Smoke From wheel arch
Mike tbh i would say it was white too but i never really took notice of the colour....all i know is it was burning oil for definate and would be flumes of smoke coming out the wheel arch on the pass side..........it is difficult to access the plate at the back of the cam cover but when i put my hand and felt the back of the cover...it was wet and the oil was dripping down and running back towards the turbo's. HTH Cheers john crisp

Smoke From wheel arch
Mike I had a similar experience after running my car for a short distance, except it was the passenger side. The fault turned out to be leaking camshaft seals. I resealed the rocker covers first but then had to strip the front end down to replace the cam seals.I could feel the oil when i put my hand down the front of the engine and above the air cond pump against the plate at the back of the cam cover..it was running onto the exhaust and burning, with quite a lot of smoke..with the bonnet opened the smoke came up from the back of the engine. How much for a Z32?
Russ Cause a car u maybee view has a 'main dealer service history' in my opinion that means nothing as I know the things that go on in dealerships with apprentices servicing your car and u get charged the full monty, etc...i think u would be horrified at some of the stories i have and probably other members on this forum have a few too about main dealers. Also cause a car has a full service history aint gonna stop things going wrong with it. My view is that if u view a car and u like it...go for it..even more so with a Zed but probably a full inspection by the AA/RAC etc should hopefully find any problems but as for major stuff like engines etc..i think its a chance u take...no one can plan for turbo's going etc. If u want a Zed go for it..thats what i say. Just my 2p's worth john crisp(no offence taken or intended)

How much for a Z32?
Russ u can buy a brand new car that gives u a shitload of grief so i think its really a lottery with any car never mind a Z, apart from the fact that a lot of repairs are a nightmare on the Z compared to any run of the mill cars like escorts etc Hope u find what u are looking for. Cheers John Crisp

zed friendly garage in Scotland
Hello Martin I'm in the South Side of Glasgow but as I am a HGV mechanic I do all my own work on my 1993 UK 300TT. Locally on this side there are a few places that come to mind as being 'specialist' but I cant say about people i know who have had work done on their cars or quality of service etc. Do Calder Motors not have a Workshop, my work has a depot in Broxburn and I could ask some of the guys who work there if there are any garages they would recommend. Any one know anything about the rear wheel bearings?
Stuart, I can get the phone number of the company that supplied it for me in the morn, it cost me £80. As for doing the job, I havent yet attempted it yet but I am lucky as I work in a garage with all a press, but yes i'd think that after stripping the bearing down the hub would need to be pressed into the new bearing after the old bearing track was removed. I replaced the nsf wheelbearing on my Z just after I bought it and it was a nightmare as I work on commercial vehicles so everything is big.......i hate working on cars but I really grudge paying someone like Nissan to have an apprentice repair my car and charge me a fortune. Do u not have a workshop manual, even if u dont work on the car yourself it allows u too see what is needed b4 the car goes to a garage and u will know if they are ripping u off. HTH John

Any one know anything about the rear wheel bearings?
Sorry I just read your post properly there, when I sourced my bearing, no-one asked me about the different types of bearing u r quoting, they told me they are all the same. In the manual i have it shows u what looks like the bearing i have in the box ready to fit in the near future, I have pics of it if it helps. HTH John Crisp

Any one know anything about the rear wheel bearings?
I recently bought N/S/R bearing, it was made by SKF and consists the bearing and bearing housing. It cost me £80 from a motor factor, this was trade price, can u not say u work in the motor trade to get a discount, like maybee u work for a dealer etc as usually the trade shop dont ask for a trade order line so u get the discount. I will go to my work 2 nite and get the part number and post it on here for u if it helps. HTH John Crisp

steering rack bushes
Anyone done steering rack bushes, my Z has a bad brake shudder above 40 mph and 2 nite i put the car over a pit and rocked the steering.....the rack moves nearly quarter of an inch side to side. Anyway the steering doesnt feel right the more i think about it but there are no clunks/bangs from my car at all over bumps. Anyone done the bushes for similar reasons? Cheers John Crisp

Bushes
Simmo i just fiitted 2 bushes to the front tension rods on my 300 party as the origional bushes were fu**** and as it was the cheaper alternative. 2 bushes were 60 quid delivered...Nissan wanted 91 plus vat each....i just fitted them 2 nite and there is a big difference to the steering and the brake shudder i had is almost gone just very slight. Jusy my 2p's worth John Crisp

front suspension bushes
Cheers Willie I think its just bad luck on my part that the vibration has got worse since i did the pads.....the brakes were fine b4, no shudders at all and the discs aint new but they have a very small lip with wear and next to no grooves etc on them.......i will try the number u gave me and go for new bushes, i have a press etc at work so that shouldnt be a prob. I honestly think the discs are fine, I have noticed the drivers side bush as being damp since i have had the car, only since the passenger side one leaked like it did did i take a close look at them. Come to think of it the steering doesnt feel right and hasnt for a week or so......here's hoping. Cheers again willie..........john crisp

Chers Scott Well to be honest my car is all over the road when u push it and the shudder is quite scarey when at above 40 mph , not that i drive like a loonie . Maybee the bushes have been fooked for a while and this is them just really coming to light. Cheers JohnCrisp

Cheers Stuart I dont know what road to go down here whether to try and get 2 links from Andy Z or get replacement bushes like from Z World. I'd like to go the full bush kit road but pennies are lacking just now. Cheers Again......John Crisp
