  2. ok until i next get the engine out i will resort to using others advice and getting some hammerite spray and APC cleaner and doing it satin black............. hopefully will go with the polished plenum and the blue silicone that matches the cars body colour So would you say these two are what I need? Alsi should I get two cans of the former? http://www.toolbaydirect.co.uk/catalogue/product/Paint-&-Spray-Paints/562/Hammerite-Smooth-Finish-Aerosol-Satin-Black/162523/ http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/accessories/meguiars-apc-bottle/prod_378.html what you think?

  4. so true  i think ill watch a documentary instead..... or watch some more news on the volcano events of this week
  5. I'm only 24 :( I will try them but one thing I've noticed on all is that the zed won't be more than 3rd party when driving it :( not good enough for me I'm afraid
  6. just looking for the BARE essentials :)
  7. ahh ok :) any ideas how many pipes i should buy?
  8. as some of you are aware i am going to be removing most of the common things like egr, aiv etc and as i dont have hicas i wish to remove hicas unit in the engine bay.. i am also fitting the clutch for my manual conversion..... apparently i need some braided pipe and some of which has to have a no return valve (i think thats what its called) can anyone recommend how many of these i should first start of buying to cover the manual gearbox conversion and the relocation of the PAS pump and removal of the egr, aiv etc. i would prefer to get a few up front to save delivery costs but have no idea what i need. if it helps i can provide a list i wish to do to the engine bay so that someone can make a rough estimate to what i want :) list is: * Re-route PAS to rear of engine * Remove AIV, EGR valves and perform upper plenum perform Water Bypass) * Install clutch pedal and the part that stores the fluid??? i know im not clear but with the re-route and things i was just wondering if i need new pipes
  9. haha road runner want 2995......... ill stick with private insurance and having to pay 3 different policies for 3 cars :)
  10. cheers for all your answers. most of it is surface as ive prodded really hard (more than i should) and it was study.. i will also take funkysi's advice and get some pictures up soon. i will treat the rest and cut out any damaged bits if i find some will post in a new thread at some point in next few months. cheers all
  11. fair enough i guess.. i did challenge them that we have members on here with quotes for less but hey ho... guess ill wait a little while longer
  12. i just rang them and they want atleast £1800 and im 24 with 1 year ncb :( they said its because im 24 and that on this policy i would not be covered by the 300zx until i am 25
  13. so do i just rub it down and put it on? im going to be soo much more on top of this :) sitting over damp/cold conrete cant of helped over winter :( remember to paint concrete this year
  14. ahhh. thats where i am already jacking up from (trying) but you reckon i could also bring the axle stands from the front resting places down to the crossmember? that would help a bit as its soo far back for the axle stands described on guide
  15. looking under the car i could see surface rust in a few places.... pretty much all at the front in parts where the car was poorly sprayed and not masked up... which ended up spraying alot of things like pipes, radiator and quite alot underneath front of car.. before i do any thing major with the engine in future i wish to keep this protected... can anyone advise how i can treat the surface rust and then carry on protecting it in future?
  16. well im waiting for DNA to call me but road runner mentioned my zed could only be covered as third party......... :( waiting to call them back for price but not expecting it ot be cool... also with regards to DNA im thinking that even if i have reciepts to show i trade part time they will refuse to pay out............. BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!
  17. looking at posts for this as i wish to get some cheapies in and work on them part time and break the occasional zed. looking at DNA motor trade it says when was your company registered..... considering my idea is just hit i can only really say now... even then i have no proof. what are the requirements for trade insurance before i delve any deeper... also what is an average indemnity that i should request? really i am doing this just so i buy a cheapy car and tidy up/repair (mainly external stuff and small) and sell so that i can warrant having trade insurance any ideas or advice on how i go about on doing this?
  18. cool beans. have any links or numbers?
  19. dont forget to pick me up on the way :whistling: only joking! hope you have a good meet, as with the rest of you and i will try to get my car ready for the next big event.... not that i would be noticed amongst the rest of you and your upgraded zeds but would be nice to put faces with the names :wheelchair:
  20. can anyone recommend a good sealant... nissans charges are a bit ridonkulous to say the least....... just hoping to pick some up and apply the High Temperature Resistant Sealant for the waterpump :confused1:
  21. so doing it this way would avoid the need of a ramp? :punk: can you show me what the crossmember looks like? obviously its before the lifting point for the front but i dont want to make any silly mistakes :)
  22. i really want to go to my first meet but my car wont be ready by then :( i feel so excluded :) i must come along in the bangar to have alook still!
  23. Well I was following nissans guide and the front safety stands are a bit behind front wheel.
