Try and clamp it before the gauge.Then you know if its gauge, or plumbing at fault.

I used to laugh when i was younger at Silly american 99 year prison sentences and the 'three strikes+ your out rulings' thinking they were crazy. After seeing the joke punishments we hand out, its not funny. Can you imagine the outcry if this happened here? to*sers would be in 'safe' houses before their tea got cold.
