  1. Can the radiator be moved backwards a bit (towards the engine) without taking off any water hoses? Tried to fit my BOV's yesterday again and I can't get the fan out past the oil cooler. I tried to move that and snapped one of the bolts - they're all rusted solid so don't want to pursue that route. To get the fan out now I wanted to move the rad back a bit which would allow enough tilt to wiggle it past the air intake pipes. Nothing is simple on this car
  2. Flashed you - looked like you realised and went for your lights but too late!
  3. What speed did you get up to? You must have a seriously modded Z to beat a lighter car with 490 bhp.
  4. Mark Shitter mate, bad luck. Try here http://www.zcentre.co.uk/suspension/lkbrgs.htm for the link arms (I need one too as it happens but haven't got round to it).
  5. Update........Finally managed to get these buggers done this evening with help of a friend. As it turns out, the bolt we thought we would try to cut off as I couldn't get to the nut underneath is actually part of the plate (or at least it's brazed on). Unfortunately, my mate had a go at angle grinding a slot in it (before we realised) but slipped, and the spinning disc cut a uniform 2mm by 4mm deep groove through the end of his thumb including the nail. Not for the sqeemish! Feel guilty letting him loose with it as he lost half a finger working on another car last Christmas when he caught it between a spinning wheel and the brake caliper. Never found the end either! The heat from this appeared to losen the nut though, as it came undone fairly easily afterwards. :D
  6. I like the opening of Gumball Rally when the Ferrari & Cobra bomb through a deserted NY in the early hours of the morning. Rest of the film has some good high speed driving as well.
  7. I thought that too - looked long and hard for mine and eventually got one off a member here. Maybe once people have them, they keep them. I know I will mine unless something drastic happens.
  8. Cheers chaps. Wiggling the wires seems to have cured it again, :hyper: although I couldn't tell which one it was  Will keep an eye on it I suppose. Thanks. Alex.
  9. Just driving back from footy, had adjusted the boost contoller again a bit to see if I could tweak response a bit. My car was running fine, although boost was dropping off a bit due to the new settings, but I haven't gone over board on settings I don't think. Didn't touch the unit again, but hitting boost again a few miles up the road, car felt a bit slower. Slowed down and it flelt like it was running rough suddenly. At low speed the idle is not too lumpy but the car feels like it's running on 5 cylinders. It souns very rough and the engine is shaking a bit when you rev it. There is no smoke, can't see any pipes off at least at the top of the engine. What should I look for? What checks can I do?
  10. As per my sig
  11. Can anyone tell me when my fee is due? I'm sure I've been subscribed more than a year now, as this is my 14 month of ownership.
  12. Cos Interested - you have a pm. Alx.
  13. Yes - your teeth might fall out 5 years from now :D I used to get faint / dizzy spells most summers when I was a bingo caller (dont laugh!) where it seemed like the whole room was about to flip over. It felt like I was going to fall off my stool so I used to suddenly grab it from time to time much to the rest of the staff's amusment. Put it down to the 13 hour days with fried food every lunch & dinner time. Changed my diet a bit and tried to get some exercise in, have been fine since.
  14. Nice gunmetal grey UK TT, big twin exhaust reg L500... Much better condition than my year older UK! :( Anyone on here?
  15. Nice Tony - my favourite M car, good choice.
  16. Mine was Ok when setting up with John's help, then went way out again after I started playing too much! Got mine sorted a little better yesterday, will have a look tomorrow for you and post as well, can't hurt to have a few. I do notice that things get a bit peaky if the car is cooler, say the first time you boot it after 10 or so mins of gentle driving off boost. Then as the car gets hot, things settle.
  17. Back of my hand is red raw for trying, but no joy. Does anything stop me turning it the other way up once I do get it out? Does the flat headed bolt seat underneath.? Was considering drilling it out and sticking another bolt of similar type in there afterwards.
  18. Thanks, your pic also shows the offending flat headed bolt http://www.300zx-mods.co.uk/images/car9.jpg I think this is a case of me just not having a tool good enough to get underneath the plate - if it moved up as far as the pic then I'd be away. I need a socket headed spanner.
  19. What colour was the Cav mate? Hoping it's not somebody I know
  20. I had a quick look underneath - car is stock under there so you're right that box does get in the way. Don't like going under the car with just the jack anyway - no stands / trolley available to me. If someone has done it before, why on earth didn't they spin it around so the nut is at the top like the other one? I think I am going to have to pull some strings and get a special spanner made up - the bushings are knackered as it really gets tough to move the lever after a long thrash due to heat.
  21. Fecking Nissan are a pain in the arse - changing these bushings following the Twinturbo.net tech guide looked easy, and was until I came to the two bolts that hold the stick onto the metal plate bolted to the transmission tunnel. Obviously, the US cars had a bolt with a 12mm head and a nut underneath so you can hold the nut with something and unscrew the bolt itself - my car.....of course not, it has a bolt with a completely flat round head, nothing you can get on at all, so the nut is the only option. It is impossible to get to with the kit at my disposal - I need something like a small spanner with a step in it with a very shallow 12mm socket welded on. Do things like this exist? Anyone want to lend me one at USC?
  22. I spoke to Paul Whiffin (whifbitz) a few times when he was just starting out - nice enough guy and have heard good things about his business.
  23. Don't need my lump again then Dan? Are you sure you don't want another spare just in case ;)
