls quicker. You can tell be the exhaust gas that its breathing better. Put you hand by the pipes while it's idleing and it feels like a gale blowing when before if just felt like little puffs of air. If this is what the car is like with gutted cats, make you wonder what its like when you chip it and have the boost turned up .:D I reccomend anyone who is thinking of doing it to get it done. I got mine done at C&S Woods in Astley between Manchester and Wigan. Cost me less than £60 to get them gutted. They also washed my car too. It needed it. :D Stuart
  15. You have to dress like Biggles to keep warm. LOL :D That's one problem with the Series 1 Z. The AC it crap for keeping warm cos you cant direct the blowers. Even when you have it on Auto the heat goes on the windscreen and on the passengers feet, some times. The Series 2 you can select where to get the heat. But it doesnt look as good. Stuart
  16. Very nice and clean. Dont think it will be clean when you get home though. ;)
  17. I have a dual boot and I wanted the Win2000 boot just programming so I can keep it all seperate. I installed on 2000 and it didnt work so I went to XP and installed it and it works fine
  18. Aki, I got my clutch changed for £100 + VAT = £117. The mechanic owns a Z and know what he is doing. They also washed my car after too :D Stuart
  19. That aint right. I had my clutch changed a few weeks ago and you couldnt tell that it had been done besides it not slipping anymore. You should get in touch with them and see what they say. Give them a chance to correct the problem and if not get intouch with the trading standards
  20. De Cat is to get rid of the catalytic converters in the down pipes of the exhaust. Benafits, Engine has a quicker responce, Turbos spool up quicker, Exhaust louder, Some say better MPG. Bad things, Turbo seals MAY not last as long Exhaust may be too loud for some
  21. I am using Kawa IDE to program Java, but its been so long since I used it last I have forgotten how to configure it. You have to set the bin and lib directories to the JDK directories but I can not remember where the JDK source path is. Can any one help or am I over peoples head here ;) Stuart

There are no reasons why you cant up the profile. But dont mix profiles on oposite axels, ie. dont have 225/50/16 on the front drivers and 225/60/16 on the front passenger's wheel
  23. Z you will get about 18 town and 25 to 28 on the motor way. The 28 is driving round the 60mph mark all the time. They dont need rebulds after 80,000 miles. I have done 157,000+miles and not had a rebuild. There is no performance difference between the UK and Jap Z's. Imports are more expensive to insure than UK, ones but get one over 10 years old and you can get it on classic insurance. Some insurance companies dont insure Imports on classic policies but some do. 6K should get you a good condition Z, common faults are rust on the rear sills, leaking t-tops (90% of them leak but only a drop every now and then, if its pouring in theres a problem) Just listen to engine noises and see if it starts up first time. Ask them not to start the car before you goto see it. There are a number of diags you can do on the car without any hand held consultant. These range from normal ECU which will check sensors mostly, HICAS will check the mechnics and sensors of the rear steering and the ABS checks out the ABS strangly enough :D, and any problems will be given by the check light on the dash. Stuart
  24. It is impossible to say which one is the cheapest becuase they will be better for different people's situations. Some will be better for inner city people than others, some will be better for different ages. http://www.300zx.org.uk/insurance.htm Here is a list of places that are Z friendly. Phone as many as you can. Stuart
