Dash it!
Firstly the rev counter needle, its more than common when sent in the post for the needles to move and 7 out of 10 will have the rev counter needle round to the hilt. It will not reset itself when plugged in, so you will need to take the front facia off the dash binnacle and move it back to zero by hand. The speedo needle works under load, ie when the engine is started, so does the needle sit at 20mph with the engine off or on?

vista nightmare
Thanks for the info, but couldnt get it to do anything. I pressed F12 to see what can be done, F8, F2 infact every F'ing button  Ive taken it to a local guy who has seen this many times, so hopefully he can get it going again, then i will upgrade to win 7. I knew vista was crap, but i dont need it to do much, i dont play games on it just browse the net or download the odd pic i need for the engine rebuild, i dont even download much music and if i do, i zip it over to my portable hard drive as and when. Cheers Graham

FAO JeffTT
Hi Jeff, having read your informative post on the plenum water bypass for A tt, you said you would get some pics up of the N/A plenum bypass, mainly the water pipes at the rear of the engine, do you still have some pics and if so can you post them up. Much appreciated Graham

vista nightmare
Good question, the product key etc is on the bottom of the laptop but most of the top writing has worn, so cant tell, till the system is fixed.

vista nightmare
Hi mate, it looks as though it will boot then leaves me 2 options. Repair computer, which goes through something then comes up with a window saying it cant do it. Or start windows normally and it reverts back to the first option. I have tried to start in safe mode, no go. I tried every option for restart after pressing F8 and still the same. I got fed up hours ago lol. There seems to be some sort of registry fix that ive downloaded onto this laptop, but how would i get it to load in my vista one? Cheers Graham and thanks for the offer

vista nightmare
I was on the net today as usual, i had this forum open in one window and robos zed site open in another window, then all of a sudden, i had a swirling mouse pointer as if something was happening or opening, then everything froze. Everytime i try to start the laptop, it goes on this bloody loop of trying to repair then cant. Ive tried to open in safe mode and it reverts back to trying to repair. Anyone had a similar problem? ive tried searching sites on the subject, but they keep mentioning the Vista CD, but mine didnt come with it, it was already installed. Im having to use my old laptop to type this, but its so slooooowwwww. Cheers Graham

Car insurance beware
I dont mind paying the £300 quote but mine had jumped up to £426 from last year with the same company. And yes i realise they are not here to help me, but unfortunately its one of lifes rip offs that we are obliged to pay lol

Car insurance beware
I dont know how many more bulshit excuses these firms think of to raise the premium. Here goes: my insurance is due for renewal in a few weeks, last year i paid £309.50 FC inc policy fee, accident plus etc. I just had my renewal quote of £426.50. Same company, same details, nothings changed. I phoned my broker, who cant really understand why its gone up but said that most insurance has gone up by about 20% this year, so why has mine gone up by about 40%, couldnt really explain. I phone the insurance company direct and they state that from January this year the import policy rules and rates have changed, although not necessarily because the car is an import, but due to categories etc.. What a load of tosh, needless to same im on the search now, the cheapest so far is £303 but thats still not as low as i think it should be, considering year on year it goes down quite a bit and thats with 9 years NC. Just thought i would throw it out there to see what your thoughts are. Cheers Graham

Brake light bulbs in perspex strip?
501's are not bright enough, i had to put a couple in mine for the mot. The bigger ones were a bugger to get hold of locally, so if you can get them Daz, i would stick to the orignals, which are bigger and at 13watt each, are brighter.

Climate control pod
Its standard im afraid, the climate control will stay at whatever you set it, but the economy and off buttons have to be turned on or off as required. Its not something thats bothered me or bother using to be honest.

Problems with Quick Shifter
The bushing bolt at the bottom of the shifter might be too tight. Try turning it back a turn, to give a bit more play.

Manifold bolts
Do the manifold bolts need to be high tensile, or will any type be ok? Cheers Graham
