  1. I just mailed Courtesy for a quote for centre bearing/ rear gearbox mount.......50 dollars was the price for shipping with UPSworldx. I recently ordered a PTU and waited for 6 weeks B4 Courtesy finally looked into the fact that I hadnt received the PTU......the address was wrong....the origional price was 39 dollars for post with US Postal........but I would pay a bit extra and use UPSworldx for post. Also for the PTU i paid 36 quid when it was delivered at my door for import tax...but I saved as Courtesy paid the post for me after the origional f*** up. HTH Cheers John Crisp
  2. Willie am I right in saying u had a brake shudder from your 300, was it the top link bushes?? Cheers John
  3. Cheers for the replies guys, Jaffa I'd like to get adjustable links but I am trying to keep costs down as I had to but a new PTU before christmas and am trying to keep this quiet from the MRS  as she is desperate for me to sell my car so she can get the kitchen extended......ffs. Cheers Guys John Crisp
  4. Anyone replaced the front suspension upper link bushes (from inner wing to strut) recently, who does the bushes seperate and prices. I have a few prices from some of the traders on here, anyone found anywhere else that does the bushes seperate. Cheers John Crisp
  5. Get a quote B4 the work is undertaken then hold them to the quote if they run over and make them justify the extra work. Also if u didnt authorise the extra work..why should u pay for it when they have went ahead without your authority. Cheers John Crisp
  6. Wow oki then, hopefully it aint the dreaded rocker cover...what a nightmare job that was...plenium off....ouch. Cheers John
  7. Mark I had an oil leak from my 300, oil was dripping onto the air cond pump at the other side of the engine, I thought it was the rocker covers but It ended up being the left hand cam seal (left hand as in looking from back to front). I could feel the oil when i put my hand down between the engine/fan and pushed my fingers in behind the plate that sits against the engine on the inside of the timing belt that the cam covers bolt onto, when i removed the belt/cam pulleys then the plate on the pass side, it is shaped so the oil doesnt go inside the cam box and contaminate the belt. HTH Cheers John Crisp
  8. Being in the Motor Trade albeit for a Commercial Truck Dealer, I see daily a lot of 'wrong' doings by management/supervisors at my work, a lot of the time in the end the customer is the one who gets shafted for the total time on a job when the receptionist hasnt got the proper fault from the customer and items checked on that job dont need to be......communication being the problem, this being only a simple example. Training is the next 'joke', with the technology going into cars now (and commercials) training should be at the top of any Workshop's list, it generally isnt due to it being seen as a cost with no gains, quite the oppisite i think in reality. Another thing is the mechanics on the floor, some are filter spinners and some are good all-rounders (servicing/diagnostics/etc), again a customer suffers being charged a fortune when the garage politics come into force..ie a workshop controller trying to piss a mechanic off by giving hima job he aint suited too...ie the filter spinner getting an engine repair or something like that. In the end the only person who looses out is the CUSTOMER, the mechanic doing the job he isnt up for takes too long on the job, this in turn piss's off the controller and away we go......but in the end only the customer suffers....he doesnt get his car back on time as promised, the only thing being is as i say the controller trying to make the filter spinner look bad by giving him the wrong job etc etc. So in the end all the garages i would think have guys that are filter spinners and good all rounders.....so to me its pot luck with probably 90% of garages, for me I work in that enviroment and when i had grief with the wife's Citroen Picasso and took it back to the local dealer.....fun was had by me making the receptionist/workshop foreman/workshop manager...and woohooo then the general manager squirm.......PAYBACK TIME......these feckers werent gonna shaft me and they never. Just my 2p's worth...sorry to let it drag on a bit. Cheers John Crisp
  9. Can anyone tell me if the wheel centre's are the same for a MAZDA MX6 and the 300 as I have a chance of 18 inch wheels from a smashed MX6 for next to nothing as they need refurbished. Cheers John Crisp
  10. Yeah Richard, UPS is definately the prefered option and its easily tracked from the e-mail they send u. Cheers John Crisp
  11. At the end of October my 300 cut out while returning from work, anyways after plenty messing about i suspected the PTU, I ordered one at the start of November, they took a week and a phone call to tell me the part was out of stock when ordered but was now in stock. Then i received my conformation mail that the part was sent via DHL.......but they were unable to track it and DHL was unable to track it....by this time its 1 week B4 Christmas...6 weeks of ignoring my e-mails, then the response...they had made an arse of my address...ok I mailed the correct address.....23rd December my PTU finally arrives here...with a free 'Sport Z' magazine and Courtesy paying for Express Mail for my PTU so it got to me so quick. For me Courtesy gave me (eventually) excellent service and for people ordering or thinking about ordering...I selected the 40 dollar poat option when i ordered...maybee its wise to pay a bit more and get the UPS Courier to deliver. So PTU for 180 dollars plus 36 quid tax payed when delivered aint bad. Just my 2p's worth. Cheers and a merry christmas to all......John Crisp
