As some of your may know ive been restoring and modifying the Zed for about 3 years now and a lot has been done i cant imagine how many hours has been spent working on the car making sure everything is done at its best. The car still seems like it needs alot of work to be complete but im finding it hard to find the time and enthusiasm to work on it lately. As im no mechanic or in the car trade at all working on the car has been one long learning process. Hitting wall after wall of complications with the modifications has taken its toll and im not sure if to carry on or give up. I know i would regret selling up and not finishing the car as ive put so much effor…

  3. Right come into some money from selling needless stuff so want to get all my cars niggles sorted this coming weeks! The single most annoying 'feature' is that it always, but always takes 2 times to start. In cold weather this can drop to around 10 times or more. Symptoms: Starter motor whirs, engine makes no attempt to start regardless of how long it's left to whir. Second or third time it goes straight away. Understood possible issues: Series 1 PTU faulty, Faulty starter motor teeth, at the worst ground down flywheel guide ring teeth, Loose starter motor The battery was replaced recently so not that. The starter motor is on dead tight and the co…

ok yesterday i thought i would check to see if my car is burning oil. the dipstick was really hard to get in and out of tube which was odd but it bone dry................. so then i panicked that my car suddenly ate all its oil. Well today i filled up around 4 litres of oil and the dipstick was still dry. gently took car around corner to warm it up and it was still dry noticed oil dripping out underneath car so i think i have overfilled car and dipstick pipe is broken as it wobbles a bit. i am a bit happier that i could have not burned much oil previously but obviously i need to re fit dipstick tube and drain all the oil. How hard is it to get th…

  7. Just had a thought here - people say the stock ecu compensates for higher than usual boost by overfuelling. So why not use it instead of going the tuned route? I was just considering having my DFCO disabled and having the map made slightly richer to get some nice pops/bangs at lower revs on let off, but suddenly realised - perhaps upping the boost on a stock ECU would give the same result? I have decats and straight through exhaust and bov-less so it's set-up otherwise to make some nice flames/pops but it's completely pop-less :(

I must have a fuel leak somewhere. I can only smell it when the engine's running and the car's stationary, i.e. while driving through towns etc. Had a mechanic look around and he reckoned there'd been a lose pipe which he tightened up under the rear end of the car but it's still there. Any ideas?

trying to get my headlights out to clean the lenses and also get a dead spider carcass out of the housing, also going to be fitting some angel eyes. But i can not access two bolts, You know the one's I'm on about, drivers side rear left (as looking at it from in front of the car) and passenger side rear right. for love nor money i can not get to these bolts, i have followed guides that say to remove the Recirc valves and the throttle body pipes, but my bolts are just too stuck, i even tried using a breaker bar and had no joy in getting them to budge, i can get a spanner on them, but then i have no room for leverage. With the recircs in the way, i cant get at th…

I saw it for sale on the main Lincoln high street the other day, then the next day it was pictured in the paper. I can see their point with the complaint, every single car on that image is for sale and they nick all the spaces :sneaky2: http://www.thisislincolnshire.co.uk/news/Traders-anger-street-car-showroom-getting-way-custom/article-2637796-detail/article.html

Maybe its just me... but I;m puzzled by the attraction of joining a group buy for a short shifter at £40 whan you can buy one any day of the week from 800BHP power seller on Ebay for £33 ???? At the end of the day they are all the same and are mass produced in Taiwan or one of its neighbours.

When tightening the valve cover it cracked, did'nt even give it that much  This was the top one without the oil filler. Do you think I will get away with it, its on the over side of the gasket plus its a middle bolt rather then the outside ones.

i have searched every thread i can and possibly started to confuse myself with different scenarios - as i understand it after the manual box is in i only have to wire the reverse lights and sort out the neutral switch - from what i gather the two wires from the remaing inhibitor switch go to the reverse lights but what wire goes to the neutral - some leave it but i dont want the hassle with the base timing out - do i need to bother with the starter relay in the inner wing on the clutch does everyone bother with the booster side - i want it easy to drive but is it much more hassle to fit all the bits kind regards dave
