Help required please dead autobox
Well, had a guy come out and have a look. Car has drive while fluid is cold. He diagnosed knackered front pump and possible clutches problems. He's making some calls before he comes back to me with a price. I'm not holding my breath. While I'm on here, firstly my thanks to all who have tried to help, and I'd particularly like to name Smithy, and Danny from DTA, who have both behaved impeccably and considerately. A special thanks to both of you. I hope to conclude my business with as soon as I'm able, you're gents. Simon.

just read the reply about a fried box. Is replacement the only option if this is the case? Simon

Help required please dead autobox
Right, went through the procedure twice. No faults showing. Previously having disconnected the battery for thirty minutes on Andy Duff's advice, the gearbox engaged in both forward and reverse gears for a short while. This has happened again, but without disconnecting the battery. Would this have anything to do with cooler transmission oil? I have heard about auto boxes overheating, particularly imports. Would a total change of oil cure this, or is it still likely to be more serious, ie the clutches aspreviously mentioned? Simon. :(

Oh round spherical objects! Manual isn't an option unfortunately. I think I need to sleep on this. Right now I feel like setting fire to it. I know from reading the other posts that I haven't had it as badly as many others on the site, but I still could have done without this right now. Thanks anyway, Simon.

My thanks for your offer Chris. I may need to take you up on it. Time is of the essence as I 've got my Mum's funeral on Tuesday, and so need the car ASAP. I do wonder if it is an electrical or component fault, as the symptoms shown, which happened on a motorway, where like progressivlry worse clutch slip, not just instantly nothing. Sorry for giving the symptoms after the diagnosis, I'm not thinking desperately clearly. (No change there I know!) Any other ideas now I've been able to give you more to chew on? Thanks to all who have contributed so far, Simon.

Hi guys, Having a pretty sh*t time at the moment. My auto gearbox has just given up the ghost, with no drive provided in either direction. Any advice of possible cause, or how best to cure ( no manual suggestions please ( pretty please)), or even someone who might be able to do the job for me. Fairly desperate as I need a car at the moment so if you have any ideas please advise. Smithy and Dan I have sent you both pms. Many thanks for reading, Simon. :( :(

Free gifts!!!
Anyone out there help me sort out the quandary I'm in? Someone has very kindly sent me a standard airbox. :) 1 I haven't ordered one. 2 I certainly haven't paid for one. :D :D Any ideas. It cost them £7.20 to send it, but there's no accompanying paperwork. Wrapped in a second hand box stuffed with a particular newspaper. If someone has sent this to me in error perhaps they'd like to let me know. Cheers, Simon.

Is there anyone who can help me source some of the golden nectar. (No not Fosters :duffer: ) I've exhausted all the haunts around where I live without success. Even Halfords ordering in shed loads hasn't worked. Anyone have a mail-order source? I don't mind buying in bulk (within reason)_ Simon.

Induction Kit Help......
I think this link speaks for itself. http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/index.html As I've only upgraded to this from standard I can't comment on the improvement you may get, but it is noticable from the basic setup. Kit available from Danny at DTA motors, and easy to fit yourself. Simon :D :D
