Ok with all this talk on TC!
I would have thought spinning round in circles an apt defence from a "rear end shunt" :D :D :D

Failed turbo
I've just found a pair on ebay in America. Seconds at least, off a Jap import (as mine) that's done 44*** kms. Current price including ancillaries $500 = £300 approx. Should I buy? I have just over two hours to decide. If anyone has done this before, what is the import charge like? I've been advised about £50 for delivery. Ebay item no: 243422395 Simon.

Failed turbo
Hi guys and girls, Bit down right now as I've had it confirmed the squeal I was hearing in my engine is a dying turbo. Money very tight at the moment, so perhaps I could seek some further advice from you good people. Should turbos be replaced as pairs, and if not do they have to be matched anyway? Obviously they will need to be of similar size and output boost, but will they need to be of identical make? Also what financial damage am I looking at for this? Simon :(

Someone help my blood pressure please!
Further to my comments yesterday, firstly the noise seems even louder today. Again I wouldn't let it run for too long. I'm also now not so sure as to where the sound is coming from. This morning it seems to be coming from the rear of the engine in front of the driver. Has anyone any info on what my problem may be, and/or who they would recommend I entrust to repair it, local to Hemel Hempstead. Your comments appreciated, Simon.

electronic transfers
As I work for a bank, and looking at the amount of money involved, I wouldn't expect much of a threat to the club's finances from that sort of source. However if a cheque is the way forward, then fine, no problem. If Ajay is still the person to send them to, please let me know, and I shall forward it on to her. Thanks, Simon.

Too quick for the rest of your reply. I was too frightened about further damage to leave the car running for too long. The noise seems to come from the right hand side of the plenum looking at the car from the front.

Someone help my blood pressure please!
Most ignorant tt owner seeks help from more knowledgable associates. My 1991 tt import made a horrible noise when starting up today. Sounds like a fan blade running against a metal surface. Is sensitive to speed of engine. Heart is beating too fast, wallet is cowering in the corner, face is looking vacant......All answers avidly read, but please be quick, the wife (God bless her!) is sharpening the cutlery with a wicked grin on her face. I think it's me or my baby. Help.... Simon:slap:

NZR- AA loan...
Unfortunately at the moment they (banks, financial institutions, sharks) are able to fleece you. Something to do with "rule of 78" for early settlement of finance. It's something the government are looking at changing to make a fairer settlement for the consumer. Don't know how long that will take them though. Interest to be charged on the loan is front loaded and added to how much you borrowed, and then divided by the number of payments to be made, eg 48 months or 60 months to arrive at your monthly repayment. If you settle early their is a formula for calculating the refund of the front loaded interest, which results in you having a larger balance for anything up to 18 months after you started the loan. There is a web site for calculating this, but I'm sure you've got better things to do. I've got a headache now so I'm going to shut up!! Simon:o :o :o

Boost gauge failure
This happened to mine and then miraculously came back as normal. No explanation I'm afraid, and just makes me keener to install a real gauge. Simon

Service Needed, Hemel area
Hello, I'm a new owner myself, living in Hemel Hempstead. I'd be very interested in a reputable mechanic as well, if any established owners know of anywhere locally. We'll have to meet up. Have you owned your's for long? As money permits I'd like to bring my 91 tt import up to the standards of some on this site. Simon:)

K & N Air filter
I looked at the info on this link. http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/index.html Is K & N the way to go, or would anyone recommend something different? Simon:confused:

Cooling system
Further info: Tried cleaning up the connections as suggested. Having run the engine for a bit longer now the temperature gauge does rise above normal, so I am definately overheating. Anyone able to point at a possible cause, and if it's not something I'm able to solve, can anyone recommend someone local to me (Hemel Hempstead) to assist? Thanks, Simon

Cooling system
Help required please. I now own my dream of twelve years, an imported t/t 2+2. I have recently performed an oil and filter change (Castrol RS 10/60), and am now noticing the auxillary fan is coming on earlier than previously, although the temperature gauge is not showing an excessive amount. I've trawled the threads for information, but would like further advice please. There is no loss of coolant at all, but I have had to top up the level. I have found the top hose in to the radiator to be hot but not pressurised, and the left hand side (facing the engine) to be hotter than the right. I am unable to "force" any further water in to the system though. Anyone any ideas? All help gratefully received, Simon:confused:
