  1. Yes higher temps when everything has expanded with the heat. Or a lifter pumping up holding then valve open slightly. If all else fails, try a compression check
  2. Do a compression check 1 when cold and 2 when warm. Stuck valve????
  3. I wrecked my UJ when I got towed once. The extra load of not having the power steering tipped it over the edge.
  4. RobH. The voltages sound about right. Read page 32 of the steering section http://300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=st&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=32&design=default&total=98
  5. Check your battery connections and where they attach to the body, etc
  6. Ask this guy. His car makes 185 rwkw (250 rwhp) and the motor has done 198000km's http://www.300zx.co.nz/phpBB2/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=216
  7. The level of power steering provided is controlled by a unit down by the ECU. On a TT it is quite large unit as it also does the Hicas. On an NA, the unit is small. The pulses from the speed sensor are passed to the speedo clocks then to the control unit. If the speedo is OK then the problem may well lie in the controller itself or the solenoid on the steering rack (or wires to it). I have fixed a control unit once simply by running a soldering iron over the dodgy joints with a bit of fresh solder. Check the solenoid connections then go from there.
  8. Take all 300ZX's off the road - they're obviously dangerous. That's what they did with the Concorde isn't it. A bit falls off one plane so they take the other one out of service.
  9. Does the speedo play up ?
  10. Did you have the air con running. Sometimes the moisture which is drained from inside the car falls down on to the passenger side exhaust
  11. Water doesn't compress like air. Just a thought
  12. Check your temperature sender / clean it's connections (the yellow one)
  13. Check the fuses / relays / fusable links under the hood. One set by the brake booster and the other set in the relay box
  14. Have to agree with jimmytt. If this is the pipe from the turbo to the intercooler, all your "compressed" air is going back to atmosphere. Any pressure you might make with the other turbo will be vented back through the balance pipe.
  15. Knew it had a strainer but didn't even know they had a filter in them.
  16. Or you have no fuel to the injectors
  17. How did you bleed it ?
  18. I had a similar problem and it was a small leak dripping down on to the hot exhaust, hence the occasional noise. Open the bonnet and look for small puffs of steam
  19. Yep - defo an aerial that's no longer needed
