  1. A mate of mine was going to buy a TVR Griffith but after testing one called me and asked how to find a decent Zed. I gave him a drive in mine last summer and apparently he aint forgotten. ( I think it was the Transformers soundtrack that pinched it for him) He`s seen one at a garage near St Neots in Cambs. but don`t know a thing about a TT Zed (94 import). IS there a chance that anyone here might be willing to help a future Zedder out? Any help would be appreciated as I don`t want him to end up with a nail.
  2. I saw my first Zed in over 8 months as I was trundling into the office earlier. It was blue....never seen a blue one before! A BMW 318 Ti overtook me and I was barely through saying prat when this blue streak shot by me. That Zed was seriously moving!!! A41 between Newport and A5 junction....anyone here??? If so, congratulations! Made the beemer look a real ass.
  3. Hey Jeff Replaced the fuse but it blew again as soon as I turned the lights on...... Seeya tomorrow mate...might be about 10-10.15 as I have stuff to work out at the office Seeya soon Steve
  4. Hi again folks Engine running/performance thing cured. Seems that the wire I found dangling under the front bumper was a connection for one of the sensors. When I connected it up, the ecu must have started to relearn settings, cos the more I drive it, the less evident the problem is.....thanks for all your help though. Another problem tonight though....came to drive home and...no lights....eventually nailed it down to a 10 amp fuse in the drivers footwell....replaced it and poof! it blows again. Any of you come across this problem before, or do you thing it is a bad or wet connection somewhere? Thanks Steve
  5. Yeah...reckon you are right....sorry for the confusion folks Just the grandad in me surfacing a little too much I suppose. Sh*t, maybe I should get an N/A huh? Thanks all
  6. No, no....the turbos are fine..when they are spooling its whoosh daddy! I was wondering about pickup on a TT without using boost, that`s all. Love using the turbos but wondering what performance should be without using them.
  7. Ok, I need to find out if my paranoia is getting just TOO ridiculous or not.... When you accelerate in your Zed (in normal traffic flow) do you get the turbo boost indicator to 0 or over? Mine is an auto and to keep up with normally accelerating traffic, I have to get the indicator to 0 or just over. Is this a mark of the autos changing up as soon as possible or what? It takes me about 8-10 seconds to get from 40-50 in third without going into the plus half of the boost gauge. Just wondering folks....come on, tell me I`m being just a little too neurotic here.....
  8. Thanks Tony..have just mailed Danny. He is a really nice guy too...met him when I got the Zed back from Jeff last time Thanks for help folks and I do hope that Andy Duff approves this thread as being worthy of the forum (minor dig)
  9. Well, maybe probe is a bit severe....but a thorough inquisition is in order. Seriously though, I dunno what is up there...I`m a Jeff fan don`t get me wrong and I gather he got his conzult from Danny but how the hell do you get to be UK distributor when you have had the system for just over a month? did I miss out on a franchise deal here somewhere??
  10. Zedworld..really? Jeff only got his (operational bug free) Conzult about a week before I picked my car up last (start of Feb) how did he get to be UK distributor? Off down to see Jeff on Wednesday morning so I`ll probe him thoroughly on the subject. Cheers Andy!

All I can say is that Iridiums work very well for me. Whoever had my car before me had some god awful copper or nickel tipped things in it. NGK and their resellers claim HP increases over plats. A mate of mine reckons that Iridium only comes from outer space - sounds like a piss take but apparently it's only found on meteors etc - LMAO! Well, iridium is relatively common in asteroids but the most common source right now is good old seawater and iridium itself aint that hard really but the alloy used for spark plugs is the next best thing to a refractory oxide except that it conducts! (melting point of over 3000K......as an aside of course....
  12. Who sells the conzult software? reckon it`d be better for me to have the opportunity to see exactly what my Zed is up to before I go plaguing Jeff, Luke or the forum with daft questions. Any help appreciated folks..thanks
  13. Hope not FT.....I have to use the Zed to get to work tomorrow (friggin Espace ain`t working!) And.....(`scuse me for being thick here)...what is the parking mast? Thanks for help guys, I know I`m being neurotic here.
