  1. This weekends task was to fit the Mongoose Catback exhaust I bought second hand from Banzai Breakers! With it up on axle stands, I found that the Cats have obviously had some work on them before as it looked like a new bracket had been welded on and some previous bolts had sheared and some headless bolt threads welded in. It was a bit of a bodged mess. We ended up having to drill out 3 of the 4 holes in the end and have used nuts and bolts to attach the new exhaust. The easiest thing was to remove the whole exhaust including the Cat section so we could really get at it rather than trying to faff about with it still attached. Was very easy to take off and the nuts were quite loose where the Cat section attached to the down pipes. There were also no gaskets where the down pipes meet the cat section so we made some up from a sheet of gasket material and then we found the gaskets from the Cat to the Catback had almost completely disappeared! I think a previous owner had just reused the ones that were there when they put the Japspeed on and they were total garbage. Will explain I got a fume smell under throttle when the windows were down! I’ve also found a hanger on the cat is totally missing, and two hangers that should be on the car further back are also gone so a trip to the exhaust shop is coming up next week to get it all squared away! Anyway, the exhaust is now on as best I can, there may be a cable tie or two on it temporarily! Once it was on, I took it for a gentle run out, and after it was warm I pulled over and it appears a weld has failed on one of the sections as it was blowing a bit. These are the challenges with second hand parts but still, should be an easy fix when the hangers get done! It does, however, sound and look great! I’m really pleased with how it has come out. The drone has gone and it’s quieter when cruising and has a bit of a rasp too it under acceleration!
  2. I’ve had to take the Cat section off the car to drill out some boned bolts. To do so I had to take it off the down pipes from the turbo and the bolts were very loose. Does anyone know the torque settings for these?
  3. Rich, have you tried mentioning it on the Facebook page for the club? Very happy to be representing the club! Obviously I’ll be bringing the car up Thursday, is there a time we can get there? Need to be early as possible. Then I’ll be up in the Sunday all day to help out
  4. Good news! Passed the MOT today, 3 advisories, minor non structural corrosion underneath, and brake pipes on one side obscured by muck etc Happy with that. Plan to get the underside all cleaned up and undercoated next year anyway.
  5. Thanks Raja, think they will help
  6. That might explain it, have you got any photos? Might need to bodge mine
  7. So here’s a question. Im missing some trim and have been putting it back on bit by bit, around the inside of the boot lid are a couple of strips I’ve got but I still feel like I’m missing something and not sure how to attach them. Can anyone help me out here? I’ll put up pictures of what I’ve got but there are still some holes where something else was clearly attached before
  8. I’ve also got my hands on a Mongoose catback exhaust to replace the Japspeed one. I much prefer the quad pipe look and I’ve heard they sound really nice too! It was ok when I got it, had some yellow overspray and was dull but looked in good Nick. Not installed it yet as I need to get a gasket and some new hangers but it has had a good clean up with some light abrasive scourer and some metal polish and has come out amazingly well! Almost too nice to use ?
  9. It’s been a while since I last did anything to the Zed. Have used it a lot over summer and it’s been brilliant. Managed to get some time at a mates house to do some bits now the kids are at school again. nothing major this time but I removed the old air box and filters (which looked a bit worse for wear) and installed a K&N cone filter in its place. The air box weighed way more than I expected! Relatively easy, although getting the bolts out of the air box mounts under the bumper was tricky. And then my mate knocked about 7 bolts down in to the engine bay which we recovered with a magnet! Life saver! Also, put the stickers on the Works wheels, looks better I think, also fitted the clips to the boot lid for the parcel shelf and a microphone to the stereo so I can actually call people now!
  10. Thanks for organising something, I’m working nights that weekend though so will be fast asleep at 10am! Would have loved to join otherwise! hope you get some good weather!
  11. Was it a straight swap mate? I drive the Goodwood FOS in the rain at night through country roads and it was stressful!
  12. Welcome mate! loads of collective knowledge on the OC (not from me, I’m learning off everyone else!!) any more photos??
  13. Think I’ve sorted work so count me in Rich, the car can be there all 4 days and I’ll attend on the Sunday so can help out if needed then as well. I can’t do anymore I’m afraid as I’ve got 3 young kids and I’m not sure missus’ would be very happy if I sloped off for 4 days to look at cars! ?
  14. Shouldn’t be a problem getting my car uP on the Thursday either way and it can stay all weekend.
  15. Im trying to get the Thursday off work, and am free all weekend so happy to exhibit my car. Would be amazing!
  16. Funkysi that was epic mate. Thanks And thanks to others as well! I’ve got a modern garage but it’s not insulated or attached to the house. I’ve got weather stripping on the bottom of the door to keep out some of the rain I noticed that was coming in after bad weather. And the floor is painted, whether that actually makes any difference to anything! ? how often, per month, would be a good amount to drive it instead? If my garage isn’t great for storage I’m thinking I keep it taxed and then just take it out for a spin when it’s dry instead?
  17. Why’s shouldn’t it be left idling mate?
  18. Now the weather is turning the cars getting bedded down for the winter (until the sun comes out on a dry day and I can’t resist taking it for a spin!) What advice do people have for this? Im going to buy a trickle charger and plan on starting it up every few weeks. Will probably drive it out on the drive and then back in just to keep the tyres turning.
  19. Received! Think it’ll look great on a black car. I take it that it’s just glued on with the two used to line it up right?
  20. Thanks Richard! Let me know if you need anything, can I cover postage for you?
  21. Hiya, this still available? I’ve been looking for a red one!

  23. I might try and get over for this, it’s 2 hours drive so a good excuse for a run out!
  24. I’m away with friends this weekend, I’ve put in the diary on the off chance they cancel and I can attend!!
