  1. And you’ve done a bloody good job mate as well. I followed your build on Facebook and it was great to see!
  2. It’s definitely not the coil pack. I swapped it with the pack from Cylinder 1 and the misfire continued on cylinder 5. Oddly, when I first started the car from cold (and a dead battery) it ran on all 6 for about 30-60 seconds. The PTU is a series 1 and has been relocated behind the passenger headlight and has a lot of electrical tape wrapped around the wiring. I think my next step is to carefully unwrap the tape, check the wiring and all the connections too. Any other advice would be welcome
  3. Welcome to the Forum Fraser. Big fan of the rear wing! ???
  4. This is looking good then getting a few of the group together!
  5. I’ll be there but sadly my Zed won’t be as it’s poorly. I’ll be representing Japan though in my Subaru Legacy WR Ltd. looking forward to seeing you all there
  6. That’s all a bit weird, what would be the point?
  7. I think something needs to change. I agree with streamlining bits on here, there is a lot of irrelevant stuff now that most people use social media so much more. It should be just about the cars. I do think that some of the threads where no one’s posted for years is off putting for new members, if someone comes to look at the website to see whether it’s worth joining and no one has discussed a meet up in their area for 3 years then they probably won’t join. A regional grouping may be the way to go. I’d be happy to travel quite far for a meet up if the numbers were good.
  8. Welcome mate, car looks good, I love Midnight Purple!
  9. I don’t know for sure but think it’s advance only. I’ve not been there before

  12. Thanks ever so much guys, once again the Forum heroes come through!
  13. Morning legends, with the help of some forumers I now have a shiny new pair of genuine headlight surrounds, which is ace, and I was hoping someone could help me with the part number for the trims that sit on the top edge of the door, by the window, and the corresponding piece on the rear window too? I’ve tried using the exploded diagram as per headlights but couldn’t figure out the right bit! im hoping someone else has ordered a set at some point and has the part number!
  14. Cheers guys, haven’t started looking in to yet what with it being Xmas and my kids being off school. Job for the new year now!
  15. Hi Rob, welcome to the club! I am also Rob!
  16. After showing my car the NEC Classic Car Show in November, I had the battery warning light come on the drive home. I already had the car booked in for an alignment at a Nissan Specialist so thought I’d just get him to look at it. On the drive, I found it was sounding rough and vibrating noticeably on idle. At the specialist, I found that the alternator was on its way out and only charging at 4k RPM. But the vibration was actually being caused by it only running on 5 cylinders with no. 5 not firing. Going to do some investigating soon to try and figure out the problem, hopefully just an ignition pack that needs replacing!
  17. Thanks mate, that’s ideal!
  18. Cheers Rich, I took it to the garage to get it aligned which is how he found it in the first place. Both side wobble but the near side is a lot worse but I’ll absolutely get both done at the same time. I hope the issue is a straight forward one to repair, I’ve not done any engine work yet, is it a plenum off job to get to the injectors and spark plug connectors?
  19. Evening everyone, so after a great year with the Zed, it’s decided to develop some faults just as I’m about to put it away for winter. The Hicas bushes are worn, causing the rear near side wheel to wobble, the alternator now only works when driving and stops at traffic lights but the main concern is that cylinder 5 isn’t firing. Its 1993 twin turbo, I’m not the most technically minded but would like to do some investigation in to the fault before I give in and take it to a garage. Any pointers or advice?
  20. This weekends task was to fit the Mongoose Catback exhaust I bought second hand from Banzai Breakers! With it up on axle stands, I found that the Cats have obviously had some work on them before as it looked like a new bracket had been welded on and some previous bolts had sheared and some headless bolt threads welded in. It was a bit of a bodged mess. We ended up having to drill out 3 of the 4 holes in the end and have used nuts and bolts to attach the new exhaust. The easiest thing was to remove the whole exhaust including the Cat section so we could really get at it rather than trying to faff about with it still attached. Was very easy to take off and the nuts were quite loose where the Cat section attached to the down pipes. There were also no gaskets where the down pipes meet the cat section so we made some up from a sheet of gasket material and then we found the gaskets from the Cat to the Catback had almost completely disappeared! I think a previous owner had just reused the ones that were there when they put the Japspeed on and they were total garbage. Will explain I got a fume smell under throttle when the windows were down! I’ve also found a hanger on the cat is totally missing, and two hangers that should be on the car further back are also gone so a trip to the exhaust shop is coming up next week to get it all squared away! Anyway, the exhaust is now on as best I can, there may be a cable tie or two on it temporarily! Once it was on, I took it for a gentle run out, and after it was warm I pulled over and it appears a weld has failed on one of the sections as it was blowing a bit. These are the challenges with second hand parts but still, should be an easy fix when the hangers get done! It does, however, sound and look great! I’m really pleased with how it has come out. The drone has gone and it’s quieter when cruising and has a bit of a rasp too it under acceleration!
  21. I’ve had to take the Cat section off the car to drill out some boned bolts. To do so I had to take it off the down pipes from the turbo and the bolts were very loose. Does anyone know the torque settings for these?
  22. Rich, have you tried mentioning it on the Facebook page for the club? Very happy to be representing the club! Obviously I’ll be bringing the car up Thursday, is there a time we can get there? Need to be early as possible. Then I’ll be up in the Sunday all day to help out
  23. Good news! Passed the MOT today, 3 advisories, minor non structural corrosion underneath, and brake pipes on one side obscured by muck etc Happy with that. Plan to get the underside all cleaned up and undercoated next year anyway.
  24. Thanks Raja, think they will help