  14. Cheers Matty, you have far more idea than me but as I said, everything on the car was working. The acceleration when cold is a little uneven but that`s the right hand side oxygen sensor. I just cannot work it out. Sidelights were good, fogs good, no erroneous readings or non-working dials. I had to clean road film off the male end so it had been disconnected for some time.
  15. Was washing the old thunder today and did the normal trick of standing back in the garage taking a look at the wonderous 99 spec bumper when I saw what I thought was a twig sticking out from underneath. Living out in the sticks, I tried to yank it out, only to realise it was a wire:confused: Managed to find the other end (it was a single male-female joint) and linked it back up. Thing is that there was nothing non functional on the car.....everything was working and I`m a bit confused as to what this wire does. It was trapped between the rear of the bumper and the front of the undertray about three inches over to the off side of the car. Do any of you have a clue as to what it might be for?
  16. Sadly, I can only agree with Jeff here.. Just before I bought my Zed in Preston, I went to birmingham to see what seemed to be a marvellous condition Zed. Import, 50Kmiles, etc..etc.. Dealer said the car had just arrived, with full service history but he had sent it to the translators !?!?! to be converted to english. All seemed good however until the engine was started. Oil pump was obvoiusly buggered as upper hydraulics were noisy unless the engine was being revved...had other suspicions too (coolant had oil droplets in) so asked for an oil and filter change before I went further. Dealer became very very aggressive throwing words like faith and trust at me. Said he didn`t want the car going to a "prick" like me and all but knocked me over in his rush back to the showroom. No idea what happened to that poor pooly Zed but please, anyone about to buy, get Jeff, Duffman or any other of the guys on the forum who knows their stuff to check it out. I hate to say this but there are some bad Zeds out there and with the amount a very good car costs to run, its worth a few quid in the short term to be secure in the mind that you have a good one.
  17. DO NOT talk about justice when you are in the wrong...point 1. Regardless, you shouldn`t have been doing it and you knew it. My wife was hit three weeks ago by some idiot in an Audi TT who was paying more attention to a handsfree kit than to the road. All she was doing was putting the wheelie bin on the bottom of our drive. Idiot comes along, one hand on wheel, other on earpiece, looking down and realises she is there at the end of our drive just too late. Hit her in the lower back with his wing mirror and f***ed off! If I ever find that SOB I will kill him. How can you permanently drive with two hands on the wheel....point 2. Window controls, (most) stereo controls, wing mirror and rear view mirror controls. All involve one hand being off the wheel. This issue is a joke. Cars these days virtually drive themselves anyhow, two hands are just not necessary at all times The police are pricks......point 3. Last year, a sales rep driving down the M54 not too far from me felt suddenly tired, could not focus and became very dizzy. He pulled onto the hard shoulder and turned his engine off. Shortly afterwards he passed out. This man, despite following all recommended advice was successfully prosecuted by the West Mercia constabulary of dangerous driving. He did what was right but has lost his license, his job and who knows what else...just not right! My final point?..well....I think that mobile phone use in cars is utterly out of line in any respect. Apart from this however, there are SO many rules governing every move we make in our cars these days that any real fun is being utterly lost. You (almost literally) cannot do right for doing wrong. Hell, a friend of mine was stopped in a 30mph zone last year for doing 28...why? because he was hindering the normal flow of traffic. He was prosecuted too. The world is going truly nuts and its no good. (BTW, no offence to the thread starter, I`ve just got too many personal feelings wrapped with the whole mobiles in cars thing to be really objective right now).
  18. Hey... Yupper, had the same problem with one of the stock rears on mine. Ended up buying a complete set of four UK alloys. I still have the other three in the garage (well, 3 plus the duff one) so if you can`t get it sorted and don`t mind a stock Jap wheel, I`m sure we can sort something out.... Best of luck though...
