There`s enough of us out there now with the 99 spec front bumper and associated (small) number plate. Anyone been pulled by the lads in tit helmets and told they`re illegal? I ask as one of my staff has a scooby with a similar plate and was forced to have it changed. My assumption about the 99 spec being legal as original equipment is sound..right?

Guess I should have thought about this earlier but...... I`m having one of Luke`s low level spoilers fitted to me Zed. He said it tends to limit rear visibility. Anyone here got one? If so, how much can`t you see out of your rear screen now?

My average (Jap auto TT) is arpund 200-220 miles per tank. This is mixed urban/open road stuff.

Bugger! I`ll have to call them....don`t like the Zed parked outside even, never mind in a public car park overnight.... cheerz for the tip Scoops.....better do some calling...

Its my wedding anniversary next weekend and my (American) wife has never been to the south coast. I`d like to whip her to Southampton for he weekend when I get the Zed back from JeffTT on Saturday morning. Can anyone suggest a good hotel in the area? p.s. had to stick this in help and advice as: 1/ It is help that I`m after 2/ my membership has not been confirmed despite mailing my cheque 23 days ago thanks for any help.....I wanna make this special for her.

LOL! Actually, Glenfiddich but I do appreciate your point. Can`t say that I`m too far away from the "hiding in the corner waiting for the next repair bill" club myself :o Just thought that a bit of peventative medicine so to speak may help....I's still reeling from the £300 repair bill to replace one water hose the week after I had the water pump replaced. Maybe if I had known the location of weak hoses around the pump, I might only have been spending 30 or 40 quid instead of £300.

That kind of thing is a bit scary. Seems a bit like moving the haystack straw by straw just to get at the needle. I reckon that a list of all hoses and pipes that are difficult to get to would be really helpful, so that they could be changed as a matter of course at the same time as a major job (ie gearbox swap) is being done...... Sensible? or have i just been enjoying too much single malt this evening?

Has anyone here got the tailgate tub replacement for their Zed? I`ve been dandying around wondering which rear spoiler to go for and have just seen it on Lukes site. Any ideas? I woulf have thought it would reduce the weight of the tailgate by quite a bit.

Just thought I`d post to say that what I thought was goosehonk is in fact a huuuge boost leak somewhere near my off side intercooler. Trouble is that I`m not sure whether I`m more stupid because I thought goosehonk sounded like a boost leak or because I failed to notice where the sound was coming from........utterly. Hey, it sounded like a damn goose to me! Don't suppose anyone else has made this mistake? No? Ok then..........I`ll slip away and be embarrased in private then.:o

While I'm here, has anyone got a pic of what the manual gear lever looks like? I have never seen a manual car and wonder what mine will look like minus its auto selection stick Ta very much

I don't know exactly right now but think around the £1400 mark. Luke said that it was the same price as getting the auto rebuilt and said that was £1400

Thanks for your help guys. Just had a chat with Luke and after your replies, have decided to take the plunge and go for a manual conversion. Its going in on Saturday........hope I've done the right thing. I was very attached to my auto but I guess that at least with a manual there's less techno wizadry to go wrong and it'll be a damn site cheaper to fix if anything goes wrong in the future. Looks like I'll have to start excercising my left leg huh? Thanks again:D

narrgh! Thanks Stuart...kinda what I was expecting really....... I dunno. I like my auto and from what MAcca says the fast road rebuild does do the job. You are right though........is there anyone else here apart from Macca with the fast road rebuild? Any comparisons to manual boxes? I hace to drive a manual every day so changing gears don`t worry me. Its just that with the amount of moolah involved, I want to get the job done right.

The auto box in my old thunder has possibly seen its last few days. What I`m wondering is this: If you had the choice, what would you do: 1/ Replace with stock auto box 2/ Replace with fast road rebuild auto box 3/ Go for a manual conversion I love the marriage of auto with the Z32 engine and am very tempted by feedback on the fast road rebuild. What do you all think?

Driving the Zed today and came to a set of lights. While stopped, I heard something clunk and the revs shot up to 2K at rest. At the same time, (while driving away) noticed that the car had suddenly started to oversteer. On the way home from the office just, the revs have returned to normal levels at rest but the rear end is still oversteering. Is there any way these two could be connected or did I just get two failures at once? I have had the front tie rod bushes andrear shockers replaced but the car has always been a little sloppy. Any help appreciated as I am VVV confused right now.:(

I`ve met a couple of folk after Zeds and have heard the words "a bit long in the tooth" more than once. To all of you out there thinking about Zed ownership, just take a look at parkers online. I`ve just spent about an hour trawling through the latest generation of Ford, Vauxhall, Audi, BMW, Subaru, etc...etc..etc...wannabes and have realised that the Zed is about as outdated and obsolete as a fusion reactor! All of the fastest cars in these manuacturers ranges make the Zed look reasonably frugal in terms of fuel consumption. The performance figures by even comparison just cannot live with a stock Zed TT and servicing costs are highly competitive for the 300zx community (if we all avoid Nisan main delaer like the plague). I just cannot believe how good the Z32 is in modern terms, even 14 years after its launch! To all those out there who are thinking about it, take some advice, think no more and go get that Zed!! (thus ends the party political broadcast for the Shropshire branch of the Zed worshippers society)

This will sound daft but try a bit of WD40 and a wiggle. My passenger side was precisely the same and I was dreasing the replacement cost. So when I washed the old thunder last weekend, I hit it with the WD and let her have a wiggle. Damn thing has worked perfectly ever since.. might be worth a try??

Seems to be the way to go.......I`m getting swayed...this old rubber thing does look pretty good with the 99 spec bumper too (IMHO)

I`m just about to pop up to Luke to get this damn ugly cracked rubber thing taken off the rear tailgate. If you had a choice, what would you have, a supra style high/low level spoiler or the fibregalss replica of the original Zed spoiler. I cannot make my mind up....what do you think?

On the lower right hand side of the drivers bit. Just aroundabout where your right knee would be if you were letting it have full boost :D :D :D
