  1. sounds like the rear are the same fitment as a 200sx. in which case they are the wrong length and the tops dont fit
  2. in a lwb its in the boot on the drivers side under the trim next to the strut tower swb its under the trim behind the drivers seat
  3. car mad is your 99 spec the same as the nissan item or is it like the escort one with a bit of a splitter thingy? also how are the swb skirts coming along
  4. another zed in shropshire, there are quite a few of us now on here, i think yours is the first in white though as the rest are black as far as i know (4 of us)
  5. i bought this one last year http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/boxer-55-compressor/path/diy-semi-professional-air-compressors-2 a 3hp is about all you will run off single phase im using it to spray my car at the moment and its well up to the job using a hvlp gun. however i am using a smaller compressor to feed my air fed mask
  6. there should be a bit of foam over the last wing bolt and i think the trim should carry on around the corner. on the bonnet there should be a seal which clips into each of the holes and runs across the back of the bonnet
  7. as pete said, i bought my new shell as relativly rust free and is now about 8 months into a full bare metal restoration. im sure that if i were paying for the work it would be over 10K Any bits that have rusted really need cutting out and replacing, once metal has started to rust you will never really stop it. if you accept this fact then you are left with two choices make do/patch job or full on restoration/baremetal respray. a good paint job over the existing problems will put you back where you are now in a year or two. its a hard decission particually if you are picky over bodywork condition. i would suggest you spend the couple of hundred quid getting it somewhere near where you are happy and enjoy the car
  8. all im saying mate is dont assume that the centre line of the arm is parallel to the tube in the vertical plane because its not. its the centre line of the arm ie the theoretical line drawn between the centre of each ball joint that you want to be parallel to
  9. Fair enough mate, im only trying to give some experienced advice.
  10. nice work but you do realise that its the centres of the ball joints that you want to get in line, not the physical arm?
  11. Think it must have been your car mate, just outside newburry heading onto M4 looked stunning-off to be mapped?
  12. can you get rps plates? ive got a mint cover but the friction plate has seen better days
  13. bought mine from 2fast2cool for not much more than £20 also had i hicas bar for £30 and a rear strut brace for £5 (not sure if it will actually do any good) i was a little supprised too
  14. what size tyres will you be running my rears are 10" with 38 offset running a 265 at the rear. fronts i will be running about a 225 on a 9" rim with 18 offset but they will be quite a stretch on the front fantastic rims by the way
  15. Transaction ID: 05957349WH294614E via paypal sent a few mins ago Pete
  16. i think the lifters are the same as an rb and the rb and ca are closely related so there is a good chance
  17. ill post up some more pics. its half sprayed at the moment, need it finished before the weather closes in
  18. It may not work but it will look good
  19. fantastic work there mate. the later pics look all too familiar to me at the moment. altough i did not have to do the rust repairs you have had to ive needed to replace the pannel under the battery tray as acid must have ate its way through and ive replaced the passanger headlamp tray bit. luckily i have a breaker to hack up for spare bits. im just filling and sanding the front inner arches. it seems to take forever to get all the little curves around the strut tops and along the edges correct. your finished pics are very usefull to me to look at to see which brackets i can cut off and which holes i can weld up although i have just realised i have welded up a hole for the n/s brake line clip just before where it goes though the wing. doh any close up pics of the strut op areas and tips on how to get the profiles correct. im a bit stuck on the corner where the strut tower/inner arch and side rail meet
  20. love the plenum on that. i think its ceramic coated loose the fuel filter, cruise control battery and some of the wires and its about as far as i expect to get. my car is black so im not sure how obviously stripped it will look. ant do you have a finished pic
  21. yours look great too mate, can wait to see it. far bigger spec than i will have i am trying to really push the boundries but im a bit stuck on the pas pot. i was going to mount it low down with only the cap poking through where the washer bottle is on the lwb (mine is a shortie). however after thinking about it i think this will be lower than the pas pump and will end in the fluid leaking out so no good. i might try to get it under the nose pannel but its going to be getting full under there with a large filter, fuse box, hid balasts, intercooler pipes etc. its the rewiring under the plenum that i think will cause the most grief. i dont want any visible wires/trunking unless un avoidable. plan still stands as only visible parts to be the engine/brake servo and clutch pot. but i might move those too
  22. ant, i wont bother reading you thred again, ive read it so many times already:thumbup1: fantastic build there mate are you up and running yet mate
  23. whilst the car may not be to everyones taste it is a very fine exaple of some excelent farication and attention to detail. i dont doubt for 1 second that anyone is questioning that. it is a great asset to the club. In many ways i think its good that people on here question the asthetics of a car like this, it generates new ideas and brings fresh thought on what a car like this is. I know at the moment there are quite a few cars in the making that should really represent the club in a good light. personally speaking i am biuilding a zed that i hope to be a prize winner too, it will be very different to the beast .i dont mean to sound like i expect to win any prizes but it is an ambition of mine to do so. the only way you can really do this is by producing what you belive is the ideal car in your mind. Hats off to jason for his efforts and its good to see the hard work paying off. i dont know him at all but im sure he will relish the competition. Just my thoughts
