  1. Happy Birthday Si, hope its been a good one
  2. I used a cheap tester once on mine and got really low readings, im not sure the cheapies are reliable enough to give a true reading
  3. You will have removed the silica tablets that were in there from new that are supposed to soak up any condensation, you can add a silica gel bag or two to help prevent it in the future :thumbup1:
  4. I would love to do a V8 conversion, but as said the cost in comparison is quite high and apart from the sound, the VG is actually a great engine and cheaper in the long run to rebuild. Also there is an abundance of V8's over there compared to the UK
  5. A great amount of work gone into that, nice write up
  6. Mines been off the road over a year now, but will get it sorted over the winter, as you say life gets in the way and once you get the feeling again, it will happen, its too good to break, may as well keep hold until you are ready :thumbup1:
  7. Welcome to the club and congrats on your purchase, Gaz only deals in top imports, so you will have a beauty in your hands in no time at all.
  8. She does look good, where are you now with her, sorting the engine?
  9. Sorted it for you Steve, when you copy an image, paste it then add at the end of the line :thumbup1:
  10. I remember the pics, really class garage
  11. Holy shit man, thats unbelievable, i hope they get to the bottom of the cause, must be some form of stroke or brain issue surely? Good to see you back posting again, might help your recovery :thumbup1:
  12. Ah in that case i have a cheap solution to stopping the spiders and insulating ( to a degree) and it stops any drafts and keeps heat in Bubble wrap  I ordered 100m x 500mm for £12 delivered, you can if you want add some fibre insulation if required. But nothing will stop spiders totally, although you can get a spray apparently  For weather proof membrane, this will do, before you clad ( which i didnt lol) http://www.travisperkins.co.uk/TP-Polythene-Damp-Proof-Membrane-PIFA-Blue-4x25m-250mu/p/920483
  13. That sounds epic mate, bet you cant wait to get it started  SIPS is probably the quickest route, but depends on cost i guess
  14. I basically doodled out a 3 dimensional plan, showing how many uprights i would need at 400 or 500 spacing, i decided to go 500 spacing, more than plenty with 3x2, to keep the price down my uprights and all noggins are cls 3x2 at £1.99 a 2.4m length. Also less waste when using the 2.5m height limit for planning regs. Im doing a flat roof, so made it a pent roof which will run off into guttering, then into water butt. I have 6 sheets of 8x4 1/2 in ply, so 4 sheets in a straight row side by side and two sheets for a 2 ft length along the bottom and a strip on one side for an overhang over the door. Will probably get the roof boards on today and get some pics up :thumbup1: NB, unless the base is perfectly square, dont do what i did initially and set out the bottom rails to the edge, my frame for the base had been down over two years, before i eventually concreted it, so had slight warpage in the wood, so i erected the whole frame (4 walls, then squared it up before securing to the concrete base and the rest of the :thumbup1:roof rafters
  15. I sort of had a plan drawn out, which helped me plot for ordering the timber, but ive been back twice for more and will need some more cladding lol Sort of in my head i guess, but with hindsight, i should have measured in 8x4 sections, whih also would have made it simpler for the roof sections, but its at 17ft by 9ft which was the base footprint.
  16. Great fun, i did some carting on holiday and youre right, you use muscles you didnt know existed
  17. I originally bought the two square windows, closest in pic, for a tenner as they had no frames and my plan was to just use the glass and make a frame, then i offered them up as they were and thought they looked good, so they will be non opening and the the other window at the far end i got from my local demolition place for £15 and does have an opener, i wanted this higher up than the others as im partitioning the inside to accommodate a temporary spray booth, for doing bumpers and and small parts etc. When ive finished using it for spraying, it will then be used as an office/studio. The whole frame only took about 5 hours to erect, but the rest of it takes days lol, i reckon i should have the outside finished with roof on and sealed for the weekend, then i go to town on the inside, which will probably take another week :thumbup1:
  18. You are correct, i may be moving in there
  19. Got a bit more done today :thumbup1:
  20. If its a wide pavement like that in the pic, then i think its a good idea, pedestrians can still use the path and the traffic on the road can pass unhindered.
  21. Yes, also be careful that there is voltage on the catch, it acts as the boot light on/off button, nothing to give you a bolt, but may get a little spark if you loosen the nuts too much and move it (metal to metal), just incase you are wondering why it did it when it does
  22. Sad news mate, but health comes first and hope its nothing too serious :thumbup1:
  23. Having driven one on a driving experience it has to be Aston Martin DB9, dont mind the V8 or V12 an awesome bit of kit.
  24. No i wish i had one, i have screwed everything  i had a chance to buy a Dewalt nail gun really cheap, like £40 a while back and thought i wouldnt really have much use for it, then this lol, hindesight
  25. Nice offer Bri, but ive got the felt and felt adhesive etc it would cost a few hundred quid to get you here lol