  12. Andy probably any of the guys making stainless systems will build one for u for cash saving the VAT, maybee a pain in the arse as the guy will make it like on a saturday afternoon, but thats worth a try to keep the cost down. hth John Crisp
  13. I had plans to make a single exit system for my 300 but my car isnt running 100%yet. I had a stainless silencer with 2.5 inch bore straight through built by a local exhaust company for cash not through the books for 80 quid, I have a 5 inch bore tailpipe coming from eminox for 15 quid, the flanges can be bought from the exhaust company I used for 10 quid after I buy 2 cat gaskets and the pipes, the main section to the silencer is gonna be 4 inch piping again from eminox (this is sections of welded exhaust with bends/straights spare from my work), so all in all hopefully it wont be costing me much to have it made as a workmate is gonna weld it for me after I get my PTU from Courtesy that I have been waiting for 6 weeks. HTH John Crisp
  14. Cheers guys Typical..better service from abroad...i hope it arrives soon as i am desperate to get back on the road. Cheers John Crisp
  15. What sort of timescale can I expect my new PTU from courtesy to arrive at my door, it was ordered last night. Cheers John Crisp
  16. Ady have u had problems with the car cutting out...my 300 is in my driveway just now, it cut out with me during the week then 3 times coming home too.....it starts if its left for a day then it appears with the engine warm it wont restart...i am trying to locate a PTU locally . Cheers John Crisp
  17. Cheers Andy When the car ran today it was missing a cylinder again typical ptu symptom...There are 2 300's in scrap yards close to me so i can hopefully source one locally. Cheers again John Crisp
  18. Today i cleaned up all the terminals on the injectors and idle valve..car started from cold and ran np probs but roughly like it was missing a cylinder........then i stopped it and left it for a while but the engine was still warm when i tried to restart but it wont start now.......PTU maybee?....its funny that when car is started from cold its ok....but with heat in the engine it wont start. Any input welcome Cheers John Crisp
  19. Cheers Andy for the numbers. My fookin car wont start now. The idle valve mentioned.....would that cause non-start if the plug was corodded......there is a valve on the left side with a pipe going to the plenium like air pipe with a plug with an orange/black wire on it...is this the idle valve. Also all my injector wires are corroded and i had the car running today on 5 cylinders and mooving the wiring for the injectors made the engine note change dramatically and even had the car cut out....then restsrt sometimes. To make matters worse my pc had a virus and now after rebooting it i cant install any programs aka acrobat reader to read my manual on cd.......ffs when it rains it feckin pours.. Cheers John Crisp
  20. Has anyone sourced a part number for the terminals for the injectors...mine are all green and my car is running like on 5 cylinders. Cheers John Crisp
  21. Well i think I have found the prob.....the loom i was talking about at the back is for the injectors....when i wiggle the connectors about the car revs change dramatically....i had cleaned them all up when the plenium was off but i think maybee new terminals/plugs needed. Anyone sourced plugs/terminals for injectors on a 300tt b4??? Cheers for the replies everyone....john crisp
  22. Cheers guys I think i have found the source.....when i wiggle the wiring going to the right hand bank close to where the main loom runs along the top close to the bulkhead.....well the car wasnt starting but then it started and cut out, then restarted when i wiggled the wiring again.....kids in bed soon.....then i can get some time to look at it.. Andy.. thats all that happened earlier today..it just cut out..no warning or lamps flashing.... Cheers John Crisp
  23. Stuart With the TPS did u not get the engine management light flashing as I am not. Also I have noticed when i pull away (when the car was ok) that the revs dropped down as though the car was gonna staul but it never...maybee the tps right enough. I tried again but it still wont start but i need to wait till 9 2 nite as my kids are still up b4 i get a chance to look at it. What a pain in the onions cars are when the dont go. Cheers John Crisp
  24. Cheers Jon I moved my car to my driveway from the street, the engine still being warm i lifted the revs for a short while......the car cut out and wont restart now....i am gonna try and get it running later on. Earlier 2 day when it cut out the engine would crank and crank but not start...then after playing with wiring plugs etc it started no probs... Cheers again john crisp
