  1. Lovely engine bay that ?
  2. I would love to but I’m away on holiday sadly!
  3. New problem! While putting the balance tube back on after swapping coil packs etc, the two screws that hold the passenger side on have both dethreaded the inside of the plenum. ?‍♂️
  4. To try and solve the problem with cylinder 5 I’ve done the following: 1. Swap the ignition pack with cylinder 1. Didn’t fix it. 2. Cleaned the connectors on the PTU. Didn’t fix it. 3. Swapped the spark plug with cylinder 1. Didn’t fix it. The cylinder will fire on a cold start for the first 30-60 seconds before it stops so I feel like the injector is ok as it’s obviously working then. I’ve read about all the Series 1 PTU’s failing so I’m going to upgrade it to a series 2 and see if that helps! It’s been relocated at some point in its life and the wiring looks ropey so that will probably need doing as well.
  5. Thanks Jay!
  6. And you’ve done a bloody good job mate as well. I followed your build on Facebook and it was great to see!
  7. It’s definitely not the coil pack. I swapped it with the pack from Cylinder 1 and the misfire continued on cylinder 5. Oddly, when I first started the car from cold (and a dead battery) it ran on all 6 for about 30-60 seconds. The PTU is a series 1 and has been relocated behind the passenger headlight and has a lot of electrical tape wrapped around the wiring. I think my next step is to carefully unwrap the tape, check the wiring and all the connections too. Any other advice would be welcome
  8. Welcome to the Forum Fraser. Big fan of the rear wing! ???
  9. This is looking good then getting a few of the group together!
  10. I’ll be there but sadly my Zed won’t be as it’s poorly. I’ll be representing Japan though in my Subaru Legacy WR Ltd. looking forward to seeing you all there
  11. That’s all a bit weird, what would be the point?
  12. I think something needs to change. I agree with streamlining bits on here, there is a lot of irrelevant stuff now that most people use social media so much more. It should be just about the cars. I do think that some of the threads where no one’s posted for years is off putting for new members, if someone comes to look at the website to see whether it’s worth joining and no one has discussed a meet up in their area for 3 years then they probably won’t join. A regional grouping may be the way to go. I’d be happy to travel quite far for a meet up if the numbers were good.
  13. Welcome mate, car looks good, I love Midnight Purple!
  14. I don’t know for sure but think it’s advance only. I’ve not been there before

  18. Morning legends, with the help of some forumers I now have a shiny new pair of genuine headlight surrounds, which is ace, and I was hoping someone could help me with the part number for the trims that sit on the top edge of the door, by the window, and the corresponding piece on the rear window too? I’ve tried using the exploded diagram as per headlights but couldn’t figure out the right bit! im hoping someone else has ordered a set at some point and has the part number!
  19. Cheers guys, haven’t started looking in to yet what with it being Xmas and my kids being off school. Job for the new year now!
  20. Hi Rob, welcome to the club! I am also Rob!
  21. After showing my car the NEC Classic Car Show in November, I had the battery warning light come on the drive home. I already had the car booked in for an alignment at a Nissan Specialist so thought I’d just get him to look at it. On the drive, I found it was sounding rough and vibrating noticeably on idle. At the specialist, I found that the alternator was on its way out and only charging at 4k RPM. But the vibration was actually being caused by it only running on 5 cylinders with no. 5 not firing. Going to do some investigating soon to try and figure out the problem, hopefully just an ignition pack that needs replacing!
  22. Thanks mate, that’s ideal!
  23. Cheers Rich, I took it to the garage to get it aligned which is how he found it in the first place. Both side wobble but the near side is a lot worse but I’ll absolutely get both done at the same time. I hope the issue is a straight forward one to repair, I’ve not done any engine work yet, is it a plenum off job to get to the injectors and spark plug connectors?
  24. Evening everyone, so after a great year with the Zed, it’s decided to develop some faults just as I’m about to put it away for winter. The Hicas bushes are worn, causing the rear near side wheel to wobble, the alternator now only works when driving and stops at traffic lights but the main concern is that cylinder 5 isn’t firing. Its 1993 twin turbo, I’m not the most technically minded but would like to do some investigation in to the fault before I give in and take it to a garage. Any pointers or advice?