  19. Certainly agree with FT there.....a bird in the hand is not always worth two in the bush. I waited 8 months, looked at over a dozen Zeds and did over 2500 miles round the UK before I found the Zed I have now. I couldn`t imagine not getting an import really but then again, I was after an auto rather than a manual (had my left arm sliced off in a freak knitting accident you see;) ;) ). Just the difference in bodywork, mileage, maintenance with an import vs a UK car(generally speaking and in my opinion only). You do not have to be a neurotic gimp like me to find a good Zed. I only paid Just over £4k for mine (1991TTauto) and with its 60K service, say just under £5k. I really would advise erring on the side of outright scepticism. Anyways, as my Dad always says..."Steve, if it ain`t worth waiting for, it ain't worth having".....saying that, I`m still waiting for last years birthday card from him....that should be a great card!!
  20. Just to gloat.... On my 1991 imported TT, the rear panel lighting was a factory fitted option. Very rare apparently at least that`s what Luke at Zcentre told me.....I`m happy....:D :D It is worth it though....looks really really nice, especially when it is dark..although looks pretty cool even when its only just turning dusk....
  21. In my limited vocabulary, Quick is acceleration and fast is top speed. So, an auto is not as quick as a manual but is faster....see? I know its a bit screwed up but it works for me....;)
  22. Yeah, same here.....if you stand near the car you should hear the revs dropping in bands as the choke cuts out bit by bit. I always get stressed when the oil is cold, engine wear etc so when I drive the Zed I pull it out of the garage and leave the turbo timer switched on its 3 minute setting. Not enough to start laying carbon everywhere but maybe enough to thin the oil out a bit before starting off.....just another of my little Zed neuroses
  23. AND FOR MY POINT MAMMA IT DOES DEPEND!!! Manuals may be quicker but they are not faster but when it comes down to it A Zed is a Zed and well done indeedy!!!!! I have driven both and prefer the Auto, which is what I chose after testing a manual. The auto is smoother, protects the engine better and when you can blow anything into the weeds after 65, does it matter? Manual or Auto, there is few enough of us that it shouldn`t really matter. If I met a manual in need of a race I`d let him go for it because I just love my Zed!!!!!!! Fast? Pah! Top Speed? Pah! For God`s sake, we are driving the greatest living sports car on the planet.......does anything else REALLY matter.......NAH!!!!!
  24. Sorry guys I really do think you are MISSING THE POINT HERE!!!!! Think of how fast a 13 year old computer is compared to today...think of communications 13 years ago compared to today. Think of the Zed and think of its modern day counterparts and think exactly how awesome this car is....I mean really.. REALLY!! This car is incredible, unbelivable....what more can I say? I ask the question and my old thunder gives me the answer......actually Steve, yes, I am every bit as good and better than those modern day so called super cars.....WTF!!!!!!!!!! I know I`m a bit OTT here but the Zed really does conquer all. I bought it as a better looking version of my old S13 but found a car that is utterly astonishing. THIS IS MY POINT!!!! Sory guys and gals...I guess I`m still getting over the rush but I only paid £5K for this car and can put to shame cars costing 6-7 times as much......Nissan knew what they were doing...that`s all......the Skyline may be faster but OMG!! these looks!!! OK folks, worship over, you get the point.........take care and be safe...... Steve
  25. Hey Guys, I have a bit of an update.... Was on the M6 North of Birmingham earlier today and in the middle lane doing about 70. was attacked by an Evo VII (the old story, coming up your butt and zooooming off with blonde in the passenger seat). felt pissed and after asking the wife if she minded, took off in pursuit. Traffic slowed to 60ish near the M54 junction and after, I hammered the B****ard! I mean hammered, just destroyed, obliterated, disintegrated.......demolecularised..you get the point. Isn`t it just superb? I have a 13 year old car that when it can be bothered (auto you see) can mutilate almost any other car on the road! Forget Lexus, forget Lotus Exige, this Zed is utterly phenomenal! Utterly! You guys were right......f**K me, this thing can move! Ol, I am getting over the hormone thing right now...just waiting until 2004 when some poor 350Z owner thinks he`s a clever boy!
